TIL a Deaf mage in D&D lore invented a spell, and the name is PERFECT!

As the title says, I just discovered something awesome about D&D lore after playing BG3 a lot!

There was a Deaf mage named Cragh who was born Deaf and unable to speak. Despite D&D magic often involving verbal components, he somehow learned to cast the majority of his spells without them. (Only powerful spells still required him to speak.)

And the spell he developed?

>DEAFNESS!<

>!Then I realized that he literally invented a spell to fuck over hearing enemies! LOL!<

Discord No-GenAI rule & FAQ template for your communities

Earlier today, one of my communities officially adopted a GenAI rule & FAQ that I originally drafted.

Since other communities might find it useful too, I turned it into a reusable template & upload it to GitHub.

Here it is:

Feel free to use it, adapt it for your own community, or suggest anything that could be added or improved. 💛

Calling Deaf Artists: Wanna be part of an Anti-AI awareness video?

Hey! Profoundly deaf artist here. This is my first post on this subreddit.

Lately, I've been talking with a few Deaf Discord communities about the growing concerns around AI-generated art and “AI slop,” and now I'd like to share this project publicly too. I'm currently putting together a community video where Deaf artists can share their thoughts, concerns, experiences, or perspectives about generative AI and its impact on artists and creativity.

Earlier today, I was told that my deaf FFXIV Discord will soon enforce an anti-AI slop rule. One of our mods plans to make a video explaining the reasons behind it, and I told them I'd also be happy to make a video from an artist's perspective to help people better understand why so many artists are concerned about generative AI. We're currently working on the scripts.

Then I came up with another idea: what if deaf artists sent me a short video clip sharing their thoughts, experiences, concerns, or feelings about AI-generated content? I could combine the clips together into one larger community video focused on awareness and education.

It doesn't have to be super formal either. You could talk about how AI affects artists, creativity, jobs, motivation, commissions, or anything else you personally care about.

What do y'all think? Would anyone here be interested in participating? And since my social media accounts are still pretty new, I’d also really appreciate it if you know any Deaf artists who might want to join or help spread the word.

She walked up to me looking tired & serious and said,
"You can actually say I'm full of shit!"

I froze for a second wondering wtf did I do... then remembered she hasn't pooped in days.

Didn't expect that kind of (dad?) joke from her. Caught me off guard! lol
