Some beginner questions

Enjoying the game, having a lot of fun. It's definitely more accessible than Project Zomboid (which I could never get into, maybe I should give it another chance). I've got some questions though.

  1. What do you do for light at night when your flashlight battery is dead and you haven't found any more batteries?
  2. I started at inland spawn, and I cannot find a water source, and I haven't found a tarp yet either to make a water catcher. Do I have to make my base close to one of the lakes/ponds if I can't find a tarp?

Fastest way to get Pantheon points?

What is the fastest way to get all Pantheon unlocks? It seems that old methods no longer work. I'm super annoyed that I have to do this to more weapons, at first I thought the Pantheon was purely cosmetic (which would be fine IMO). It seems that I can't just mod my game to get them either.

First game thoughts

I just bought the game and beat my first game on the harmonious lands. Here are some general observations/questions (but even the observations I'm posting so people can respond/correct me):

  1. I'm not really clear on how to treat the underground. I basically ignored it in my game, but I know it could be very beneficial. But this game really stretches your armies thin with all the neutral camp clearing and war. So I'm not sure where the underground falls in priorities (if you're not an underground faction)?
  2. At first I had my heroes leading their own armies, but then I felt like wonders forced me to stack them on my ruler so that I could clear them. Then I just had my unit armies following my hero army around. There didn't seem any other way to get a single stack powerful enough to clear wonders though, so I felt pigeonholed into this strategy which was kind of annoying.
  3. I had started a couple of other games before this but abandoned them since my factions didn't feel good. This time I went with a dragon and that felt so much more powerful. A warrior doesn't feel nearly as powerful, is there a reason to not just always go dragon? (For power reasons, not role play obviously). I know champions get more items, but you can just start dragon and recruit champions as your heroes.
  4. It doesn't really seem possible to keep a city stability above neutral in the early game unless you sacrifice a lot to focus on it or get some random event that helps.
  5. Mid game economy is definitely a struggle. It seems like focusing on clearing neutral camps is more beneficial than warring with another faction.

I CANNOT finish the base raid

Just got the game, but I cannot figure out how to trigger the finish 2 base encounters. I follow the orange question marks, I kill the bosses or swarms that spawn, but I keep doing it (and even sometimes getting 3) and it still isn't working. Am I missing something? Do you have to also kill every building in the area or something?

Any advice?
