Feeling Behind Despite Being on a Standard Track

I’m a sophomore transferring to a new school. The school I went to last year wasn’t the right fit for me and didn’t take my course desires seriously, instead putting me in a class I’d never heard of (Honors Methods of Science) instead of what my track was leading to (Biology). So now I’m taking Bio in sophomore year. I know this is a standard class to be taking for my grade, and I’m not actually behind, but academics have always been what I’m best at, so to not be where I thought I would be really eats at me. Nearly all my friends are taking Chemistry because they took Bio last year. And really, I’m in my comfort zone when I’m ahead, and I had quite a bit of my ego tied to expectations I put on myself at school. So, what I’m asking for advice over is, if anyone else has had a similar experience, how did you cope? I need to let these expectations I had go…

Future fanfics?

Hi! I’m writing a fanfic, and I’m trying to put as much effort in it as possible to make up for the ending that (I feel) had barely any, writing-wise. But I worry that if I finish writing this a long time later, even by a couple years, that there won’t be many people interested in new fics. The fandom is pretty torn, so I worry for its fate.

I guess this is just a self-consolation question, but realistically, how likely do you think it is that the fandom will still be reading fanfics in the future?

What music does Aziraphale listen to?

Hi! Trying to write my own version of Good Omens 3 and was wondering what music does Aziraphale listen to? I know it’s mostly classical, but I can’t tell when it’s from. Do you think he listens to anything non-classical? I could see him being a huge fan of Nina Simone, since she was a genius pianist and had BEAUTIFUL vocals (and a lot of her love song lyrics fit Aziracrow nicely)

What do I need to know to be a director?

Hi! I’m a student in high school thinking about career options. I’ve wanted to be an author since I was 12, but lately I’ve been thinking about directing given my love for movies and television. I don’t really have any filming or editing experience, and those things sound daunting. I would be more willing to experiment with filming and editing if I knew of good resources/apps I could use on my phone, but all of the film apps seem to have a LOT of ai features and CapCut announced that they train your videos on ai. As someone who is very anti-ai, I would rather swallow knives than engage with an app that does that. If I ever really learned about filming and editing techniques, I’m sure I would be more passionate about that element, but right now, the main appeal of directing for me would be if I can be both the script writer and the director (in the sense that I guide cast and crew and tell them what to do). I want to be able to have a completely original story, then work with others to bring it to life. People who know me tell me I can be quite bossy, lol, so that’s kind of the element I admire about directing. Of course, I would still be very polite, but I like the idea of being in charge of a creative project. So I guess my main questions are…
-what skills do I need as a director?
-what are some good resources that aren’t like CapCut that I could use?
-would I really be able to “be in charge” in the sense I’m describing?
-do directors normally get to screenwrite and direct?

Brand-new to Discworld but bought a few books today…

A little about how I came here: I’m a HUGEEEEE fan of Good Omens who is heartbroken over the finale. I’m hoping to explore Discworld because it sounds incredibly interesting and the books are satirical fantasies like Good Omens. In my local bookstores, I couldn’t find many of the ones I was most interested in, and most of the ones I found weren’t the first of their series (I know you can read them in any order, but I’d like to be able to go through a series at a time in the order of how the story progresses). But the ones I did get were *Guards! Guards!*, *Moving Pictures*, *The Truth*, and *Monstrous Regiment*. Which would be the best starting place of those four?

Any P!nk fans?

I’ve been a huge fan of P!nk my whole life, and I really feel like a lot of her lyrics fit Good Omens. I’ve put some here for discussion; I can see a lot of these being fitting for Aziraphale or Crowley. I would love to know of any other P!nk and Good Omens fans (because I think fans of either things are really cool, but to meet anyone who’s a fan of both would be AMAZING), and introduce the stunning force that is P!nk to anyone who’s hasn’t listened to her yet!

