Best mpv config settings for high end Image quality and superior to MadVR high quality scaling options...

I recently installed MPV and it's really good as it's very customizable and can be improved....

I would really like to know what config options and settings are available or needed to be set up to make it surpass Madvr high end downscaling and upscaling shader/scaling options like SSIM 100 , NGU Sharp...

You may say default mpv is good, yes it is but beside madvr it won't look that refined, and lacks that depth sharpness in image quality... Madvr high end is just superior, as it's both sharp & accurate with minimal artifacts..... But, ive seen there are scaling options to use with MPV that even surpass Madvr..

So, please if anyone knows what sort of settings or config options, files you could explain and share it....

Eg : I found In mpv guides some advanced shader options to use like Artcnn, NNEDi3 (external shaders) but I would like to know which are the top tier settings or scalers for exceptional image fedility and refinement....

DCG in iqoo 12, is it possible ? How to get it with MotionCam version 5.

IQOO 12 has the same sort of sensors like moto edge 50 ultra and it also runs on origin OS just like vivo x300 pro, which I've seen both moto and vivo x300 pro has DCG access with new motioncam version 5 without root.

So, how to enable or get DCG on iQOO 12. It is possible with moto bearing the same sensors and vivo with same origin OS then what about iQOO 12 which have both traits !. Iqoo 12 has very good camera hardware and DCG capability like moto edge 50 ultra on this would make it incredible too...

So, could some one please tell me how to get it...

Iqoo please allow camera2api to access DCG, full sensor resolutions...

I have iQOO 12 it has great camera hardware with omni vision sensors and it is natively capable of DCG (Dual conversion gain) for much better dynamic range and noise reduction in photos and videos. But, even though having this impressive camera hardware functionalities & capabilities, it was under utilised and sadly hindered its actual potential as DCG was locked and not accessible for camera2api to expose it, even the full sensor resolutions too.

If iQOO could allow it as usual like vivo it would be a miracle and game changing thing.

I strongly hope that IQOO will implement this and give us what's capable of its unparalleled performance.....

Could anyone please explain how to install MPV with highest quality settings for downscaling, upscaling and New dolby vision FEl playback support....

Hi, I recently installed MPV player from Shinchiro build of version v3 git as you can see from the pics.

Along with this a person suggested that I copy some sort of new FEL files into the mpv directory prior installation of MPV player so that it will support 4k bluray profile 7 dolby vision FEl playback and also other FELs without getting fallback to HDR10. Actually he said mpv got updated for FEL compatibility recently...

Before all of this I used to use MPCHC media player with madvr with highest madvr quality settings like image downscaling, chroma upscaling, image upscaling..they really made a difference on the overall image quality with better depth, natural detail and refinement compared to my current MPV setup..

👉 So guys please if you have any other workaround for the highest quality media playback with mpv with high quality config options or settings or either the best mpv version. Also, guide me so that mpv could support all dolby vision FEL playback including p7 with madvr like high quality image upscaling, downscaling algorithms on top of it for better image quality...

You could write down the detailed approach in steps, it not only helps me but would find the right audience who wants the best from mpv like me.....

How to play Dolby vision layer in 4k bluray remux mkv files properly on dolby vision capable display.

(The screenshots hold the windows hdr settings and display specifications of my laptop, the last screenshot showing colour gamut options in my asus app, they only work in SDR and greys out in HDR.)

Does mpv support dolby vision playback of 4k bluray remuxes in mkv format with dolby vision layer of profile 7.

I have Asus vivobook pro 16 OLED, with windows 11 having rtx 4050 gpu and i9 13th gen with 24gb ram, it has 4k OLED with Dolby vision support and peak brightness of 616 nits, along with it I had plenty of good 4k bluray hdr10 remux collection in my hard drive, Some of the remuxes have Dolby vision layer too..

SDR Playback :

(In SDR mode I can choose between different colour gamuts from my asus control panel app, it's default at vivid colours and ofcourse it looks oversaturated, punchy with any content playback in that default vivid colours option and it also has other options to choose like Srgb, DCI-P3, Display P3.)

The thing is from screenshots what settings should I change to get proper and best SDR playback without that oversaturation.

HDR Playback :

I had several webrips and some formatted, repackd bluray rips in "MP4" format and they had different dolby vision layer as a result the windows default media players like "movies and tv ", "windows media player" play it well and also has access to change the look profiles like bright, dark, vivid options from Dolby Access app in windows..

I found bright option is better with most of the content while dark option is too dark and dull with less brightness and can't see shadow detail properly.

