My wife is THE GREATEST! (Amazing Analogue bundle)

TL;DR: Had to give up Super Nt and Mega Sg during a difficult time. Thought I'd never own them again. Wife found AWESOME bundle for me on opposite side of planet.

- Super Nt (SF) +box
- DAC (new, sealed)
- Mega Sg (JP) +box
- Mega Sg cart adapter v1.1 set +box

Total ~$850!!!

These things all launched separately at different times. Ordering as they were released, I would have paid taxes + (very high) shipping with each order. This price feels like I got them for original MSRP. Current second-hand price is more than double.

They're not perfect, but I don't care. Rubber foot pads on both consoles are damaged with fissures at the corners (probably from SE Asian heat). Mega Sg pad is oozing sticky stuff like my old Logitech devices. I'll replace with something custom, or maybe Analogue has some original rubber pads around to include with my next order. The mat thing for the Mega Sg is missing. It elevates the console when attached to Sega CD. A rubber mouse pad will work perfectly for me. Everything else was included (SMS cart adapter, USB power, HDMI).

We've worked for years to bring my wife to USA. In January we were at the very end of the process; then USA suspended all immigrant visas from 75 countries "indefinitely." Worst timing possible! She would have arrived Feb 6, so she quit her job and let the apartment lease expire. Now she's staying with parents and I've been sending extra support money. Meanwhile, she finds amazing strange stuff at flea markets and second-hand shops.

When Analogue 3D had the first restock, I tried to buy a white one to go with my original pre-ordered black A3D. I had been waiting for the A3D restock order to also buy a bunch of other Analogue stuff (Duo, Pocket Dock, other Pocket accessories, etc). I encountered incomprehensible shopping cart restrictions and blocked credit card transactions (this ALWAYS happens when it's "go-time" to order from Analogue). At some point I had wasted an hour and all my credit cards were blocking transactions from Analogue. The only thing I had been able to order successfully was the white A3D. I'm not sure when the Pocket Dock went out-of-stock. I had seen it available to order a week or so before the A3D restock. My wife had been waiting for my call, so I gave up and called her. I explained why I hadn't called an hour earlier, describing the frustration. Then she just went to the Analogue web site and ordered the Duo for me! I couldn't combine shipping with my other order, but I wanted a Duo regardless. I told her she should not have done that, but the Duo is great and I thank her for it often!

Just a few days ago on the 1st of July, I was on a video call with my wife. She found some cool things for me at a flea market. One was a Nintendo "Ten Billion" 1980 puzzle toy for $0.57 - super cheap! Also a Famicom Super Mario Bros (looks authentic) for less than $5. On the video call, I showed her the Analogue Duo that she helped me buy months earlier and I thanked her again. Then I showed her the other Analogue stuff. A3D, Pockets, Pocket Dock, etc. I showed her the Nt mini Noir and told her it's probably worth twice what I originally paid. The conversation drifted to me describing my favorite Analogue consoles (Super Nt and Mega Sg) and how I will probably never have another chance to own them due to insane second-hand prices.

While I was blabbing, she started searching the Internet. She found a nearby Super Nt with brand new (sealed) DAC for way less money than it would cost for me in USA. I couldn't believe it! I told her to wait. I will pay some bills and then send some money, but she ignored me and purchased it with some kind of pay-later thing (fees were minimal). She saw the same seller also had a Mega Sg and she immediately bought it. He was also selling the Mega Sg cart adapter v1.1 set. The seller couldn't easily sell the adapters in SE Asia after he already sold his Mega Sg. I told her not to negotiate, I'll just buy it. The seller's prices were already very fair. I couldn't talk her out of it (it's a cultural thing). She got the adapters for 10% less than his original asking price. Seller also has a Duo but it's ~$471 so I'm not interested. So in the end we got Super Nt, new/sealed DAC, Mega Sg, and v1.1 cart adapters. ~$850!

I worried it was a scam. "Too-good-to-be-true." On a video call with me this morning, she unboxed the packages. It's all there! I'm psyched!

Just picked up an analogue 3D, looking for suggestions for settings!

