Recently posted that I am making the leap from k-5 PE to middle school PE. I have no clue where to start

I’m looking for some possible insight and advice on where I should start. For background, I did go to university for PE, but that program was primarily centered around primary rather than secondary PE. At this new school, I’m going to be the sole PE teacher. I will basically be going in blind as to what routines and procedures the former teacher used, and I’d like to know what I should use as well.

I’d also be interested to see some sample lesson plans or unit plans just to gain ideas if anyone would be willing to help out.

Thank you.

Curious question for the ladies: what’s your type physically?

Just a curious question for the ladies here! What’s the type of men you go for usually? I personally am a 5’7, heavier man that was blessed with nice eyes and a good beard. I have many ex-girlfriends and no two look-alike. I’ve dated women shorter and taller than me, lighter and heavier than me, along with older and younger than me. (I’m 25)

I don’t really have a type, but out of curiosity do you stick to a specific type? Why or why not?

Anyone else do most things alone over summer? I have no single teacher friends close to my age

24M here from Tennessee. I never mind going out and doing things solo. (Actually going to the beach solo next week) but sometimes I do wish I had a friend or two to get out with—specifically during the week. I think the biggest issue is that not many young people are getting into the profession anymore, and the ones I do know that are in it have significant others. Anyone else run into this sort of thing?

Ps: I’m not complaining at all about being off from work.

Coming in solo next week. Recommendations on where to potentially meet and mingle with other singles? Also recommendations on other things to do while in town other than sit on the beach.

Hello all. Traveling in from Nashville TN next week for a 6 day solo stay. The trip was originally planned with an ex-girlfriend but that didn’t pan out so I’ve decided to come anyways. I am a younger man 25M.

Thanks and looking forward to a nice vacation.

Considering changing from K-5 to middle school PE

I’m 24 years old. I’ve taught one year of k-5 PE and I really enjoyed it. The issue is I’ve been driving 50 mins to work each way and that is getting old fast. I also had a co-teacher who showed me the ropes. Second, I’ve been offered a 6-8 PE position at a school only 15 minutes away and I’m considering taking it. However, I’d be the Only PE teacher. They haven’t mentioned coaching or anything, but I do have a year of assistant football and track and field coaching. I also worked in a middle school for a year as classified staff before I landed a PE position.

Is it worth it to move into the middle school PE setting. My gut is telling me I should take the opportunity but I feel like I’d have no clue where to start especially being the only PE teacher in building.

Who here lives with their parents or family members?

I have a good job and make decent money. But I find myself falling short every month and even overspending due to my alcohol consumption. I get paid once a month with my job and every month about 2 weeks in I find myself broke due to spending money on drinking. I need to tone it back but I’m just not doing it. Maybe one day. I’m 25 for context.

I’m eating steak and drinking whiskey at 1 pm on a Wednesday. Summer break is AWESOME

Hi all, I hope your summer break or the end of your school year is going smoothly. Just making a happy post:) I made a similar post last summer around this time about eating wings and drinking beer during the day on a weekday.

What are you doing today?

Have you been able to give up cigarettes while still drinking?

I’ve been drinking heavily and nearly daily for the past 4-5 years. I have pretty much never enjoyed smoking unless I was buzzed or drunk. But hell, when you’re drunk 6-7 days a week, it makes you a regular or heavy smoker. It’s become a more often habit over the years. Let’s say I take 5 days sober, I won’t dare smoke, just because I’m not into it. I even tried vaping and didn’t smoke a cigarette for about 2-3 months but it was never the same. I also dipped tobacco for about 10 or so years and it never hit the same. Any stories like mine or suggestions perhaps?

Huge wake up call

I totaled my truck last night. I wasn’t hammered but I wasn’t sober. A deer ran right in front of me and I swerved and missed it and lost control and ran off the road into an embankment. My truck is fucked. Ambulance and cops showed up. I somehow managed to not go to jail. I refused the hospital. I’m okay. Managed to come out with a scratch on my neck and that’s it. If I didn’t have my seatbelt on, it likely would have killed me because I would have ejected from the vehicle.

This has all made me realize that I’ve been risking it way too much my whole adult life. I wasn’t even drunk at the time but it made me realize that just a deer could completely turn my life upside down or someone else’s.

This one’s not for quitting drinking, it’s just for no more drinking and driving. I guess drinking at home is the only option now. There are no Ubers in my area. “Too rural” apparently.
