How easy is to cap this pipe?

Hi all,

How easy is it to cap this pipe from the source side where the red arrow is?

The bottom part is a defunct irrigation system (not needed), and the left side needs to be removed entirely (garden tap).

I'm not sure what size the end point is, or what cover It would need to be capped. Would love some advice please.

OR, is this something that must be done by a plumber? If so let me know and I'll take that route instead.

Thanks.

What bugs are these?

Hi all,

Does anyone know what these little bugs are? The closest I can figure out is some form leaf nymph.

There are hundred of them around our deck and they've been there for ~3 weeks now. I just want to know if they're a pest, need to be sprayed (Pyrethrum?)? Or are they beneficial and I should let them be?

Thanks.

Origin raising daily fixed charge..

Sorry as this may be more of a rant.. So the Origin tossers realised they can't make enough money out of us with our Solar & Battery, so they now increased the daily fixed charge to ~$1.92.. That's ~34.5% increase.. Ridiculous. Not keen on paying the lazy tax..

Who are you with (in Brisbane) that you're happy with, have good feed in credits, with no headaches hassle-free days?

I know of Amber but it seems like I have to focus a lot on when to buy or sell, avoid exorbitantly high prices during high demand, etc..

Is anyone else with Origin and not receiving their bills?

I haven't received a bill since last November.. We installed Solar a bit before then if that makes a difference..

I emailed and called multiple times.. They initially didn't say anything other than "there's an issue, and we're working on it", but after I pushed a lot I managed to get an update that the bills can't be issued because they are:

"unable to correctly calculate the Best Offer message that must appear on the bill. This message is a required component, and we cannot send the bill without it or risk sending incorrect information."

They did confirm that they will honour back billing protections for any bills older than 9 months, and also solar credits accrued to be applied to the account.

But it's frustrating as it's been ~6 months now.. I'm curious if anyone else is on the same boat?

Edit: Thanks all. Getting some more quotes. And handyman said it’s an easy fix so will make the switch once he’s onsite.

We (Brissy) have 9 stumps that have some rust on them. Needs grinding and some maintenance. I'd say ~4 of them you'd need a bit of a crawl as the space is say ~0.8-1m high. The rest easy access to.

Unfortunately because of my back injury I can't bend or DIY it.. I got a quote from a licensed builder for $2900. It includes removing the soil and debris, wire brushing the rusted areas, preparing and coat affected area with bitumen based sealer.

That comes to ~320 per stump. Is this an ok quote? My googling says it's a bit on the higher side but still reasonable - cheaper than replacing, and taking into account the crawling, finding someone to do it and not disappear on me, etc.. Honestly I care more about quality than cost (unless it's a sod off price) especially when it's holding up the house, and would last a decade before I worry about it again..

Appreciate your comments. Ta.
