[OoT] Figuring the remake's item screen.

I made a mockup of what, to me, makes the most sense for the item placements on the inventory screen. (I know I know, save your compliments for my FANTASTIC art)

Things I've noticed:

  1. There's a fifth bottle! This basically confirms that there's gonna be new side content outside of flavour dialogue. I was a tiny bit worried that that wouldn't be the case after seeing how faithful this remake is, but I'm glad to be proven otherwise! It'll definitely make that gosh-awful Big Poe hunt more tollerable.

  2. You might notice that masks, and the Lens of Truth aren't here. That's because they seem to have been moved to the equipment screen. In certain footage, you can see the Lens being set to up on the D-Pad, and the equipment screen has two different things that can be set to that button. Makes sense that the masks would be there too, seeing as that's also headgear.

  3. I was hesitant to include the Ocarina on the bottom-right, since it's always set to the D-Pad, but I decided to include it since it fit so perfectly there. Could just be there for visual's sake.

I apologize if this has already been made and discussed. I'm not active whatsoever on this subreddit. Thanks for reading! Bye!

Corrupted Mii faces in Wii Play.

I don't have a screenshot sadly, so you're gonna have to take my word. I was playing Wii Play on a Macbook, and it started out fine. But when I got to 'Find Mii', I noticed a LOT of the Mii's faces were totally corrupted. I'm sure someone has had this problem before, and hopefully it's an easy fix. I reallllly wanna play the 'Wii' series of games without corrupted Miis. Heck even my own Mii became corrupted looking in the Wii Play menu.

Oh, here's some info that might help. My graphics renderer... thing, is 'Metal.'

Do you guys have any info on this?

Hi! So, I recently played the Motorslice Demo on Steam Deck and I LOVE it. I've been speedrunning it and stuff, and I gotta say, ya girl is pretttty good. (That's not true, I keep throwing lol.) Annnyway, I have a question. You're all in-the-know, right? Do any of you lovely folks know if there are any plans for the game to be ported to Nintendo Switch 2? I do have a Steam Deck, yes, but I usually prefer getting my games on Switch, plus, the demo kiiinda runs like crap on Steam Deck. Even on Potato Graphics. While yes, on potato it is hitting 60fps consistently; the deck heats up like a mofo, Like shoot, the hot air coming outa that thing is INSANE. So, here's a bonus question: If there's no plans on bringing the game to Switch 2, is the full game at least better optimized? It is verified on Steam Deck afterall, so I have a good feeling in my cervix that the full game has polished up performance. Must take a whole lotta resources to render that massive city, huh. Oh, and don't be a pain and spoil things for me. Thanks!

PS; I have no idea what part of the body the cervix is.

Murder Drones prioritizes being cool over its plot, and that's okay.

TL;DR for low-attention span folk: (No shame in it, we're all just products of the ever-creeping brain death that the advent of social media has doomed humanity with.)
Murder Drones puts more emphasis on its set-pieces and cool moments rather than its plot and structure, and that's completely okay. Because at the end of the day, the show is insanely enjoyable and memorable because of this priority.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The new J mini-episode has injected the Murder Drones juice back into my blood flow after not thinking about the show for quite a long time. I'm a lot more mature now than I was back when I first watched, and was eagerly awaiting each new episode like a kid waiting by the Christmas tree for presents to arrive. Seriously, I was kinnnnda addicted to this show lol. I couldn't tell you how many times I rewatched every single episode over, and over, and over. Anyway, me being more mature, I'm able to think about the show more retrospectively now, and I can say with confidence... well, you read the title.

It's no secret that this show's plot is hard to follow. Heck even me, Ms. Murder Drones view generator, still has a hard time grasping a lot of the plot, and why characters do the things they do. Some of that may be due to how long it's been since I've watched it, but my point still stands. A lot of this is likely due to the fact that, after the Pilot, the show very clearly went through massive changes with its story and characters, so the rest of the series had to play around those changes. But I think the other part of it, is the show's priorities.

Liam Vickers had very clear ideas for each episode. Each episode can sometimes feel like it's own big set-piece. Why? Because it's COOL. It's cool as crap seeing Uzi and Doll fight in prom dresses, it's cool as crap seeing Solver Uzi tear up half her classmates (never mentioned ever again btw), and it's cool as crap seeing a possessed Uzi fight N in an underground church. A LOT of these cool moments were clearly thought of in Liam Vickers' foreboding void of a brain well before the show was even produced. I'm making a lot of assumptions here, but I truly think that the plot was built around the set-pieces, rather than the set-pieces being built around the plot.

