Equinox to Blazer

Hello, I am looking at a 2024 Blazer EV LT with comfort and convenience package and sunroof. It has 17k miles for $26k OTD. I test drove it and enjoyed it. I am coming out of a 2025 Equinox EV LT (without any of the packages) that I had purchased brand new but it unfortunately got totaled. I have been having a hard time finding a replacement. I am not interested in the models that have the 21in wheels so it has limited my search even more.

I'm wondering if anyone regrets going from the Equinox to the Blazer. One thing I don't like is the range but I do have free charging at work and a charger at home.

Thanks in advance!

Repair?

Continuing my search for a replacement. Looking at a 2024 launch edition. It's at a Toyota dealership. Carfax is clean and it seems like a great deal. However, this is the steering wheel - I was going to see if they could have it repaired at a Chevy dealership before purchase (I don't want them to repair it to void any warranty).

Any thoughts on this? I'm concerned this is more than just a plastic piece but houses supercruise sensors. Trying to decide if I should just walk away.

Which would you buy?

Looking at replacing my 2025 EQ EV LT base model that sadly was totaled.

I'm looking at:

2024 EQ EV RS with 15,000 miles (does have supercruise) for $26k out the door price. Clean carfax but was used as a corporate/fleet vehicle.

2026 EQ EV LT base with 10,000 miles for $29,800 out the door. Clean Carfax.

I'm open to keep looking but being down to 1 car in our family has been challenging. It's been hard to find pre-owned in my area and that's what I'm planning to buy.

Anything I should consider? I know 2024s don't have the connectivity to apps like 2025 and newer, but would my phone's hotspot fix this? I also know supercruise costs money and may not use this feature. I also know the 21inch tires on the RS are pricey...which sucks!

One year ownership

Today marks 1 year of owning my 2025 Equinox EV - my first EV. I purchased brand new last year before the tax credit went away. I figured I'd write how it's going to help others in making a decision.

Some initial specs:

Mileage for the year: 9,478

Average mi/kWh: 4.1

Just to charged to 100% and range indicates 351 miles.

Amount spent on charging: $203 for the year - I charge mostly for free at work but I do have the Emporia level 2 home charger that I love. Total cost for the charger and installation was $1200.

1 service appointment at 7,500 miles - tire rotation and overall check. They did check the passenger door for the door seal recall.

Overall, this car has been amazing. I had no idea how I would transition from an ICE to an EV but it's been surprisingly great and I have no plans to go back. The free charging at work has been amazing in keeping costs even lower for an EV but having the home charger is a necessity in maximizing cost savings. I have also loved not having oil changes and have saved money that way.

The car drives smooth and is all around fun to drive. It is also pretty spacious. I have only encountered one issue so far and that has been with the climate control randomly turning on and blasting to 76 degrees. This went away once the car was the shut off and parked for a bit. Other than that, everything has been smooth sailing.

I have not taken the car on a long road trip yet - longest drive was 2 1/2 hours. I didn't need to stop anywhere to charge as the hotel had a charger. I also have not tried level 3 charging yet since I have not had a need. I'm sure I'll eventually try it out.

My only regret so far is not getting the trim model that has the roof rails. But, it was slim pickings last summer as everyone was scrambling to purchase EVs before the tax credit went away.

I ended up scoring what I would consider a solid deal for an amazing brand new car - $23,000 out the door price after all rebates and credits (not including my trade-in). They also gave me 0% financing for 60 months.

I would absolutely purchase this vehicle again and would highly recommend it.

My Whirlpool fridge (WRB322DMBM00) stopped cooling in the fridge but the freezer was working. This is the 3rd or 4th time this has happened. We had the evaporator fan replaced a few years ago. I defrosted the entire fridge and left it unplugged. I was getting ready to purchase a new fridge but when I plugged it back in after a full defrost, it seems to be cooling again. Is it likely back in order or is it inevitable that it will break again? It is 11 years old and I'm not sure we want to repair it since it's an older newer appliance and they don't last like they used to.

Update: We defrosted the entire freezer and unplugged it. We then plugged it back in and the fridge is cooling again? Is it now fixed or should we still plan to purchase a new one?

Our 11 year old Whirlpool fridge is broken (for the 4th time). It is the fan that runs from freezer to fridge. The freezer works fine but the fridge won't cool. We're thinking it's time to throw in the towel on it.

We are really wanting a side by side vs. pull out drawer freezer. However, every one that fits in our space that we like has the external water/ice dispenser. We do not have a water line to the fridge and do not want to install one. Would it be stupid to buy a fridge that has that feature and just never hook it up? I assume it still runs as usual without that feature.
