I didn’t get this reference in Scary Movie at first when the first girl said she slept with him, but after becoming a Prince fan and learning about 👁️ Hate U, this makes much more sense now since the first girl was played by Carmen Electra
Pretty big OutKast fan and didn’t realize how much Prince influenced Andre 3000 here until listening to his music
For me, it kinda has to be since I can never get tired of it nor is it out of my rotation. Play this jam nearly daily and it’s one of the most replayable songs Prince has. Love the fun sound to it as well
I love this version, but I’d find very little reason to ever listen to it unless I just want 20 minutes to pass by. Also made me think of the fact that The Revolution played for 22 minutes just for the song to get cut down to a little under 4, but a lovely experience
Reverse of my last post, but personally I’d have to go with Pop Life as I’m listening to it. The 9 minute version is magnificent and I kinda wish it would never end
Recently I started to enjoy Automatic after listening to the shortened version of 1999’s deluxe and man is it a damn good song, but I feel Prince was going overboard making it 9 and a half minutes. Great song, but overstays its welcome by about 6 minutes
While listening to Homework on streaming, I always found it odd how Revolution 909 transitions into Da Funk because the ending sound byte sounds like it should be one cohesive sound to get from 909 to Da Funk, but it doesn’t. It ends off Revolution and is repeated in the beginning of Da Funk. After listening to it on my vinyl, my suspicions were confirmed as it transitions correctly. Same goes for Discovery when listening to One More Time. I have it on CD and the sudden shift from One More Time to Aerodynamic caught me off guard, but makes much more sense to do than just let OMT fade out and then let Aerodynamic start. Anyone else notice this?
I want to finish my ranking of his albums, but man after 35 albums I just wanna be done already. I know I’m at the end of the road, but this journey does make me wish Prince released less music or at least less standard studio albums because 40 albums is insane. I still appreciate his music and work ethic and while Prince has some of the greatest music known to man, he also has some album runs that are mediocre like his run from Chaos and Disorder to NEWS or from Planet Earth to 20Ten. Still love Prince, but it’s hard to want to listen to PLECTRUMELECTRUM after 35 albums knowing there’s 5 more waiting
Some of my favorites
Chris as The Kid in Everybody Hates Chris
Rain in Mortal Kombat (Purple ninja named Rain)
The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust (WWF/WWE)
When I ranked it after hearing it for the first time a few weeks ago, I ranked it close to the bottom of his albums and it’s been growing on me a lot, so I’m curious on the what Prince fans think of it?
I was checking to see if the copy I got of S/T was an original pressing from the year it released and based on the information Google gave me, I do, but I wanted to verify with any fans if I got an original press for a whopping $6
I just finished the game about an hour and a half ago, so it’s still fresh in my mind
The self titled album was a surprise not only because it was in the used section instead of the Prince section, but it was also only $6. Also forgot the record store has CDs and they were all pretty cheap, even Emancipation was only $8
EDIT: The sixth album is Musicology, didn’t notice I forgot to add it here
*Favorite Song overall
Wanted to make a less controversial post and go over my favorite songs on each album. I’m more than happy to listen to any recommendations I may have missed.
Just a note: I did have trouble ranking some albums after Rave, so some may seem a bit questionable
Not sure if this has been asked, but I’m curious on if any of you believe he would still be making albums currently because of his work ethic and passion for music or if he would figure to hang up the guitar at some point if he was still here
