ગુજરાત વગર આમનું અર્થતંત્ર શું એક subreddit પણ નથી ચાલી શકતું 😂😂

Today i went and saw their top 10 posts of the past week.

1 was regarding cleanliness 1 was about opposing hindi And 8 were hate posts on Gujarat 😂😂

And these were TOP posts btw. They made hating on a particular community their whole identity. At this point, Gujarat is contributing more to this sub's engagement than Maharashtra lol😂

She prepared for IIT JAM since last two years and this year she scored well with AIR~1300. She expected a descent NIT with this score.
The problem is that the eligibility criteria seems changed this year for counselling from 55% to 60%. She scored 58.91% in bachelor's degree but the eligibility criteria is now 60% for her category.

Can she do anything to secure nit or otherwise what are the best possible options she has right now???

Today Gujarat celebrates 66 years of its foundation.
ગુજરાત સ્થાપના દિવસની હાર્દિક શુભકામનાઓ. 🎉:

In 1956 States Reorganization Act, Bombay state was restructured, merging Marathi and Gujarati-speaking regions into one large bilingual state.

On paper it looked good but it was an administrative problem with high political and linguistic tensions, Gujarati speakers began to feel administrative neglect, cultural dilution, political underrepresentation. The demand was clear that we wanted our own state ''MahaGujarat''.

This is where the MahaGujarat Movement intensified. At the center was Indulal Yagnik, who played important role in organizing, uniting and scaling the movement.

It was a sustained and coordinated movement to save the identity of Gujarat, where students walked out of the classrooms, factories were shut and streets were filled with constant protests. Slogans echoed everywhere ''Le ke rahenge MahaGujarat''. Police firing during protests (especially 1956 Ahmedabad) led to deaths of protestors.

From 1956-59 protests kept intensifying across whole Gujarat, strikes, rallies and political mobilization. The central government tried to resist it for few years because it meant political division for them. But parallel Samyukta Maharashtra Movement made the demands for new borders even stronger.

In 1960, The demands of protestors were finally met. On May 1 1960, Gujarat finally received its own statehood separate from Bombay with a population of nearly 2 crores. From 1960-70, Amdavad was chosen as capital of Gujarat. The martyrs were commemorated at Shahid Smarak, Amdavad. Gandhinagar was later planned from scratch as a new capital.

Mahagujarat Aandolan is considered one of the most successful movements in Gujarat’s history because it achieved its core objective of Gujarati statehood on May 1, 1960.
Under strong leadership of Indulal Yagnik, Mass coordinated protests and sustained efforts led the central government to divide Bombay state and create Gujarat despite initial resistance.

Imagine you're an OBC/EBC/GEN person, in a uncomfortable minor argument someone files a false SC/ST atrocity case on you...

You're immediately arrested with almost impossible to get anticipatory bail, the law doesn't allow easily for SC/ST cases. Your family is terrified as police handcuff you for what was literally just a disagreement yesterday.

Your employer terminates you, because no company wants the "atrocity" stigma. Your reputation in the community is basically shattered before any trial begins.

At the same time, your accuser receives government compensation (minimum 75k btw) taxpayer money handed over based solely on their unproven claim. Shocking isnt it?

The case drags on for YEARS. If you're lucky your case ends in acquittal after 7-8 years. There's no compensation for your ruined career, mental trauma and lost savings. We aren't even counting defamation yet.

Now the MAIN THING,

  • According to NCRB data, conviction rate is 32-34%. Which means only 1 out of 3 cases end in conviction. The Act creates a system where rest of accused are punished despite being innocent, while 100% of accusers are rewarded regardless of truth.

  • During the trial period, which is typically years long, getting government job becomes almost impossible because the case is flagged during police verification. Also it becomes difficult to travel abroad due to passport issues and high chances of foreign embassies rejecting your visas due to pending criminal case.

  • The accuser gets to keep all the money ( 75k-8L depending upon case) even if the the person's found non guilty. Again that comes from the taxpayer's pockets.

  • You're treated as guilty until proven innocent, while your accuser is treated as a victim regardless of the truth. Thats reverse casteism.

  • There's no compensation for all this defamation, trauma, lost savings, lost years, and career damage even after you're proven not guilty. Is this right?

  • The Act has created a perverse incentive structure where false accusations are profitable, with no consequences for lying.

I understand that the act is necessary for discrimination sc/st people face but WHY ARE THERE LITTLE TO NO GUARDRAILS AGAINST THE MISUSE OF SUCH POWERFUL ACT???
