Have any of you had to deal with this issue? It seems like it shrunk overtime. 2018 SR5.

Took the BC to the Sierra Nevadas

It was crawler paradise everywhere I went! So much fun.

You guys ever think, “I bet I’m the only person who has ever RC’d this specific spot”?

Follow-up to Lighter Vs Heavier 4Runner

Sorry about the double post - I didn’t have the time to post a link.

Anyhow, here’s the video of my cousin attempting the snow patch.

This is after he attempted once (with multiple tries), couldn’t make it, backed up, and let me through. At this point, he had aired down to 14 psi. I have a video of him trying the first time, but it starts at the time when he was already semi-stuck. I didn’t think it was a good one to post.

After this attempt, he hooked up his winch to my 4runner and he came right out.

By the way, this isn’t a post about the 4Runner’s inability to traverse snow. In my earlier post, I compared the weight difference between his 4runner and mine and how I think weight was the factor that affected his truck.

Heavier vs Lighter 4runner

My cousin (4Runner in the back) has an SR5 with 285s and a 2” front lift. I have have an SR5 with 275s and less than a 1” front lift. He also has a ton of weight on his 4Runner (skid plates, bumper, winch, rooftop tent).

He attempted this small (but deep) snow patch and could not make it through. All he did was dig. My 4Runner just floated over the snow.

All that to say, weight (amongst other factors) makes a huge difference when snow wheeling.

Help with diagnostic trouble codes

My girlfriend drives a 2018 Toyota Camry SE (Non-hybrid). Based off your experience, what could be a potential fix?

I didn’t realize how popular this is until I bought one.

I bought an scx24 last month and have met multiple people who also own one. Some people I’ve known for years, but I didn’t know about their dirty little secret. I was at the park today during my lunch and a plumber contracted by the city to replace a drinking fountain came up to me and was telling me all about his C10, Jeep, and desk rig. Super cool.

Anybody know Monache Meadows’ Conditions

Was planning on doing some car camping in my 4runner off the Monache Meadows Jeep Trail this weekend (5/16/26). If it’s not a good idea, what other areas would you recommend? Ideally, I would like to do some easy-medium off-roading as well. Thanks!

Earlier today while checking out my Base Camp, I noticed a notchy/binding drivetrain. I first saw it when it was on all 4 wheels, reversing while turning—I heard a clicking noise and assumed something was rubbing. I picked it up and could see the driveshafts hesitating. I loosened the wheel nuts and that seemed to fix it.

Later that morning, I had an issue where it wouldn’t go into reverse on the first trigger pull—I had to hit it a second time. No obvious mechanical issue this time. I swapped transmitter batteries (no change), then reset the ESC (power cycle), and that seemed to fix it temporarily.

A couple hours later, after charging the battery for about 30 minutes, I went for a short crawl. During the run, I completely lost forward and reverse but still had steering. The ESC light was flashing red.

I fully charged the battery (green light on charger), but the issue is still there.

I’ve looked through posts and YT videos but haven’t found a clear answer—seems like people point to everything from motor to battery to ESC to transmitter.

I’ve already reached out to Horizon Hobby support & hope to hear back tomorrow.

Has anyone run into this? What ended up being the issue, and how would you go about troubleshooting it?

I ditched the stock Velcro system because after running the truck in the sun for a while, the Velcro adhesive began pealing off the body. I switched to Injora’s magnet system, but the same thing started to happen lol. I also don’t like how easily the body comes off with the magnets. Something I didn’t think about before swapping.

What other options do I have? I don’t mind putting holes in the body btw.

The 4runner isn’t mine :(