Hey all - as noted above. I’d recently picked up an n64, was using a retroscaler 2x and it just wasn’t cutting the mustard. Decided to get the A3D as I’d been thinking about pulling the trigger for a while. Thought I’d try and get the best possible settings. I’m looking for as close to how it looked back in the day on a CRT. I’m playing on 50” Samsung Tv in the living room. Thanks in advance!

RMA question

Had a question for anyone that has RMA'd a device to Analogue. Did you just send the device or did you send it packed in the original box, with cables, etc? I can't imagine they would want or need anything but the console but figured I would ask!

A3D firmware

I know the OG firmware supported Flashcarts/ Everdrives ect and by the 1st update they were no longer compatible. I've heard that a couple of oddball firmware updates support these still ; what's the most up to date version for compatibility on this?

N64 brawler not powering off

I have an N64 brawler (wireless) plugged into port one on my A3D. When I shut off the console the light on the controller receiver stays blinking. The controller blinks too.

Is there a way to fix this besides unplugging the adapter each time?

$35 case I got from Harbor Freight

Grabbed this case for $35 from Harbor Freight, fits the console and controllers perfectly. I probably could have put the controllers in vertically and fit four.

Edit: link to product. I think only sold in stores

ScreenCart 64 Update

You can lodge your interest for ScreenDrive via the link below

The ScreenDrive 64 is one of the more interesting new pieces of N64 hardware to come out recently, created by David Brito of DavidXGames. It's essentially a flash cartridge with an integrated LCD screen that acts as a dynamic game label. Instead of sticking a paper label on the front of the cartridge, the screen automatically changes to display the artwork of whichever game you're currently playing.

What it is

A Nintendo 64 flash cartridge that loads ROMs from an SD card or USB connection, similar in concept to an EverDrive 64 or a SummerCart64.

Features a small color LCD embedded where the cartridge label normally sits.

The screen updates automatically to show the game's artwork or title when you launch a game.

Hardware

According to early reports, the prototype uses:

A 128 MB FPGA-based design

A PicoCart-compatible implementation

A 3D-printed shell roughly matching the size and shape of an original N64 cartridge.

Compatibility

The developer has stated that it runs virtually the entire N64 library, with only a couple of titles having issues, and those problems are reportedly fixable.

Current status (June 2026)

As of now:

It's still essentially a prototype/homebrew project.

There hasn't been a wide retail release.

The creator, David Brito, has discussed the possibility of a pre-order or crowdfunding campaign in the future.

Mike from RetroGameBoyz is discussing to fund the project.

Why people are excited

For collectors, this solves a common flash cart complaint: every flash cart looks the same sitting on a shelf. The ScreenDrive 64 makes it appear as though you have the actual game cartridge inserted because the label changes dynamically. The retro community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many people hoping larger flash-cart manufacturers eventually adopt the idea.

As someone who likes unique retro hardware and custom peripherals, I think you'd probably appreciate it because it combines:

The convenience of a flash cart,

The aesthetic of real cartridges,

And a genuinely new hardware gimmick that feels very "Nintendo."

FAQ

Will RetroGameBoyz be an authorized re-seller of DavidXGames N64 ScreenDrive?

This is in active discussion.

Where will RetroGameBoyz ship to?

United States, Europe and Canada mostly — other countries are possible if the customer wants and if costs are reasonable. At times it may be better to purchase from DavidXGames directly. DavidXGames will ship to Mexico and Latin America regions (this will be clearly marked on the RetroGameBoyz product page to guide those customers to DavidXGames instead).

What model of the ScreenDrive is RetroGameBoyz selling?

The MicroSD card version only. DavidXGames will be selling the USB and SD card versions to accommodate different markets in those respective sell-to countries.

Will there be retail packaging?

RetroGameBoyz will not have retail packaging in order to keep costs at a minimum. RetroGameBoyz will ship the ScreenDrive in bubble wrap and a plain cardboard shipping box.

Is this an original creation of DavidXGames or is this a repurposed / modded product?

Both the 128 MB version and the microSD version are based on open-source projects with licenses that allow commercial use. Both projects have been modified to add the screen functionality and some additional improvements.

Is there an alternative product out there sold on AliExpress or Temu?

There is no equivalent product. Some people confuse the ScreenDrive with a 128 MB cartridge that has a 3.5-inch screen for gameplay, but that product requires modifying the console.