👉 While these players won't Support dolby vision layer in profile 7 of bluray remuxes in "MKV" format and they eventually fallback to HDR10 for Playback of those files.

Apart from the dolby vision HDR, actually the standard HDR10 in windows default players look soo dull, dark and also the colours look pale, suppose the deeper reds look more orangish. Actually most of the content in hdr 10 only.

So, is there any workaround so that I can play HDR properly, accurately on mpv without those pale colours and dull brightness. Also any compatibility or workaround to play Dolby vision layer of profile 7 in 4k bluray remux MKV files ..

Please, help me in setting up MPC HC for best and correct HDR10, Dolby Vision playback in MadVR, MpcVR with 4k bluray remuxes.

The screenshots posted are the mpc hc settings, first one is Mpc video renderer while the rest in white background overlay are Madvr settings and the last screenshot has my asus application colour gamut options that only work in SDR and greys out in HDR.

I use Madvr and also tried Mpc video renderer(MPVC). HDR looks less bright, dull and little pale in colours compared to SDR.

***By seeing the settings in screenshots please suggest me the changes in options, settings for super high end MADVR, MPCVR playback. Otherwise, suggest me any other route like any other application or workaroumd where I can playback Hdr properly along with dolby vision.***

# Standard HDR 10 playback issue: 👇

Hdr looks dull, very dark and little pale in colours compared to SDR. I would like to know accurate settings.

After enabling the Windows HDR in display settings and testing in both MADVR and MPCVR, with some HDR 10 content they both look soo dark and dull in overall image brightness and i can see barely nothing in the shadows of the image. Also, colours look pale, for example deeper reds are not looking like actual reds they are more of orangish in looking.

# Dolby vision HDR playback issue: 👇

MP4 files with dolby vision layer :

(Movies & Tv, windows media player): These certain webrip files and some rare formatted, repacked bluray rips in mp4 format with DV layer show up with dolby vision logo in Movies & TV, Windows Media Player like apps and I can also tweak dolby vision profile looks for them like bright, dark, vivid from the provided dolby access app support, bright one looks good with most of the content while the dark one is dull and masks the shadow detail.

(MPC HC):

In MadVR, I can't get DV layer to work and it falls back to hdr10.

In MPC video renderer (MPVC), I think dolby vision is working, and I am also not sure if it fell back to HDR10, only way to verify is that the file shouldn't contain hdr10 for backward compatibility and it has to be dolby vision .mp4 alone. Also even in this if dolby vision is working I can't use the Dolby vision look profiles like dark, bright, vivid from dolby access app.

MKV files with dolby vision layer :

These files won't show up as dolby vision in Movies & Tv, Windows Media Player apps and they fallback to HDR10.

It seems they had no support for "profile 7" in 4k bluray remuxes. MPC HC with both MADVR and mpc video renderer can't play it and only plays the standard HDR10 in the file.

# Could anyone please, by seeing the settings in screenshots suggest me the right changes in options, settings for super high end MADVR, MPCVR playback. Otherwise, suggest me any other route like any other application or workaroumd where I can play Hdr properly along with several dolby vision profiles playback compatibility like mkv profile 7 of 4k bluray remuxes.

Serenity (Samsung S23) [MotionCam Pro Trail Challenge]

Hi, everyone, I shot these clips with Samsung s23 (hand held) using MotionCam trail application in MotinCam's MCRAW format. Then stabilized & color graded the corresponding Cinema DNG RAW image sequences of .mcraw files in Davinci resolve.

👇👇 This below one is Discord submission : ✨

https://discord.com/channels/980884979955421255/1507175367872483458

{ Original Source files a.k.a .mcraw Cinema DNG RAW Image Sequence files with the discord username "vadanaaravinda" as file names were uploaded to "MotionCam Uploader". }

........I was exploring several camera apps for high quality photography and videography and after going through many with some deep research i finally found MotionCam. I initially couldn't believe that it supports LOG video format, and then I saw the legendary "RAW", it just blew me away. The quality and the flexibility it has is really amazing and the best that I had ever witnessed before. The dynamic range, color fidelity, detail, Image scale is insanely good. It utilized the phone camera sensor to the best way possible, producing high end quality with MotionCam's proprietary MCRAW format for RAW.......

