Trans in Tenneesse

Hi, I'm a trans teenager in Tennessee. I'm attending a new high school (which is run by a college so I'm hoping it'll be better) in a fairly liberal big city, and I want to come out as trans. I'm pre-everything, but I pass 99% of the time. I actually think trying to say my deadname would turn more heads then if I said my real one. I do know this the worst possible time, and in one of the worst states, but man, I just want to be a man. What are the laws around transgender students, and would it really be better to just stay in the closet? I'm aware that if I requested to use my chosen name they would report it to my parents (who already know I'm trans), and I heard something about needing written parent permission. I really just need some information and advice. Thanks :]