Is an SD card and/or video game ROM files included?

No, it is sold separately and up to the user to find what they need.

What is the maximum size of the SD card that can be used?

Up to 1 TB, formatted in FAT32 or exFAT.

How do you add games and images to the ScreenDrive?

To add games and images, the microSD card must be removed and connected directly to the PC.

Is the 3D cart model publicly available?

No.

What is the USB-C connector for?

In the microSD version, the USB port is only used to provide power to the system and display the images on the screen for display or shelf mode.

Does This Look Correct?

It's been 26 years since playing the N64 and I think ive got the best looking setting i can get out of the monitor im using (not 4k/hdr)

Does this look like the old n64? The only thing I'm wondering about is how jaggy the distant ground looks. I could see the constantly shifting pixels giving off a headache during extended game sessions.

Acceptable level of slack in Link cables?

I purchased 2 Link cables. Both cables have about a 3mm gap between the body and cable housing, which if the cable is at all disturbed shifts leading to disconnect. I reached out to Analogue and they say this is normal but that makes these practically unplayable unless sitting on a flat surface.

Update: Grabbed a no-name Chinese link cable off Amazon for half the price, much tighter fit and doesn't shake loose while playing. Here's a video that illustrates the fit difference.

Analogue 3D at 4K vs 1080p: how big is the real difference? Anyone using a projector?

I've been running my Analogue 3D at 1080p because that's all my current projector accepts, and I'm weighing a 4K projector upgrade (Valerion Pro2).

For those who've compared both outputs on the same display: how much do the CRT display modes (shadow mask / PVM / BVM) improve at 4K? I've read they really need the 4K pixel density to draw the phosphor structure properly, but I'd love firsthand impressions rather than spec-sheet logic.

And is anyone playing theirs on a projector? I'm at about a 90ish inch image with options to go up to 110-120in after upgrade, roughly 10 ft viewing distance, and I'm curious how the CRT modes hold up at sizes no real CRT ever reached. Worth it, or do you just run the clean sharp mode at that scale?

I've ran the analogue on 4k OLED TVs, looks pretty good (better than the projecter obviously) just wondering if it will about match with a good projector.

Recommended 2.4 ghz N64 controllers with memory slot - Analogue 3D

I have the 8bitdo 2.4 ghz controller - but the “controller pak” function on the dongle is completely unreliable. So I’ll be returning this in hopes of getting another 2.4 ghz (not Bluetooth) controller that will allow me to use OEM controller paks.

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with what’s out there? Thanks! 🙏

/r/AnalogueInc Mod Rules Note

Hey guys, it's been a while. Just going to keep this short and sweet.

I've been inundated over the last couple of years with people asking for more moderation. I have purposefully been mostly hands-off, and only moderated severe violations (links to ROMs, severe user harrasment, etc.) but based on some of the stuff I've seen recently, things have gotten a bit worse, so I'm going to change things a bit.

Firstly, I will enforce moderation more strictly. All existing rules apply, but if I'm on the fence, instead of erring towards "let them figure it out", I'll just remove stuff.

Second, I've seen quite a few posts that are sus recently. Posts of pictures to scalpers or other sales of products, which are designed to look like you're complaining about the scalper, but really it's most likely a covert sales tactic. In the spirit of the original moderators "No sales, ever" rules, I will from now on remove any content that gets reported that has links or pictures to any sales platform like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. You can of course still share links and photos of the Analogue official website. In addition, don't be cheeky and post a photo of your hardware and then say "but I might sell it, idk". I have always let that slide, but since people have wanted more moderation, this is one change I am going to make.

Third, and this isn't new either, harassment rules apply to all your fellow active Reddit users. Yes, even if that Reddit user is a public figure. Do not harass people.

Finally, I'm planning to bring on additional moderators in the near future since all the other mods besides me are now inactive.

Thanks, that's it. Feel free to leave your thoughts and your complaints below.

