Finding Arcades in Japan? We got you covered!

https://musecat.app/en

Hi everyone!

I’ve been building Musecat, a community-driven arcade database focused on rhythm games.

One of the biggest goals of the project is solving the long-standing problem of fragmented and outdated arcade information.

What makes it different?

  • 🌏 Available in English, Japanese, and Korean, (Chinese TBA)
  • 🎵 Strong focus on rhythm game arcades
  • 📍 Reliable information across Asia, especially Korea and Japan
  • 📸 Users can upload arcade photos
  • 🎮 View what rhythm games are inside an arcade
  • 🔧 Share machine status in real time (broken cabinets, maintenance, offline machines, etc.)
  • ✏️ Community edits to keep information accurate

It was always been hard to find reliable arcade information.

For example, if you look only at Japanese arcades that have maimai:

  • Musecat: 931 arcades
  • ZIv: 277 arcades

The difference isn’t because we’re counting differently.
We’ve spent a lot of time collecting, verifying, and maintaining arcade data.

One of Musecat’s primary goals is improving the issues that many players have experienced with existing resources like ZIV:

  • fragmented information
  • outdated entries
  • missing arcades
  • difficult community maintenance

Rather than being just another arcade list, I want Musecat to become a living database that the community continuously updates.

Today, Musecat already has:

  • 2,000+ registered arcades
  • 15,000+ registered game machines
  • 9,500+ community edits
  • 80,000+ monthly page views

Most of our current traffic comes from Asia, where the community is already actively contributing.

The long-term goal is simple:

Provide the most reliable rhythm game arcade information anywhere in the world, not just in Asia.

If you travel for rhythm games or regularly hunt for arcades, I’d really appreciate any feedback or contributions!

It’s hot out there. Should I drive to the arcade?

Since the global launch, Musecat officially reached
🕹️ 750+ arcades with comprehensive information
✏️ Thousands of document edits.
💔 ~400 faulty machine reports.

Special thanks to everyone contributing and helping others’ journey.

We are thrilled to announce now parking information is available for report and view. Fellow SEA folks we got you 😎

+) Multiple games and versions were added. We are preparing more streamlined pipeline for more games support. Thx for the feedback.

Thanks for contributing 🎉🎉 + Musecat feedback update!

For context, Musecat is nearby arcade finder. You can check it out at https://musecat.app

We’ve received lots of feedback, ideas, comments, and even contributions! 🥳🎉 That was very busy couple weeks for Musecat.

Within couple of weeks, Musecat officially reached 750+ arcades with comprehensive information, with thousands of change logs. On top of that there are roughly 400 faulty machine reports 😢

There were handful of things that could be improved in timely manner, and some takes time and we are still on going.

For Maimai specific, coming update will include new features such as “Maimai session friend finder” and “how crowded the machines are”

Thanks to everyone who contributed, and extra thanks for our 17 founding supporter that gathered more than 100 points by editing and publishing arcade information.

Hey everyone,

About two years ago, I wrote a post that I was working on an arcade app called musecat. Since then, it’s grown into the largest arcade wiki service in Korea.

The core idea is pretty simple:

- It shows you nearby arcades based on your current or selected location

- You can filter arcades to only see ones that have all the games you’re looking for

- Recently, we added a machine issue reporting feature, and it’s been getting a lot of use.

Now, we are ready for an international launch and just pushed a major foundation update to support global locations.

At this stage, what would really help is more data, especially arcade locations and machine info from outside Korea.

If you’re interested, I’d really appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
