I finally got a 'dry herb vaporizer', I don't think listing which one matters.

it has a ceramic chamber,

has replaceable screens (not exactly 'mesh' like the 100 micron stuff, but can't fit a paperclip in the holes),

has a normal dosing capsule,

and a capsule with organic cotton wool in it for "essential oils" (the guy at the store was unclear about whether this is suitable for dab concentrates/etc due to the local laws).

it has heat settings well under 200F and up to 430 or so. searching suggests 340-360F is about right?

does this sound suitable for DMT with the 'emesh' method or similar? would putting it in the cotton wool be stupid? if I keep it tilted on its side will it be fine instead of dripping through the holes? or will it vaporize fast enough regardless? or do I need the really fine mesh?

I was re-listening to that McKenna talk where he talks about the lesser lights, and suggests that his personal experience always involves that chrysanthemum mandala kind of portal thing commonly reported.

I never experience that, or fractals, tunnels, eyes, jesters, etc., but I do have my own set of 'oh yes, this is how it began the last few times' or 'oh yes, this is that aesthetic and behavior of what it usually turns into' or 'oh yes this is how it usually comes to an end'.

but I have noticed on things like 2C-B and lately even ketamine (which for the first few years wasn't a visual experience for me at all) I get the focal point that begins to spiral from a point out into a tunnel that comes towards me (or can actually go past me, and I can kind of steer myself into its path if I want to), it just never progresses into anything more vivid or complex or stable. but it makes me wonder if that kind of thing is what some users report as their come-up, and it's something I rapidly skip through instead.

certainly mushrooms build up their effects much slower than 'the DMT flash' as McKenna refers to it, which can be lightning fast or even literally instantaneous. so I'm wonder if any of you guys with a lot of experience have had enough experience with low dosing or with psilocybin to have a very reliable predictable narrative of what the progression is. so I'm asking generally, not just about DMT use, but anything you've done that produces these CEV worlds.

I know some people talk about feeling as though they're close to a breakthrough. for me it's always I blink and realise it has already happened, completely caught off guard, but before that there is usually at least one stage where things develop into a structured holographic realm that can be navigated, the style or nature of it is always the same, but the actual contents isn't. I just never really get to spend enough time there to see how the one gets to the next or if there's any reliable relation, or it's just like going up in an elevator and skipping past whatever can happen there and moving on to the next, bypassing it.
