Renault Captur (and thus also Clio V) steering feel and feedback, for those who might care

Hi!
I'm in the process of choosing a car for my girlfriend and one of our priorities is a good steering feedback so she can learn the way the car actually talks to her.
I've recently been to Renault dealer and test drove the Captur, which is still made with a very similar rack as Clio V since they are on the same platform. Note that Clio VI is different.

The main purpose of this visit was to judge the feedback of the steering system and chassis. To do that, I took the car on a road where I try to test all the cars, it's a very twisty road with sharp corners.

The steering felt direct and really fast, but overall completely crossed out the car from our list. The wheel offered zero texture in absolutely all possible conditions of the road. There are a few different surfaces I drive on that road and the car has never communicated any of it with me. I do think texture is important but weighting is even more so.

And this is exactly what crossed the car out. The rack actually tries to simulate weighting but does it in a way that creates a big dissonance in your brain. The weight is wrong, it changes wrongly, it isn't in any way natural. The car has good grip and I couldn't push it to understeer on this road without creating a safety hazard, but I'm absolutely sure that I would learn of the understeer from the chassis, not the steering.

The chassis was actually really fun and dynamic, even though it had a lot of body roll. I was having fun with how nippy it was. The body roll itself gave 10x more information than the steering though.

The car was well equipped and super practical, but sadly I cannot recommend Renault Clio V or Captur II to anyone who aims for a communicative car. We're going to check out Yaris and Ford Puma next. Will update about it.

For reference, these are some of the cars I've owned or driven for more than just a short calm drive:
- Citroen C-Crosser 2008
- Mazda CX-5 2013
- Alfa 159 2010 (current daily)
- Jaguar F-Pace
- Mercedes E63 AMG W213 (considered for the new daily)

Small/compact fully self parking car in Europe? Second hand only

Hi, I'm looking for a car for my girlfriend. She's a doctor and has 24h shifts after which she's extremely tired. She needs a car that will reliably help her - automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, fully automatic parking (I mean a full self-parking, where the car controls gas, brake and steering, not just the steering), full 360 degree cameras. We would love a boot space of at least 350 liters and length of no more than 4.3 meters. What are the actual options for her in this case? We were thinking about Renault Clio V, but they only added auto parking in 2023 when they also replaced the DCT automatic with a CVT+hybrid option that reduced boot space from 391 to 300 liters. We can't afford a new car and would prefer to keep it up to 10k GBP/ 12k EUR second hand.

EDIT: I mean a full self-parking, where the car controls gas, brake and steering, not just the steering.

Source of rough lab alexandrite with strong colors? (more blue than red leaning, not too dark)

Hi! I'm hoping to make an engagement ring of my dreams for the love of my life and I have asked Sebastien Geindreau (https://www.geindreausgemstones.com/) to cut it for me in an asymmetrical cut. Problem is, I need to find the source of a rough material.

I have troubles finding a good source of alexandrite that would have a strong color AND good color change, a lot of them are mostly transparent, some are very dark. I want good saturation and a color that will make the gem look like something from space, a piece of a galaxy, nebula or night sky.

I know GemsOfScience has some but they haven't responded to my questions for which one would be good for the project.

Would you have anything to recommend?

Another question is the axis, I know alexandrite has a blue/green, pink/red and orange axes. I don't want it to look mostly red, I'd prefer a strong blue (anywhere from greenish teal to purple leaning blue) color with red/purple reflexions. Which axis of alexandrite should be facing towards the ring if we want to achieve these colors?

Thanks for help in advance!

Looking for precision custom cut lab alexandrite in Europe - any recommendations?

Hi, I have my engagement coming up quite soon (September) and I'm trying to find people to make the ring I dream of gifting my girlfriend. Sadly I couldn't find any gem cutters in Europe who would do lab alexandrite, the only one I've found is Garden of Eden, I don't know if their cuts are good. Would you recommend someone who you know works with alexandrite? I can order in US (but it's really expensive for someone from Poland) and the wait time is concerning since I also need to make a ring and set the stone. Thanks in advance!
