Monthly Update: Armenian Games App (New "Հավաքել նկարները" puzzle mode, seeking your photos & ideas!)

Բարև բոլորին,

A while ago I posted here about my Armenian Games app, and you guys gave me really encouraging feedback. If it's okay with everyone, I’d love to share a small progress update here once a month. I promise to keep it to just one post a month so I don't spam the subreddit.

Right now, the game is available in Eastern Armenian and English. For the June update, I just added a few new things:

  • "Հավաքել նկարները" (Assemble the Pictures): A new puzzle mode where you can piece together pictures of Armenian art, landmarks, and cultural heritage.
  • New photo backgrounds: You can now unlock shop backgrounds of Yerevan, Gyumri, Sevan, Vanadzor, and Haghpat.
  • Fixes and performance: Made the game load faster and fixed the star ratings bug in the letter match game.

I would really love to get your input on what to add next, especially since I want to make the game better for the Diaspora:

  • Western Armenian (coming in July): I am planning to add Western Armenian next month. If you speak Western Armenian or are from the Diaspora, what kind of words, games, or cultural themes would make the app most interesting or useful for you?
  • Send your photos: If you have any high-quality photos of your city or town (in Armenia, Artsakh, or the Diaspora) and want to see them as a puzzle or background in the game, let me know!
  • Bugs and ideas: If you run into any issues or have ideas for new mini-games, please drop a comment.

If you want to stay in touch and get these updates by email once a month, you can sign up here: https://forms.gle/Z2rP5tKZs1RnuNJL8

And you can download or update the game on Google Play here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fluctu8studio.armgames

Thanks so much for the support and your ideas!

Google Ads flagging my Armenian game for "unsupported language." Best alternatives?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to run some app install ads for my new mobile game, which is in Armenian.

My Google Play Store page is bilingual (English and Armenian), and I tried writing my actual ad headlines in English to get around the rules. However, Google is still rejecting the campaign for "unsupported language".

Has anyone dealt with this "unsupported language" issue before? Is there any workaround on Google Ads, or is it just a dead end for regional languages?

If I have to move my budget elsewhere. Has anyone used either of those for promoting localized mobile games?

Thanks!

Looking for some honest feedback on a bilingual Armenian game I developed (Android)

Բարև ձեզ։

I hope it’s okay to post this here. I’m an independent developer and I recently launched an Android app called "Armenian Games." It is a collection of 8 small casual, puzzle, and word games all in one app.

The game is fully bilingual (Armenian and English), and I originally built it to be a fun, casual way for Armenians around the world, especially in the diaspora, to practice their Armenian letters and vocabulary.

I’m posting here because I recently received a silent 1-star review on Google Play with absolutely no explanation. As a solo developer, it’s really hard to know what to fix when there is no written feedback. I don't know if the app is crashing on certain devices, if the word puzzles are too confusing, or if the layout is just bad.

If you have an Android device and a few minutes, I would be incredibly grateful if you could try it out and give me your honest, unfiltered thoughts. Please let me know if you run into any bugs, if you find any spelling mistakes, or if you have ideas for new mini-games I should add.

You don't have to write a review on the Play Store, just commenting here or sending me a private message is more than enough.

To the moderators: I know self-promotion can be annoying, so if this violates the rules of the community, please feel free to delete the post. I completely understand.

Thank you so much for your time and help!

I know I promised not to post here again, but I really need some honest help with my Armenian game.

Hey everyone,

I want to apologize right away. When I posted here a while ago, I received some helpful feedback and I promised I wouldn't post about my game here again because I didn't want to spam the community.

I feel really bad about breaking that promise, but I am honestly stuck. I recently got a single 1-star review on Google Play with no text,  and it's driving me crazy because I have no idea what went wrong.  Because this game is made specifically for the Armenian community (it has 8 small Armenian word and puzzle games in it), I can't get feedback from general Android forums to know what is broken. I don't know if the app is crashing, if the word puzzles are wrong, or if the UI is completely broken, or ads too much.

To the mods: if this is too much or if breaking my promise is not okay, please feel free to delete this right away. I completely understand.

I am not looking for downloads or money. I just genuinely want to know how to fix the app and make it actually work for the people it was built for. If anyone has a few minutes to test it on an Android device and let me know what needs fixing, I would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you, and I apologize again for posting here twice.

The unique vocabulary of modern Armenian politics: Has anyone compiled a list of these neologisms?

I just saw a post here that got me thinking about how, over the last few years, the political situation in Armenia has generated a lot of new slang words and neologisms. It seems like a very interesting subject for modern anthropological or linguistic study, how people create derogatory or descriptive names based on specific political events.

Here are a few prominent examples:

  • "Pizzayaker" (Պիցցայակեր / Pizza-eater): Originally used to describe opposition protesters, stemming from claims/videos of protesters being fed pizza at rallies, implying they are paid participants.
  • "Zombi" (Զոմբի): Used by the opposition to describe blind, uncritical followers of Nikol Pashinyan who support him regardless of the circumstances.
  • "Usapark" (Ուսապարկ / Backpack): Refers to members of the ruling Civil Contract party. It references the famous backpack Pashinyan wore during his 2018 march, implying these MPs have no independent political value and are just "backpacks" carried by the Prime Minister.
  • "Kukuruz utogh" (Կուկուրուզ ուտող / Corn-eater): This term originated from pre-election campaign videos where Pashinyan and his teammates were filmed eating boiled corn in a bus while traveling to villages. The opposition turned it into a pejorative term to mock the ruling party's populist style and those who support them.

Has anyone seen a database, article, or thesis collecting these terms? It would be interesting to see how many of these words have entered daily usage and how they reflect the polarization of our society. Or we can collect here.

Do you remember any other terms like these from the last few years? Please write them in the comments so we can compile a bigger list.

Hey everyone,

I’m super frustrated with the Play Console right now and wanted to see if anyone else is dealing with this, or if I just got unlucky.

About 2 months ago, I published a game. I got the required testers, but honestly, almost no one actively opened it or kept it installed. Despite that, the 14-day timer finished and Google approved it for Production with zero issues.

Fast forward to today: I just finished a much better, more polished project (it has 6 mini-games). I got my 12 testers opted in, waited the 14 days, but this time I got hit with the rejection: "Your game requires more testing... Run your closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 more days."

Did Google shadow-update their AI reviewer recently to make it way stricter? It feels completely random that a worse game passed easily 2 months ago, but this one got blocked.

For those of you who have successfully passed this screen recently, what is the actual formula to satisfy the bot?

  1. Do my testers actually need to open it every single day?
  2. How many minutes do they need to play per session?
  3. Do I absolutely need to push an update during these next 14 days to prove I'm "active"?

Any advice on how to game the bot would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
