So I went to Beechley today (Cardiff Queen St)

I’m in Cardiff for a short holiday and during one of my trips I had to make a detour through the station. Took me no more than 5 seconds to realise why the layout looked familiar, as this is one of my favourite stations as DS.

Funny enough my hotel is right next to Cardiff Bay (wiki says it’s Stepford Bay), and I did take the train departing from platform 1 as per Stepford rules

Ku? Di?? peach (probably "Kun Diso" or "Kun Dice", exact name unretrievable)

So it was a summer night with heavy Eastern European vibes and I entered a restaurant in a decent sized wooden cabin. The menu was old and yellowish, and in the bottom right corner, using the same font as dish catagories like "APPETISER" or "ENTREE", wrote the words "KUN DISO PEACH" (or similar), with a photo of such bad quality everything in it had a weird green shade.

I've always been an avid fan of peaches, so without hesitation I asked what it would be like and the receptionist presented a sample. My brain analysed the structure for me:

  • The peach was poached and the outside glaze is somewhat like the water in canned peaches but reduced. It was whole when first presented and only cut open afterhand to reveal the interior.
  • Inside, the pit was removed and replaced with an apple puree, with a texture between puree and sorbet, and cooked with fennel/anise (these two are referred by the same term in my native language so I can't tell which one was correct). An alcohol was also present and likely to be absinthe, but it might as well have referred to something generic like vodka.
  • The whole dish is served cold. At the bottom was some whipped cream with the consistency as if it was scrubbed off directly from a shortcake. It kept appearing and disappearing in my sight and I couldn't remember if it should be present.

Imagine my excitement of seeing this dish. And imagine the frustration that I never got to taste it, because NPCs in my own dream kept ignoring me so much that I couldn't even get my order through without having my seat occupied by someone else.

Fuck everyone in that restaurant.

My friend is participating in a Lithuanian pink soup costume competition and here’s his Pink Soup Knight armour! What do you think?