A rigid critic could look at that, and think that it's terrible writing, and that this show is an insult to everything the medium ever was... that's one way to look at it. But from my perspective, this unique style of the show is what makes it so memorable. It's really what made this show so rewatchable for me. Every single turn in an episode, something cool and eye-catching is happening, and it kept me coming back every single time. The only real con to this, is that the plot can kiiiinda feel all over the place. If I'm being real, I don't mind that at all. The show clearly knows that it wants to be a big set-piece, but I know that can rub a lot of people the wrong way.

Another thing that made the plot feel even more hard to follow and jumpy, is the fact that it's an indie show. The story really needed more episodes for the scope of the narrative, but an indie budget just can't compensate that. No matter what, the story was going to suffer, so why not go all out and use the wonderful invention of three-dimensional graphics to show all the PG-13 robot-gore action possible? And that's exactly what Liam Vickers did.

Closing thoughts: Is this show for everyone? Gosh no. The fanbase is a pretty specific niche, with an even specificer niche of those who just watch for the robot women. (Is 'specificer' a word?) Anyway, I've missed this show, and I'm definitely going to be rewatching it very soon. Final thought: since when the heck was this show on Amazon Prime? No seriously, I thought Digital Circus was the only GLITCH show to make it to streaming. Guess I was wrong lol. Anyways, thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day.

[OoA] I might quit the game

Some of you may of have seen a post not too long ago made by me asking about whether I should give the Oracle games a shot. Well, I did! I started playing Oracle of Ages. I was having a great time at first, but once I got to the Crescent Island... it all started going downhill. I still enjoyed some parts, but there were many blatantly poor design choices and un-fun gameplay starting with Crescent Island. The dungeons got worse, and the quest lines before said dungeons got worse too. All of this got pushed to 100 when I got to Rolling Ridge.

First of all, the place is a dang maze, especially where the Gorons reside. The Crown Dungeon and it's quest line was fine, though the dungeon annoyed me in some spots. But after that? Good lord. The quest line leading to the first Mermaid Key was already kinda annoying. Just minigame after minigame after minigame. After getting the first Mermaid Key, I was relieved. I thought I was done. I thought I could just do the dungeon, and move on. But no. There are actually TWO Mermaid Keys. Which first of all doesn't even make sense, it's the same key-hole, and secondly... this is it. This might be the nail in the coffin. I usually refuse to look things up for games unless I absolutely HAVE to. So, a Goron told me that the dancing Goron held the key, so what'd I do? I played, and played and played, and it was AGONIZING. And what'd I get for my troubles? Freaking Gasha seeds. So I was like, "huh??" Every difficulty just gave me Gasha seeds. And you wanna know the worst part about that? I broke one of my own rules, I had to use rewind because I was genuinely getting heated, which almost never happens when playing games for me. So after slogging through that, I made the tough decision to look it up, and APPARENTLY I have to go on some quest to give some random Goron who's a friend of the dancer some random item, and THEN I can challenge the dancer to yet ANOTHER dance battle to then FINALLY get the key.

And then after all of that, I'd then have to go back and finish that dungeon with its ear-piercing music. Seriously, this game is so hit-or-miss with it's dungeon music. I just... I don't know if it's worth it to finish this game with how heated it's been getting me. I really, really don't like quitting, and I really wanted to give this game a good shot, but it's just making it SO hard. Sorry, I just needed to rant. Have a good day.

[OoA] [OoS] Do you guys think the Oracle games would work for me?

I just recently played Link's Awakening 2019, and I really really liked it! Even with it being designed like a Gameboy game, I still found it really really fun and satisfying to play and solve puzzles, explore, all that good stuff. After playing that, I've been thinking of mayyyybe checking out one of the Oracle games. They're one of the few Zelda games I've never played. Those, and the DS games.

