Visiting Rabat as a female

I am traveling to Rabat next month with my father for a week and I’m slightly anxious as I’ve been warned by rep it’s very different for women in Morocco than in Europe where I’m from (ie. dealing with harassment from men and the likes). I was just wondering what advice people would have for a teenage girl who isn’t experienced with traveling such as what sort of clothing to wear or places to go (like do girls wear bikinis at the beach?) Also any tourism tips or places to visit would be greatly appreciated!

How do I actually get a driving test?

I know the waiting lists are notoriously long in Ireland but how common is it to be waiting so long that you need to resit the theory test.
Basically I applied for my test in February as soon as I could and I paid the €85 and everything. I’ve still yet to receive an email to be invited to the waiting list to apply. I’ve heard that the actual waiting list can be months or even years long and I’m genuinely lost on what to do. It’s been just over a year since I sat my theory test and I’m really desperate to not have to redo it since I worked hard to pass it first time last time and spent money on it. But it looks like if I don’t get a test soon and pass the first round that may be what’ll end up happening.

Is Third level education more or less difficult with ADHD?

Adults with ADHD did you find university/college easier or more of a struggle than secondary school? I was diagnosed in my final year of secondary school and while medication has made a difference I struggled my whole life in education. Barely passing exams and completing assignments plus struggling to stay focused in classes. I’m supposed to go to university in September (if I’m accepted) but I’m actually not sure if I’m capable of such a higher standard of working with this disability since I could barely handle second level and that I’ll just end up exhausted every day.

Anyone one else still unsure on what they want to do

I’m really stressed about exams but like I could genuinely get my 10th cao choice and I wouldn’t mind, even though there’s such an emphasis on getting your first. That seems insane to everyone else I said it to who seems to be set on one particular course but like I just can’t bring myself to care I feel like there’s something wrong with me

Do other people kinda resent their siblings for not inheriting the same disabilities as them

Like I don’t hold serious resentment or anything or feel this way often but my whole life’s just been so unbelievably miserable mainly due to ADHD and autism and then mental issues as a result and I just often think to myself why was it me that got unlucky genetically and they didn’t. Don’t get me wrong they haven’t had an easy time, mainly just from witnessing me fall to pieces frequently for as long as anyone can remember, and I feel guilty they had to witness it. But it’s difficult not to feel slight resentment for them just getting lucky and having a significantly easier life experience for something absolutely no one could control and was completely random. I just wanna know if anyone else has ever sometimes felt this way.

Why do people torture themselves by looking up exam solutions directly after an exam?

Ik the recent maths paper 1 was horrific but almost everyone I know was watching different grinds teachers and stuff go through the solutions on places like TikTok and Instagram literally within a few hours of the exam ending. That makes no sense to me it’s not like you can change it now, and they’ve only become more upset and had their confidence knocked for other exams. Also I think the grown adults making those videos should know better. Stop wasting your time and either take time to rest or study for your next exam

Can I report being interrupted during my leaving cert to the SEC (or anyone)

So basically I’m one of those weird kids that gets a special room for the leaving cert. There’s always so many problems with my separate room but I didn’t expect them during my LEAVING CERT. One of my accommodations is 20 minutes of rest breaks and so during English paper 2 I had taken 18 minutes already when my exam superintendent walked into the room and informed me that I in fact wasn’t entitled to rest breaks as it didn’t say that on my official letter (I’ve literally never seen this letter before in my life). She told me quite bluntly that I was just going to have to finish the exam at the normal time despite already losing 18 minutes. English is literally the worst exam to have your timing messed up and I feel like I wasted the rest of the paper trying to hold back tears. I was eventually told at the end that I could have my 18 minutes and they were making an “exception just this once” but by then the damage had already been done and I’d rushed all my answers to be finished. I feel like I did so much worse than I would have. I felt a bit like they were accusing me of cheating with my breaks but I don’t think I ever even asked to have that option it was just offered to me. Honestly rest breaks aren’t a big deal to me so if I’d been told beforehand i couldn’t have them I would’ve been fine, but there’s never been any issues over the past 4 years with me taking rest breaks and I really don’t see why they only raised the alarm mid exam.

To make matters more confusing a meeting was had by parents with the principal the next morning and I somehow got my rest breaks accommodation back so I don’t even know what the original issue was. Again to reinforce this I actually don’t really mind if I get breaks or not I was just really distressed at being told I’d lost them when I’d already wasted 18 minutes of my exam. I’m actually kinda devastated looking back. I’m not that intelligent but English was supposed to be my one good subject and now I feel like I’m screwed and all my hard work was wasted and no one ever apologized to me or anything. I haven’t really been able to sleep or study since because I’m so upset and I had a panic attack before Fridays exams too. I think this will have a knock on effect on all my exams as I just have so much anxiety thinking about going back on Monday. Is there anyone I can report this to at all? Has anyone experienced anything similar? I just feel like no matter what my results are in August I’ll always think they would’ve been higher

Coming to Reddit because I feel so lost and like no one believes me. None of my posts ever seem to be seen by users but I don’t know where else to go to get answers.

About 15 months ago when I had just turned 17 I started experiencing a really weird type of back pain. A sharp pain right under my tailbone that would switch from right to left. It would also often radiate down my legs, all the way to my feet. The times where I was most in pain were sitting in class, for whatever reason sitting at a 90° angle put me in excruciating pain and needed to excuse myself from the pain.

I tried to ignore and told no one it because it was such a strange pain and I couldn’t really explain it, I still don’t know if I really can, but after two weeks it just became unbearable and I begged my mom to take me to the doctor, which she agreed to do quite reluctantly.

I honestly still get quite upset thinking about my visit with that doctor. After I explained the answer he first questioned me on what I thought the issue was, as he seemed to think I already knew the answer. Maybe this is a reasonable question but I would have told him if I’d had any idea. He then asked me if my concerns were over something that had been “sent to me”, on “Snapchat or TikTok”. I don’t know why but this question REALLY upset me. It gave me the impression that he thought I was just some dumb teenage girl who had made her parents fork out money for an appointment over a pain that didn’t exist, and I highly doubt he would’ve asked that question to an older person or a boy. (Also none of my friends are “sending me” content about lower back pain for no reason?). I was prescribed ibuprofen, which did nothing at all to ease the pain, and missed 4 days of school.

He then preformed an examination and informed me that I had sprained my back. This confused me as I don’t remember a specific injury but tbh I still think he could’ve been right, but he told me that an injury like that should’ve cleared up in 4 weeks, and I was currently at the two week mark at that point. He told me that it can be quite common if someone who hasn’t exercised does so after a while, but this confused me as I had been a hockey player, and consistent gym user for 2 years at this point, and hadn’t done anything new. Well about 2 months go by, my pain has slightly eased but I am still uncomfortable most of the time, especially sitting in class. It flares up again from a trigger I can’t remember and subsequently my life is halted again. I then return to the same doctor with my mother, and try to explain to him that the pain has not improved. At this point it is impacting my daily life, I struggle with simple tasks such as putting socks on because I can’t reach that far, I also still couldn’t manage a full day of school most days. He tells me not exactly that it was all in my head, but that was indeed how I interpreted it. He gave me a “motivational speech” about how a lot of people have a “poor me” attitude to life and that I shouldn’t “allow” the pain to affect my life, basically saying I shouldn’t just ignore it and the pain will go away. This frustrated me because I had been just trying to ignore it, since the beginning really, and the pain had not gone away.

After that my back calmed down enough to not prevent me from living my daily life but it was still there causing minor problems. Then in the summer my family took a road trip to see a concert. This trip would’ve easily been taken by plane and would’ve been much cheaper and quicker, but it also kind of upset me that they would plan a vacation that way after I had explained to my parents about how upsetting it was for me to not be able to sit down for extended periods of time without ending up in excruciating pain for the next several weeks, but they simply replied that I was being over the top. Although I tried my best to avoid it, I unsurprisingly ended up having awful pain in my back from the first few hours of the trip. It’s difficult for me to think about how to awful it was, but long story short I ended up screaming and crying in front of my parents and siblings, while my parents yelled at me to shut up, I often feel guilty and sometimes think I could’ve prevented it, but I honestly don’t believe in the moment I was able to stop feeling the pain.

