Parts cross compatibility

I've been told that the

G4FJ / 1.6L Gamma T-GDI

Is the same engine used in the:

Hyundai Veloster Turbo

Hyundai i30 SR

Hyundai i30 N-Line

Hyundai Elantra Sport

Kia Pro_Ceed GT

Kia Ceed GT

Hyundai Kona 1.6T

Hyundai Tucson 1.6T

Hyundai Sonata

And i need to continue working on this but the Takeda Stage 2 Pro 5R (P5R) is cross compatible with multiple vehicle models.

What this means for us is that if there's a certain amount of engine and engine-bay parts compatibility here we can take mods designed to be bolt in for other cars and put them in our GTs.

Any thoughts? Anyone found other interesting cross compatibility info?

Aftermarket support is good but you pay for it

Ive been looking at a shitload of mods. Seriously. A shitload.

Engine stuff like an intake, catch can, blow off, catback, exhaust tips, tunes.

Body stuff like body kits, wheels, tyres, suspension, decals, wraps, overlays, tints.

Interior stuff like floormats, carseats, cables, adapters, organisers, brackets, trim bits, seatbelts, sunvisors.

I can say without question if you want something for the Kia Cerato / Forte / K3. You can find it. For your model. Bolt on. It just works. Plenty of people have it. No shame. Get it done. Looks great.

But you will pay for it.

An exhaust tip from the car shop is $120 AUD (CAD is roughly 1:1 with AUD). On Aliexpress the same item is $20.

A bodykit for the car is made by flow in Australia. Be prepared to spend a few grand. On Aliexpress, pieces are as low as $40. Flow want $300. Not the same item sure but sometimes close enough is good enough. Particularly if you can sand, drill some holes, throw some bolts at it or some glue. It's not hard or expensive.

The intake from Takeda everyone loves? $800 average where i live. I found it as cheap as $600. I can get the whoosh noise using a good K&N filter and paint my own aluminium airbox for under $100. Fuck, they want 150 fucking dollars for a 3D printed rectangular tube. FFS this should be on thingiverse for free.

Same goes for brakes. Can get yourself a pro big brake kit. Or search the subreddit for the national brake upgrade. Or swap on the i30N brakes for the visual appeal.

If you have money by all means just go get it done and bolt it in. No shade we're all mates.

But if you're a poor cunt like me. I just want to mention to anyone sweating about the costs that a lot of this car modding stuff is a lot cheaper if you close the usual suspects car mod websites and open up some of the wholesaling sites or a hardware store and youtube...

My personal favourite has been Aliexpress.

Buy an empty shell

I see alot of custom services in the megathread but i already have my own hardware and don't need someone to make me artwork, i'm looking to buy the box only.

I have seen some clear acrylic boxes on Aliexpress but does anyone have additional box/case suppliers and what are the search terms i'm looking for?

Nevermind it's a fightstick enclosure or fightstick chassis.

I'll just google some.

Audio cues for blocking or parrying

So i'm trying to get into fighting games and one thing that every fighting game video never seems to mention is the way blocking and cues are designed. It's super obvious and yes sneer at me all you want for not seeing it immediately. But it would help as an absolute beginner to know that in these skill based games everything is designed to be telegraphed to some degree when you're in nuetral.

In the context of DBFZ but also some generic vids they will say stuff like "An overhead has more startup frames and you need to stand up to block it".

Like yeah. Ok.

But maybe mention that everything has a visual and audio warning before it happens?

Vanishing has a big visual effect and a loud shriek when it happens.

Supers that bypass a front block often have the character yell something specific as they do it.

Overheads don't have a sound but because they float the character before the hit comes they're generously telegraphed.

Like, i'm playing in the dojo with Picollo now and just trying to blick him randomly using jabs, sweeps, overheads, vanishes and supers. At least i can lab reactions now and have a chance at defense because god knows I get my ass comboed to death as soon they hit confirm.

The irony of it is i picked up reacting to audio over animations from the E33 subreddit.
