Anyone Running Acerbis X-Factory Handguards on a KLX230r?

Looking at getting the Acerbis X-Factory handguards for my KLX230R and wanted to see what everyone’s experience has been with them.

Do you recommend them or not recommend them? Mainly looking for good protection without a bunch of fitment headaches.

Also curious:
How was the install on the KLX230?
Any clearance issues with cables, brake lines, throttle, etc.?
Any issues after riding with them?
Anything you wish you knew before installing?

Still somewhat new to working on the bike myself so any tips/pictures/advice would help a lot. Thanks.

New to riding - Gear, Maintenance, and Beginner Advice?

Just picked up a used 2023 KLX230R with around 30–50 hours on it. I rode years ago as young kid but I’m basically getting back into riding and trying to learn everything I need to ride and what I should know about these bikes.

Also trying to figure out what riding gear I really need starting out. Right now looking into:

- helmet
- boots
- goggles
- gloves
- knee pads/braces
- riding pants/jersey

What gear is actually worth spending money on first, and what brands/models would you recommend for trail riding? Any advice for someone getting back into riding after a long break would be appreciated too.

Also more bike specific, so far I’ve already cleaned and re-oiled the air filter, and next thing planned is an oil change. Looking for advice from experienced KLX230 owners on:

- common maintenance items
- stuff to watch out for on the 2023 KLX230R specifically
- beginner mistakes to avoid
- mods actually worth doing
- things I should check after buying used

KLX 230 high idle - manual throttle adjustment?

Just picked up a 2023 KLX230R and I’m trying to figure out if what I’m experiencing is normal EFI behavior or something I should address. The bike tends to idle really high sometimes, and when going downhill or off throttle it almost feels like the RPM hangs or even picks up speed instead of giving consistent engine braking. It can get a little sketchy coming into turns or technical sections because it feels like the bike wants to keep pulling.

I’ve checked a few basics already and I’m still learning these newer EFI bikes. I’ve been seeing a lot of people recommend the HiVolt/manual idle adjustment screw conversion for the KLX230 and was wondering if anyone here has experience with it. Did it actually help the hanging/high idle issue? Any downsides or bad experiences? Anything I should know before installing one?

Also open to any other recommendations or things I should check first before ordering one. Appreciate any advice from other KLX230 owners.

No title purchase advice

Looking for some advice on buying a dirt bike with no title. I live in Virginia and the bike is in North Carolina.

It’s a 2023 Kawasaki KLX230R (off-road/trail bike, not street legal). Seller says the original owner lost the title, but after running the VIN through a vehicle history site, it almost looks like a title may have never been issued at all and he sent pictures of vin and scan. No theft records, no accidents, no salvage/title brands came back.

Current seller says he bought it from an older fella that bought it for his kid. He seems pretty upfront and not sketchy, but I’ve always heard “no title = walk away,” so I’m trying to decide if this is actually a big deal on an off-road bike or not.

Price is $3500. Bike looks clean and seems mechanically solid from videos/pictures. Looking to knock some off since no title.

Main questions:

- Is it common for off-road bikes in NC to never have titles issued?
- How hard would this be to deal with later in VA?
- Would a detailed bill of sale be enough?
- Is this something you’d buy or just pass on and wait for a titled bike?

Just trying to avoid buying myself into a nightmare later on. Any advice appreciated.

Jumped title advice

Looking for advice on a used car/private sale title situation before making a long trip.
A friend is looking at a 2015 Subaru Forester in NC with only ~29k miles. Seller has been cooperative, sent photos of the title, CarFax, VIN, etc. CarFax shows 1 owner, no accidents, no rollback indication, and no current lien on title.
Here’s the part making us cautious:
The seller never titled the vehicle in his own name. He says he bought it from the original owner and has the original NC title signed by that owner, with the buyer section still blank and no other buyer info filled out. Basically a “jumped title” situation.
Seller says:
no liens

willing to meet at NC DMV

willing to allow inspection

title has no cross-outs/alterations

bill of sale included

My questions:
Would Virginia DMV likely accept this if buyer is from VA?

If the bill of sale is from the current seller, but title is signed by previous owner, is that usually an issue?

Would meeting at NC DMV help verify everything is legitimate?

Any major red flags I’m missing here?

What exact things should we verify before paying?

Not trying to accuse the guy of anything, honestly the vehicle/interior/title/photos all look great just trying to avoid getting burned by a title issue later.

Would you buy this kit or piece things together?

Is this actually a good Milwaukee deal or should I wait for something better?

Still pretty new trying to learn the whole promo/deal cycle used to just buy as needed. This bundle is $599 and seems solid, but I already have an M18 Fuel impact and drill (although the drill has definitely seen better days).

Mainly interested in building out my setup the smart way and not buying something now if better BMSM/free tool deals are usually right around the corner.
Would you guys jump on this or wait for other promos? Also curious if these big combo kits are usually worth it or if piecing stuff together during promos is the better route.

Looking to start getting into the Milwaukee Packout system and maybe pick up some tools too. First time really buying into Milwaukee stuff, so I’m trying to learn the best ways to catch deals, BMSM promos, combo deals, free tool deals, etc.

I’ve got buddies that have gotten free tools with Packout purchases or stacked deals somehow, but I have no clue where people usually find this stuff or when the best sales happen.

Any advice for someone just getting started? Best stores/websites to watch, times of year, deal trackers, hacks, or other advice?