But... then I remembered... they're on the Gameboy. Okay okay, call me a spoiled young lassy or whatever, but I remember my first time trying Link's Awakening through the Gameboy Colour version... and oh my gosh. A lot of the things I was able to push past or excuse due to the hardware; but other things were just like... WHAT?? First off, why is the power bracelet an equipable item? Why couldn't collecting the item just set off some flag in the code that made it so I could lift things up? The nail in the coffin for me what that; every single time I bumped into a pot or heavy rock without the power bracelet equipped, the game would stop me dead in my tracks, and say something along the lines of, "Wow! This is so heavy!" Or something like that. All with agonizingly slow text. Like... I KNOW! I GET IT! This happened SO much in the Bottle Grotto, it was insane. So yeah, I quit Link's Awakening for a LONG time after that, up until getting the Switch version.

So anyways, sorry for the rant. My question is: are these games well designed enough to push past all the hardware limitations? I know that's all based on opinion and personal experience, so just share yours.

Oh, and bonus question: I'm not sure how these two games are different. Are they more like Pokémon games where a lot of it is the same game? Or are they two separate adventures with their own mechanics dungeons, and items?

Thanks for reading!

[OoT] This Remake will be the Definitive Newcomer Game

While I've never had anyone asking me how they should get into the series, I've always thought about this. What is the best game for a newcomer? Two games come to mind: Breath of the Wild, and Ocarina of Time. Whilst these are both great picks for a newcomer's first game, they both have their issues.

Breath of the Wild (and TotK) are vastly different from the rest of the series. While yes, all new entries going forward will likely be based on the foundation of these games, it's not crazy to think a newcomer would want to go back and play older games too. So going from the Wild Era to the classic 3D Zelda games would most likely feel strange. Even then though, Breath of the Wild is a great starting choice.

Ocarina of Time, while it's the highest rated game of all time, and seems like a no-brainer for a starter game, it also has some issues. Assuming we're sticking strictly to official releases, there are many things about the original 1998 game that may turn younger gamers away. The graphics go without saying. While it may have looked great at the time, you have to admit it looks pretty bleak upscaled these days. Next, the frame rate. You may not have noticed if you played back in the day, but Ocarina of Time runs at 20fps. Nowadays, 30fps is the bare minimum for most gamers, and even then, some people don't like 30fps, and need 60fps for an enjoyable experience. Lastly, dated mechanics. Just like the graphics, certain gameplay elements and mechanics may also feel very dated to newcomers, especially younger gamers. You may be thinking, "Then just play the 3DS version!" Yes, the 3DS version fixes and improves the majority of these drawbacks, but the 3DS version isn't very accessible these days. Most casual gamers that have never played Zelda aren't gonna have a 3DS laying around.

So what's the solution? This remake. It's a modernized take on the classic, perfectly accessible on the newest Nintendo System. Beautiful graphics, higher frame rates, and presumably cleaned up mechanics that originally may have felt dated. I personally think that when this remake releases, it will be the definitive game for a newcomer.

Question about Steam Deck compatibility

I've never played Skyrim, and I've had it on my Steam wishlist for quite a while. Recently I've been thinking of finally buying it and playing it. Or at least maybe when there's a sale. Buuuuut I recently looked at it on the store again, and noticed it said that it's unsupported on Steam Deck. Which is pretty weird seeing as when I checked a while back, it was verified.

This is a fairly old game now, so I'm sure graphics aren't a concern. I remember watching a video about performance and it ran totally fine on High Settings. Did they release some compatibility-breaking update recently or something? I'm out of the loop.

If anyone here regularly plays on Steam Deck, I'm sure the answer will be simple. I know some games say they're unsupported, but work just fine. Thanks!

Hi! A bit of help for a total newbie?

I have an interest in Archery. I don't have any friends or family into it; it's just me. I've never shot a bow in my life. In fact, I've never even seen a real bow now that I think about it. In the quest for self-improvement, I've been trying to think up a hobby for myself that's more outdoorsy than gaming, and archery seems really really interesting to me. To be fair, my only real exposure to archery comes from Blumineck on Youtube; and that guy makes EVERYTHING look cool and interesting.

I'm not sure if this kind of question is allowed on here, so it's fine if this post gets removed. I was wondering if any of you archers knew of a realllllly cheap practice bow for me to test the waters? Just a reallllly cheap bow with a semi-low draw weight and some target arrows. Did I mention cheap? Look- I'm pretty poor, so I don't wanna blow the little bit of money I have on something I might not even like. If someone could recommend me some cheap bow on Amazon or something, that'd be wonderful.

Oh, and by total newbie, I really do mean it. So try to refrain from using a buncha acronyms and lingo in the comments lol. Thank you, and have a wonderful day.
