[US] Walmart Wing Delivery; Newnan, GA

My brother ordered a couple iPhone screen protectors and it only took ~12 minutes. We didn’t think a screen protector was even worth parking for when we drove by the night before so the order was definitely too small to justify paying a Dasher. Hopefully they don’t start charging for it. As far as manpower goes, it’s the same or less than the free curbside delivery. They just take it to the drone yard (or whatever they call it) instead of the curbside carts.

When WiFi and screenshots are implemented on Analogue 3D…

…how about an option to translate? How possible would this be for Analogue to implement?

Like, you hit the button or button combo to take a screenshot and the preview has options like Save, Translate, Dismiss, Share, Frame Step, etc.

This kind of thing does not require GenAI/LLM since Google Translate and iPhone have been able to do this with screenshots for several years. Even so, Analogue wouldn’t have the resources and I doubt they would pay for their users to have unlimited use of a GPT-like AI tool. Still, maybe they’d let us plug in our own services. 🤔

I haven’t been excited about basic screenshots but something like this would tip the scales. I recently got Yuke Yuke Trouble Makers (JP Mischief Makers) at a flea market and saw someone today wondering if they would be missing out if they can’t read Japanese (the consensus was: “yes”). Wonder Project J2 would be another awesome one.

1st time trying GameShark on A3D

I was approaching the very end of Zelda Ocarina of Time and realized I had everything except the upgrade for maximum Deku Nut capacity. Turns out, I had run into a glitch where getting the Poacher’s Saw counts as completion for the Forest Stage Deku Nut upgrade, locking me out:
https://tcrf.net/Bugs:The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time#Forest_Stage_Deku_Nut_Upgrade

I thought I’d see if the GameShark could fix this for me. I was also curious if it could boot without a cart on top since the Analogue 3D does not need to enforce the CIC lock-out. It can’t. It also can’t boot Zelda without the key code, but I already knew CIC-NUS-6105 games sometimes need to talk to the CIC lock-out chip in the cartridge for a kind of challenge/response copy protection.

After I was done checking on those things I did an entirely normal boot using the key code and everything. I thought I had disabled all codes/cheats except the required master “(M)” code but somehow the one for having all arrow types was also enabled. It should not have mattered. I booted, loaded my file from the third save slot, paused the game to see my inventory, then powered off without saving. When I loaded the game back up, my specific save slot (File 3) was deleted. 🤦‍♂️

Not the Analogue 3D’s fault, of course, but I have to wonder why that happened when I didn’t even save my game. I have a feeling the cheats only work properly with the first save file and that made my game think the 3rd save slot was corrupted. Surprised it only deleted that one and didn’t reinitialize all of the SRAM. Oh well.

I should have made a save state (Memory) but I was aiming for 100% without abusing them. Using Memories as a save backup obviously isn’t cheesing but I wanted to keep my hands clean and avoid temptation… even if I was about to try some GameShark cheats. 🤣

Remember, folks: Don’t mess around with a GameShark if you don’t have a save backup! Analogue 3D Memories is a good way to do that for some games. Ocarina is a battery-backed SRAM game too so there’s even more reason. 👍

Will Sam’s Club ever address the cafe issues?

TL:DR, the fix would be:
-Add order kiosks.
-Actually prepare app orders and send notifications before someone gives up and comes looking for it.
-Don’t tell people to wait for a notification that won’t come for hours.
-Stop sending notifications for orders that were picked up days or a week earlier.
-Stop demanding feedback before you’ve even given the order number.

I left Costco and have been a Sam’s Club member for 6 months now. They’re pretty similar, but one of the notable differences is how the cafeteria always has a slow-moving line. That would be fine if there were kiosks like Costco or if app orders actually worked like it’s supposed to. I should be able to order ahead and have it ready but instead I have to order, stand at the pickup area, and tell them my order number before they’ll do anything. The app actually tells me to wait for a notification that isn’t coming.

Adding insult: I get a notification that it’s ready only after I’m long gone and there’s nothing I can do to acknowledge it. It will repeatedly nag me about picking up my order for several days. Why would they think my combo is still “waiting” for me a week later?!

Today someone complained that I got my order before her. She probably ordered in the app to “skip the line” too but there’s no way to know when I get there. Register orders pick up at the same spot. Even if I knew, it makes no sense to wait with others for orders that the cafeteria isn’t even working on. Seeing me approach with my order number displayed on my phone clues others in to their way out.

They told her it’s first come, first served, but I have no doubt she ordered first. She didn’t know you have to ignore the app’s instructions and give them your order number or you’ll get stuck until they eventually notice you waiting and ask. If you wait for the notification at your table or while shopping you won’t get it for hours or days. 🤦‍♂️

Another issue: The app immediately prompts for feedback, completely blocking your order number and forcing you to dismiss. All you can legitimately say at that point is “Uhh, thanks for taking my money, I guess” with a random star rating. By the time the other described issues have actually happened again, the feedback form is dismissed.

Craftsman 12” cordless/corded high-velocity fan CMXEFXA511214

Most hybrid battery fans with an AC option have bare prongs for an extension cord to attach, but not this puppy. None of the reviews tell you that you need a CMXEFXAC01 wall wart power supply adapter that can be lost/misplaced or damaged and adds $25-$40 to the price. A couple mention the “cord” is not included, which didn’t even faze me when none of the hybrid fans include the AC cord… but this is literally an AC-DC adapter that they misleadingly call a “cord” and never show. 🤦‍♂️

I couldn’t find any showing the jack that it fits and, of course, none will answer the obvious question of whether or not it will charge a battery when plugged in. I was expecting this to be the Craftsman version of the discontinued DeWALT hybrid cordless/corded fan which is what I would have got if it were still available. The aftermarket price is inflated specifically due to people who want the hybrid AC/battery feature, so it’s not getting glossed over because no one cares. The smaller 7.5” RYOBI “Whisper Series” fan even has it, which I got at the same time with the intent to return one or the other after doing more research.

The only reason I even know the Craftsman takes an external power supply was from reading comments, the first of which were cryptic and almost unbelievable… like some guy saying he found a laptop cord that “fits” without even establishing that it doesn’t take an AC cord like I was still assuming. After confirming on the Craftsman product page, I looked up the CMXEFXAC01 adapter and found that it’s a 20v 2A center-positive barrel plug PSU, but I can’t find the jack size. Hopefully it’s the ubiquitous 5.5x2.1mm so there’d be a chance you could find a compatible one at a thrift store.

Anyway, I still don’t know if it charges the battery when plugged in, which could be a problem since I’m passing on my Craftsman misting fan and battery to a friend and intend to adapt DeWALT batteries (luckily Craftsman has low-voltage cut-off in the tool). Since I might be returning it to the store unopened, I figured I’d look up the manual online… but none of the Craftsman or retailer product pages have it. Their “How to locate your product manual” page appears to be neglected and gives you a “Server Error” when you hit “Search by Model Number.”

Well, I have to open one of these fans and return the other. This is a last-ditch effort to see if anyone online knows about the battery charging and barrel jack size. Guess it also puts all these frustrations out there for someone doing their due diligence to search and find, so please chime in if you know anything. Thanks!
