Is PP the best cost x benefit status?

Hi all,

I have been Platinum Pro for two years and this is my first cycle as EP.

I wanted to discuss a perception I had during this first six months. After spending this time in the higher level, I’m still wondering if PP is already the best status considering cost x benefit.

You will board at Group 2 (still a very early entrance), you already get Emerald at OneWorld (access to the higher lounges), and most partner benefits are already unlocked at this point. You get 3 free checked luggage and complimentary Main Cabin Extra.

The main difference is in Upgrades list (which are getting rarer day after day, specially in long haul flights) and bonus miles earned (80% x 120%, but they don’t count as LPs anyway).

EP is of course a better status but you need 75k more miles to reach it when compared to the difference between Platinum and Platinum Pro (50k), where actually there is a huge gap.

I live in Brazil and needed to do quite a stretch to reach EP this year. Thinking if I should target for PP in 26/27 cycle and keep it going this way if nothing changes.

What do you guys think?

Opinions on LFE+Main

Hi all,

My current setup is a Denon S970H with Monitor Audio Bronze 500 (Front), Bronze Center and Polk In-Ceiling Rear, SVS SB-2000 Subwoofer.

After reading a lot about calibration I ran Audissey and tweaked the settings manually to set my Front Crossover 40Hz and Center for 60Hz.

LFE settings were set to Subwoofer only.

However, I have a pretty large open space apartment and I always felt a very crystal separation between my speakers. Sound never seemed to blend and sound like a single track. Also, I always felt a lack of bass for music and had to constantly move my SW gain settings up and down while listening to different songs.

So this afternoon I decided to play a bit with my receiver settings and set my front speakers to “Full Range” since they are floorstanding units meant to handle from 30Hz and up.

I have also changed my LFE settings to LFE+Main…

And man, now it’s a whole another level.

My soundstage seems much more blended and fuller than before. Sounds like a whole different system. I can keep my subwoofer volume on a fixed value and bass will fill my room entirely with the help of my front speakers.

My question is: am I doing something wrong in keeping those settings this way? Do I risk damaging anything in the system?

And also, why does everyone recommend leaving the bass management settings to separate subwoofer from side speakers completely even if they are large floorstanding speakers?

Thank you!

Tips for keeping pants in place

Hi there,

I have a very particular build - 171 cm, 90 kg, but I don’t have a large belly. My body fat is mostrou distributed in the sides of my core, hips and thighs. My belly is “soft”, I can ‘vacuum ‘ it pretty easily, so my waist changes dimensions all the time when I move.

I’m losing weight, but even when I was slimmer I had a similar build so the thing here is not just about being overweight or not.

I have never had a good experience wearing pants with a tucked shirt:

- If I use a high rise pair, even if it fits perfect, it falls from place because my belly is not that ‘hard’;

- If I use a belt, I have to keep it very tight to keep pants in place, but considering the same point above, the belt ‘strangulates’ my belly and makes the pants become stuffed in waist area.

- Side adjusters never work because doesn’t matter how hard I tighten them, when I sit, my body fat ‘redistributes’ and loosen them.

So I’m thinking on how I should solve this.

I wear suspenders when I’m using a full suit (with tie) but I’ve read a few times that they are not advised if you’re wearing only pants and jacket (or sports coat) with no tie, which is my kind of clothes 90% of the time.

Also I don’t always wear dress pants, I kind of alternate between them and chinos depending on the environment. I have also read that chinos and suspenders are no go (they dont event come with inner buttons for the suspenders), even with jackets on.

I am wondering if someone has some advice on this.

Thank you!

About early checkout- Aadvantage Hotels

Hi,

I have booked a hotel via AAdvantage Hotels for next week and I already know that I’m leaving one day before the scheduled day in the booking.

Tried to cancel and change dates, but it’s now non-refundable and impossible to change. So I decided to keep it that way and pay for the extra (non-used) day considering that’s financially better this way.

Does anyone know if I’m still getting my miles if I do that?

I’m asking because my statement will say that I left earlier (one day before) and this might represent a break of the booking contract.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks
