LoTR portraits I've completed over the past several months
Number 4 Gandalf was done several month ago, Gandalf #1 was done yesterday. Interesting to see how my style changes from month to month.

I'm curious what you guys think of this style, whether it's too rough or oversaturated. I'm using Nelson Shanks as my guide, watching his demos on YouTube, etc. It needed a third layer but my room was too hot and they started to droop and wrinkle.
I'm the Luscemi guy, thought I'd return to one of my (and your) favorite subjects!
I'm curious if I need to spend more time refining this piece, or if it looks "finished" enough. I'm emulating one of my favorite painters, Nelson Shanks, so I'm using purposely saturated colors. Is this an issue, or would more unsaturated colors mixed into the composition benefit the piece? I painted this over the course of three days, about 1-1.5 hours per day. That's another thing, I feel I need to spend longer hours working, but I get fatigued after about 1 hour.
This is a new undertaking for me, still lives painted from life, and I'd like to improve as much as possible, so any critique at all is very welcome. I painted this over the course of three days, for about one hour each day. I tried to pinpoint the focus on the central lily, but in retrospect I wish I'd blurred out the other flowers a bit.