/////////////// From searching a random app to shooting in RAW, and understanding several technical aspects behind photography, videography and color science and a deep dive into MotionCam Documentation for further exposure to Camera sensors abilities and its functionalities with MotionCam Synergy made me in turn to learn Color Grading in Davinci resolve to the point of editing and color grading the clips. ////////////////

[ I hope that I will get a Motioncam pro license and I will try to make a documentary with it in future with better gear and a capable device ]. 🪽

. . .❄️ Thank you ❄️

. . .MotionCam and its Community

........................... ITS AN AMAZING JOURNEY...............................

DETAILED WORKFLOW AND SETTINGS : 👑✨👑

  1. CAPTURING : ⚡

.I shot several 5 sec trail clips in RAW format at 24 FPS after setting app Video capture resolution to "Full sensor" and chose RAW output configuration to available max "4608x3456 (RAW_SENSOR)".

.Shooting in RAW produced several corresponding .mcraw files in storage and I can also view them as videos in Linear Raw preview form from the app's interface manage videos section.

.I uploaded those .mcraw files to installed MotioCam Tools application on PC, in order to convert those into Cinema DNG raw image sequences without enabling "Bake in Vignette" option for maximum control and flexibility over the uncompressed image with Davinci Resolve. (After conversion each .mcraw file forms a corresponding folder of cinema DNG raw image sequence.)

.Then, I uploaded those into Davinci resolve free version for editing and color grading.

  1. COLOR MANAGEMENT & STABILIZATION : ⚡

In Davinci Resolve, I initially set the project settings to :

a) In the master settings tab > Under Timeline Format > Timeline resolution to "Custom", set to "4000 x 3000", without cropping, for full 4:3 image aspect ratio (other aspect ratio resolutions are also preferred).

b) In the color management tab > Under color space & transforms :

>Color science, I had chosen "DaVinci YRGB", for a non color managed workflow using CSTs.

>Timeline color space as "Davinci WG/Intermediate".

>Output color space as "Rec.709 Gamma 2.4".

c) In Camera Raw tab > Under Master:

>RAW profile to "CinemaDNG".

>Decode quality to "Full res".

>Decode using to "project.

Under project settings :

>Color space to "P3D60".

>Gamma to "Linear".

>Highlight recovery checked on.

.Now I selected and dragged those individual Cinema DNG raw image sequence folders in my storage location onto the edit page of Resolve. (I arranged, trimmed those according to my preference)

{ Stabilization } : ♦️

.Stabilization using MotionCam supported "Gyroflow app" with "save gyro data" option enabled in MotionCam app before recording the clips produces better results, Davinci is a secondary alternative for stabilization.

.For stabilization in Davinci Resolve I switched to the Fusion page of resolve from the edit page, I added the "PlanarTracker " node between the MediaIn1 and MediaOut1.

.In PlanarTracker1 tab options I set the Operation mode to "Track". I selected some good contrasty, detailed area on the image by drawing a shape around it and then I opted Reference Time to 0.0 by dragging the red progressive bar on the timeline to starting of the clip at 0.0, so that i can track the movement from starting to ending and in reverse. (It can be placed at any point of time on the clip and track it back and forth) and then I checked "Set" in the Reference Time.

.Now under Pattern:

>Tracker, set it to HybridPoint/Area.

>Motion Type, set it to Translation, Rotation (To trace it in X, Y and clockwise, anticlockwise directions).

.Now after this, press Track to end and Track to start symbols. it tracks movement of the clip.

.Once tracking is successfully done, now change the Operation mode to "Stabilize". (One can see the image non cropped portions out of the aspect ratio area which resulted due to camera shake in various directions)

.Now under Parameters to smooth: select all except the "scale", as we didn't select Motion Type options such as "Translation, Rotation, Scale" or "Perspective"

>Smoothing Window set to "Gaussian" and tap on "Complete Stabilization".

>Frame Mode set to "Crop" and tap on "Auto Crop" (Now the clip gets cropped and adjusted entirely from start to end).

{ Color Management } : ♦️

.Switch to the Color page of Resolve, go to the Camera Raw tab below and set:

>Decode Using set to "Clip".

>Color Space set to "P3 D60".

>Gamma set to "Linear".

>Highlight recovery checked on.

.Select the first node and go to the top right effects tab and search Color Space Transform (CST) and then drag it over the first node.

[ At First Node ] :

.Under Color Space Transform :

>Input Color Space to "P3-D60".

>Input Gamma to "Linear".

>Output Color Space to "DaVinci Wide Gamut".

>Output Gamma to "DaVinci Intermediate".

.Under Tone Mapping : >Tone Mapping Method to "None".

.Under Gamut Mapping : >Gamut Mapping Method to "None".

