My kids love episodes of Gabby, could watch them for 2+ hours if we let them. We tried the movie and it broke completely from the format. The animated characters barely existed, and the whole story centered around a new villain character (Kristen Wiig) who has no history in the tv show. For SpongeBob, the whole movie centered on a dead/trapped ghost pirate.
SpongeBob is PG, granted, but Gabby’s is G. Why not just make a longer, multi arc story that follows closer to the TV vibe. I get you need to fill 2 hours, but is a new villain the only way?
