If you speak German, this might be of interest to you

I play on roleplay servers based on Legend of the Green Dragon. It's is a PHP-based online browser game, but most people now use it as a platform for role-playing.

>>> This is - NOT- a site that offers bots, but rather a platform where you can play text-based fantasy roleplay with real people. It is (in my opinion) the best text-based role-playing experience you can find aside from bots. <<<

I wanted to share it here because I believe these roleplay servers deserve far more attention, as they offer incredible potential for roleplay. I myself have been active on these servers since 2009~. Unfortunately, only three or four of them are still active. Personally, I recommend Venar de.

The roleplay is usually in a novel-like style and in third person, with each player creating their own character(s). In that sense, it feels a bit like pen-and-paper RPGs, just online. You can play virtually anything - human, elf, demon, dragon, god - there are no restrictions as long as it doesn't violate the server rules.

You create a character profile / bio and can jump straight into roleplaying. If you need help, other players are usually more than happy to assist you. At first, the many different colors may seem a little confusing, but they're actually very useful because each player can choose their character's writing and speech colors, helping to avoid confusion and making everything easier to follow.

There are both public and private chat locations. To start an RP, you can either post your character in a public location and wait for interaction, or simply message another user and ask if they'd like to play. Roleplays involving multiple players are also no problem.

I thought maybe some people here might be interested in this kind of roleplay server. Unfortunately, I only know of German-language servers. I don't know if there are any English-language ones.

My SSHL does not fully heal

I'm dealing with my SSHL for about half a year now. At the beginning, it behaved like a normal SSHL, although it took longer to heal than what I kept reading online, where it’s usually said to take only about two or three weeks (mine needed 3 months to heal up for the first time).

However, I had two relapses, each time after being in louder environments for a longer period (two or three hours). Every time after that, I again got strong pressure in my ear, jaw pain and my hyperacusis also got worse again. Fortunately, I didn't experience any new hearing loss, just all the other symptoms of SSHL.

After the first relapses, everything healed again completely after about three to four weeks. I’m currently two weeks into my second relapse; this time, too, the symptoms have improved, but I still feel a slight pressure in my ear, and the hyperacusis is bad every morning.

Why am I still having such severe problems after half a year? I’m starting to worry that it might not heal fully and that my ear is now permanently sensitive. I don’t want to spend my whole life just staying at home. Earplugs are uncomfortable and start hurting after a short time, so they’re not a long-term solution for me, especially since I can’t understand people while wearing them.

The loud tinnitus is already driving me crazy enough, and I know it's untreatable, but why won't all the other symptoms disappear? After all this time, shouldn't my ear be healed by now? Even a broken bone heals faster than this.

Does anyone here have experience with long-lasting problems (apart from hearing loss and tinnitus) after SSHL?

I don't know how much longer I can keep going

Five months ago, I suffered sudden hearing loss on my left ear. Along with a strong feeling of pressure and a clogged sensation in my ear, as well as mild hyperacusis, it also left me with a low humming sound. So far, so good. All of that healed quite well, and the humming became so quiet that it barely bothered me anymore. From that point on (about three and a half months later), I was doing great again. My hearing has returned to normal, except for a slight loss in the high-frequency range of about 20 dB. I started getting back to my normal life, going outside, enjoying nature, skating - you name it.

Then, all of a sudden, four days after spending time in the city, I noticed a sounds that hadn't been there before. Within a few hours it became increasingly noticeable, and from that moment on I was certain: A new tinnitus. More specifically, this sudden new tinnitus consists of three new sounds at once - a quiet constant tone on the left, another one on the right (in my healthy ear, lol), and on top of that I experience head zaps in the middle. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the pressure in my ear + jaw pain came back as well, along with the hyperacusis, this time worse than before.

Three weeks later, everything except the tinnitus disappeared, and once again I tried to slowly get back to living my life. This time I was more careful. But then BAM - just two hours in the city, and the intense ear pressure and jaw pain returned, along with severe hyperacusis (thankfully no new tinnitus this time).

I honestly can't take this much longer. Every time I manage to pull myself out of this hole, everything falls apart again or gets even worse? The loud tinnitus tones alone are hell (they drown out a busy street), and the pressure sensation is very uncomfortable, as if my head were inflated. The hyperacusis is just as bad. The ENT doctor is at a loss (I don't have any new hearing loss).

Before the SSHL I never had any problems with my ears, but now it seems like I’m just having one bad streak after another. If only it were just that hell of a tinnitus, but no - I keep getting all the symptoms of my SSHL over and over again but without hearing loss. I hardly enjoy anything anymore, and I’m only keeping going for my family’s sake...

Hingerichtet werden was? So was geht doch easy schöner.

I had SSHL (sudden hearing loss) 4 months ago. I’ve been trying to cope with my tinnitus since then. I have two types of noise in my ears: A whistling sound and a pulsating / morse code like hum. Unfortunately, the whistling has suddenly gotten much louder over the past three days, almost overnight. It could also be a new sound, louder than the old whistle. It's hard to tell.

I haven't done anything different than usual except trying to get back into life little by little. About two weeks ago, I started using headphones again, since my ENT said it is ok to do so. But not too loud and not for too long (60/60 rule), and not every day - in fact, hardly ever. I also went outside a bit more, going to the city. Idk if that was already too much?

Do you guys think it could just be a spike? The (old) whistle sound never spiked so far. It has remained the same throughout the past few months, right up until now.

I'm slowly losing my mind. The new / louder whistling sound is even worse than the humming and drowns out everything, even street noise.