.Created several successive individual serial nodes to the first node for further grading and tweaking in DaVinci Wide Gamut and DaVinci Intermediate like Exposure, gamma white balance, contrast, color etc, and can name them too. Then to an exclusive empty last node, apply the same Color Space Transform (CST) from the effects tab on to it.

[ At Last Node ] :

.Under Color Space Transform :

>Input Color Space to "DaVinci Wide Gamut".

>Input Gamma to "DaVinci Intermediate".

>Output Color Space to "Rec.709".

>Output Gamma to "Gamma 2.4".

.Under Tone Mapping : >Tone Mapping Method to "Davinci" (for natural, smooth highlight roll-off for complex, mixed and wide gamut media conversion) or choose Luminance Mapping (for same, standard footage to achieve precise saturated highlights)

.Under Gamut Mapping : >Gamut Mapping Method to "None" (if all colors are within the target color gamut) or Saturation Compression (only for avoiding the colors clipped outside of the color gamut and to naturally preserve, roll-in within the color gamut).

>In Advanced, ensure Apply Forward OOTF and Use White Point Adaptation were selected.

{ Color Correction and Color Grading } : ♦️

.Now I did color grading under those several individual nodes between first and last nodes.

.At first I color corrected the image, using 3 nodes like adjusting exposure, contrast and then white balance using (Lift, Gamma, Gain, Offset) Color Wheels also tweaked Camera Raw tab direct source settings if needed.

.Then I started grading manually using several things beside Color Wheels like Curves, Power Windows, Qualifier - HSL, ColorSlice etc. Also, DWG(input) to DWG(output) creative look LUT and a Film Look Creator plugin from the Effects library used for some clips.

  1. EXPORT VIDEO : ⚡

I opted for very high quality export settings at H265 10bit, with MP4 as container format.

Under Export Video:

>Format set to "MP4" (mp4 is compatible with youtube and also with other platforms).

>Codec set to "H.265" (for better efficient file size while maintaining the same quality as H.264, (if you want to upload on instagram like platforms then choose H.264.)

>Encoder set to "Nvidia" (if you have a good vram & modern gpu like NVDIA or AMD or leave it in "Auto" if you had no dedicated gpu )

>Network Optimization option checked (for better instant file playback in youtube or in external media players by reading the whole metadata at starting itself)

>Quality set to "Restrict To 80000 kbps or 100000 kbps

>Encoding Profile set to Main10 (for 10bit)

>Rate Control set to "Variable Bitrate"

>Multi Encode set to "Enabled"

>Preset set to "Very Slow"

>Tuning set to "Ultra High Quality"

>Two pass set to "Full" ( has a definite performance hit and video render export time )

>Lookahead increased from 16 to 20 frames ( increasing it has very high performance hit and video render export time)

>AQ Strength increased from 8 to max value 15 ( high performance hit and video render export time )

.under it select "Enable weighted prediction" and "Temporal Filtering"

Under Advanced Settings : Select "Force sizing to highest quality" and "Force debayer to highest quality" and unselect "Bypass re-encode when possible".

Finally tap on Add to Render queue and then press Render all. (It took 2hrs approximately to render and export the final video file of 2min 47sec as I had rtx 4050 6gb vram with 16gb Ram.

I HOPE YOU FOUND THE INFO HELPFUL and THOUGHTFUL regarding my workflow choices and procedural steps.👍

KZ DUONIC Standard VS BASS improved version with switches which is better in tonality.

I have seen 2 versions of the KZ duonic. one is silver coloured with no switches and the other is in black with switches, bass improved version.

👉 I don't know much about switches, I want to know if the bass improved version switches are at 0000 by default then is it equal in tonality and sound to normal, standard silver version with no switches, Or the silver version had a different tuning preference by default

Also if there's a difference then what's the balanced and best tuning preference of Bass improved version with switches that's better than standard, normal silver version with no switches.

I've seen one quoting 1111 as a good choice, is it better than silver one without tuning switches.

7HZ Elua Ultra or GK STREAK, KZ duonic 3, which one is technically better in terms of resolution and natural detail retrieval, with better midbass slam, texture and quality. (Purchase decision)

I want to buy an iem under 3k range which had better technicalities, being said that it has to be natural and rounded at higher frequencies, not too harsh and ear piercing....

I've come across these three, and tell me which one had better detail, clarity up top, natural mids, punchy mid bass texture with decent sub bass quality and rumble.

Also suggest any other IEMS if you know they are better than these..
