Humidity killed my RX100vii
Well, maybe not killed. But permanently maimed. I took it with me to Iguazu Falls. Yes, yes, I know…. But it wasn’t the falls that got her. It was the smothering humidity. I don’t think I’ve encountered humidity quite that intense anywhere. It had the door locks on my truck going haywire, and was causing malfunctions with the EVF on another camera. The only thing that seemingly didn’t suffer was my phone, which I used to make a lot of videos.
Specifically the dial on the back of the RX100 stopped responding to rotational input - you know, how most of us change the shutter speed or aperture.
I am sad - the camera is “out of service” for the foreseeable. I never expected to like or depend on it so much - I bought it as a stop-gap camera when my camera bag got stolen. Didn’t really expect to use it much once I replaced my kit, but - it found a permanent place in my jacket pocket.
Anyway that’s my sad little eulogy for my RX100vii, thanks for reading.