After that trip I recovered surprisingly quickly, but I went to my final year at summer camp, which I could not really enjoy. Camps will have you do a lot of weird activities like dances, sports, games, and I had to sit out on the side and watch for most of it, as every time I participated I felt the pain threatening to return on my lower back. I tried to explain how much it upset me that I couldn’t do simple things like that, but my parents responded that it didn’t matter anyway because I wasn’t going back to camp.

Things got really bad when I returned to school, every time I even tried to move in my chair I would wince or gasp in pain, which my classmates noticed and were concerned by. I also had people approaching me in halls to ask why I was walking funny and if I needed help, I felt guilty, as if I was faking it for attention like my parents said, but I just couldn’t stop the pain or manage to walk normally. I tried to communicate to my parents what I was going through but they didn’t wanna hear it since “we can’t do anything about it”. Things escalated and I eventually ended up having somewhat of a breakdown, it was then that they agreed to take me to A&E, not really left with a choice.
I had my first experience with a female doctor there and I had never felt so validated. She hears my symptom history and replied “this is concerning, young people should not have back pain, that is common knowledge in the medial field”. It felt good to be listened to but also sad now that the really knew it was real. I was prescribed a week of muscle relaxer tablets. They were incredible and I was pain free for the first time in months. However, although I can’t find any evidence of this being possible I do have a theory that something in this medication negatively affected my brain. After that week I experienced extreme outbursts and irritation, and eventually ended up needing to be briefly hospitalized due to my mental state. I had struggled in the past but it was NEVER severe, and that severity was brought on frighteningly quickly.

I tried my best to work through my mental state, the whole time being eternally grateful that my physical health had improved so much. However on Christmas Eve I felt that dreaded shooting pain while sitting in church. I ran out of the church quickly and broke down in my family’s car where I hoped no one would be able to see me.
This was not one of my worst episodes, but I think the reason I was so upset was the realization that I would never truly be free from the back pain. This is when I started doing my research, and believe or not, I DID find the answer on Instagram, if only that first doctor knew. I saw a video about sacroiliitis and although I was going to ignore it at first my symptoms matched COMPLETELY. However due to being gutted with this thought, I didn’t leave my bed for a few days, and I suppose avoiding being seated in a 90° angle was in-fact a good thing because my pain calmed down and I didn’t experience any more for four months! I went through various medical articles (reputable this time!) on the condition, and although I was fairly certain I had it I saw no reason to inform a doctor since I wasn’t having issues.

Id basically skipped every PE class of the year, as well as stopping playing for my hockey team and making my gym visits less frequent, due to the fear of my back flaring up again, but recently an event involving physical activity in my school came up that I couldn’t avoid, and really upsettingly I am experiencing problems once again.

They are not as bad as in September but they are not going away this time and are effecting my daily life. Due to exams coming up we are finished content in most of my classes and I spend most of my time at home revising. However my condition means that I cannot go in at all. I went to school for the last 90 minutes today because I had a test, and I walked awkwardly home and in a lot of pain from sitting for that amount of time. My exams in 4 weeks will be upwards of 3 hours and I am scared I won’t be able to do them. I do all on my revision lying flat on my bed, which my mother says is lazy but I am in pain every time I sit at my desk. I also have a holiday booked the month after but the thing I am most dreading is that the pain after sitting on a plane for 3 hours will ruin the trip for me.
I am seeing a doctor tomorrow in regards to this problem, but I have a fear that I will not be believed like I was last time, or just treated like a dumb teenager (especially since I actually DID find out about this condition online). I’ve read personal accounts of people who’ve suffered from sacroiliitis, and although they’re symptoms are the same as mine, I can’t find anyone who’s currently my age of experienced it at my age. Any time I mention my back pain (not a lot as I think people will just think I’m using it as an excuse for laziness), if an older person is near they’ll laugh at me and say everyone experiences back pain at their age. This just upsets me more as what it tells me is that those people did not have to spend their teenage years with pain like this, and I find it unfair that my days of “physical freedom” had to end before I could even legally vote. I just want to know if anyone has experienced anything like any of this

I’ve wanted to change my full name to the Irish version since I was teenager and I’m applying for both a drivers license and a new passport soon and I was wondering if it’s possible to get a name that’s not on your birth certificate there (probably not on a passport but maybe my drivers license?), online sources are unclear. Anyone who’s done this what challenges have you faced?