Something weird happend with my dock

I recently bought an used dock, didn't come with the usb-c cable but it had the power supply and the HDMI cable, I also bought a used transparent clear pocket (they came as a package)

Today I tested them, the pocket works as intended, so I loaded some cores and plugged the dock on my 50 inch screen; I used my iphone USB-C cable with the dock's power supply and most of my cartridge games ran fine, but then I tried the GB core with the DMG video mode and it came out like the first image, I quit, the checked the snes core and it was fine, came back to the GB core anda again, the first image, as you can see there is a different color on the upper left corner; I changed the video mode to GBP light (second picture) and it was fine, then returned to the DMG video mode and now it's fine; what happened? should I be worried? is the dock malfunctioning or is something with the core; on the pocket it doesn't happen something like this.

Also, the dock and the power supply got hot and I was only testing for about 20 minutes, runing cores for SNES; Genesis and arcade games, is this normal?

Why is my A3D reverting some ROMs on my X5 to “auto” for overclocking?

Currently on version 1.3, will be updating to 1.4 soon but seems like since that last update, the 3D has gained the ability to remember display settings for each game. I assume that was the intention with hardware overclocking as well, but the problem I’m now running into is it will revert games back to auto. And since you can’t change that setting while playing the game, it’s sort of stuck that way?

In the video you can see my Everdrive menu shows unleashed as that’s what I had set it to before starting up, but as soon as I start Banjo-Tooie it switches it back to the default setting.

Is there any fix for this?

Edit: disregard, I’m a dummy who didn’t notice the 3D adds the Game ID to your game queue. Will leave up for future dummies like me

Retro shelf 64 issues

Hi everyone, I got the retro shelf from patreon today and I'm having a few issues just wondering if anybody can help.

First it's not finding all my games I'm going to assume this is a naming issue?

Is there a way to name a us rom set in full not every individual file?

Second issue is the box art etc is very pixelated on my screen but doesn't look like that on the YouTube video not sure what's going on there ?

Thanks in advance

RELEASE: N64ever - the definite flashcard menu based onN64FlashMenu-N64ever

https://github.com/bjerreman/N64FlashcartMenu-N64ever

Noobs: download sc64menu.n64 and put it on the root folder of your SD card.

Here are the highlight:

  • Favorites Grid is the home screen — a masonry layout of cover art, not a file list.
  • Universal "More" menu (R) — one menu for everything: launch, favorite, per-game art, grid settings, hardware, history, settings, file browser.
  • Inspect popup (A) — cover + a 2+2 metadata block (name/developer over date/region) and a scrollable description sized to fit without scrolling for most games; sits on top of the grid.
  • Shrink-wrapped File Browser popup — favorite ROMs (single or whole folders), launch, with a live favorites counter. Full file management (Copy/Move/Paste, Delete, Rename + Create folder via an on-screen keyboard), reachable even in an empty folder.
  • ROM boot — optionally boot a chosen ROM on power-on after a cancellable art countdown (userland, no firmware autoboot; hold START at boot to disable).
  • 60 fps render with per-frame animations tuned to match; grid Tile: Square/Box sizing.
  • Great metadata support - don't sweat it.
  • Built-in text database — 445 games with title/developer/dates/description (100% have a title + a back-of-box description). Binary-searched by 3-char base code.
  • Special editions — ROMs that reuse another game's NUS code (e.g. OoT Master QuestSmash Remix) get their own name/date/description + art, matched on the filename.
  • Build-type labels — Demo / Prototype / Beta ROMs are recognised from their filename dump tags and flagged in Inspect (so a missing cover reads as "this is a demo", not a bug).
  • Blank-cart placeholders — an uncovered game shows a realistic label-removed N64 cart (or 64DD disk) instead of a generic placeholder.
  • 64DD disc support — expansion discs (e.g. F-Zero X Expansion Kit) link to a base cartridge; the link is a manual, per-region disclink config (English ⇄ Japanese cache independently), and launching an unlinked expansion disc from Files offers to link it.
  • Animated screensaver — idle cover-art marquee; also used as the live background of the redesigned Menu Information (one scrollable list in a rainbow popup, N64ever logo on top).
  • Cancel/abort — B aborts a folder-favorite (full undo) or an A-Z sort mid-run.
  • Game Metadata register — on-device diagnostic of which art/text sources exist per game.
  • Custom splash — user PNG as the boot splash.
  • Everything is a popup over the grid (except a few deliberately-black screens).
  • 2048-favorite cap.

Much love,
Bjerreman