Just finished Deadwater Fell… (SPOILERS)

Of course, David was amazing. But I personally feel like the show was poorly written. It seemed like they were originally going in the direction of Tom being abusive and manipulative but Kate was the one to actually kill, but then changed it to it all being Tom. So many things felt unexplained, like why did Dylan lie about who was out there? Why would they keep talking about Kate’s postpartum depression if it didn’t actually have as strong of an effect on her as we were led to believe, since she didn’t kill her family? We also never saw how Tom started the fire, nor when he injected his other kids. And if he injected himself AND inhaled the smoke of the fire, it doesn’t make sense that he survived. And why would he go over to Jess’s house just to lie to her? At least with the broke arm story, we could’ve had a good backstory to his violent disposition, but that was then put down by Carol, and we never really got to learn about his childhood. Also, why did Carol give Kate’s mom money?

Crowley Losing Miracles—Good Idea or No?

I have a strong hatred for the finale, so I am writing my own fanfic ending that will have my original plot, but I plan to include some things from the finale and add a twist on them that I feel will be better-fitting. I can’t decide whether or not to keep the detail of Crowley losing his miracles. I feel like it could have been an interesting concept, but in the finale, it was only there so Crowley could be powerless against Brian Cameron. Otherwise, the gambling plot wouldn’t make sense. So I guess I’m asking if you think the idea of Crowley losing his miracles (without the gambling plot) aligns with s1 and s2, or if its only merit was in the finale for this reason.

I miss when this was the only Anthony we had…

I’m also sorry I don’t have any actual photos of David’s bts, just memes

I love it when I’m feeling a bit down and this song comes on

It genuinely makes me feel so much better. The song is tender and positive and sweet already, but added with David’s melodic and comforting voice, it’s even better. I feel like all the troubles in the world fade away when I hear him singing

Ainsley’s Prank??

I’m watching Prodigal Son for the first time and I just watched s2e7, where it’s revealed that the second murder is a prank. 1. FUCK AINSLEY. This is SICKENING behavior and she wanted to make herself the victim when Malcolm just wanted to protect her from her own actions. 2. Does this mean the amnesia was also a prank, or just the pig’s blood?

New English Bible?

I’m rewatching Rivals and in s1e1, they say that Declan threw the New English Bible out the window because he believes it’s a “literary abomination.” I’m not religious in any way and I am relatively uneducated in a lot of the translations of the Bible. Why does Declan hate the New English Bible?

Possible plothole? (Season one)

I have not finished season two, so if you mention it, please try to avoid major spoilers. I mean, this is about season one, so it shouldn’t be a huge issue, but just in case.

I was rewatching some scenes from the pilot episode and noticed that the prison room for Martin is very different from the elegant one we see the rest of the series. In the flashback to when Malcolm was in college and talking to Martin in his cell, it’s a yellow cell room with a huge cage in the center. But in the finale of season one, we see a flashback of Nicholas Endicott taking Martin to his red cell room that we know as the cell he spends the rest of his imprisonment in, only one year after Martin’s arrest.
Maybe this is just a budget difference from the pilot to the rest of the show? But that wouldn’t make sense because we see Martin’s regular cell in the pilot too. Now I’m thinking that they didn’t originally plan out the plotline of Nicholas being the one to get Martin’s luxurious prison accommodations, which is concerning seeing as that was a pretty important twist in the s1 finale…

Edit: my mistake, it was a flashback in the episode preceding the s1 finale, not the s1 finale. Still pretty important though

Who do you think did it? (S2e5 spoilers)

Who do you think stole the tapes and swapped them for Tony? I honestly think it might have been Maud, which would explain more how guilty she looked during the Gauntlet (I mean, other than the reasons she already has to look guilty).

I’m confused (s2e5 spoilers!)

Why did Tony throw his own camera out the window? Also, I don’t understand why his first reaction to receiving the new camera from Maud was to correct her and tell her that he threw it out himself. Do you think he’ll start photographing again?

My addiction to him is getting bad…

I’m watching Project Hail Mary, which is probably the best movie I’ve seen all year. I wouldn’t actually change anything about it. Except I keep thinking “wow David Tennant would do really well in this role,” and it’s getting distracting. This happens with anything I watch that doesn’t have DT in it. Help 😭

Edit: woah, I don’t like some of these comments. I was mostly posting this as kind of a relatable post, maybe see the experiences of other fans. I wasn’t trying to imply that I was stalking him or doing anything to harm him, I really admire and respect him and his family. Most likely, this is a hyperfixation, which I have been known to do before.

Hate GO3 but here’s a Good Omens/Hadestown Crossover

This statement is how I will rewatch Good Omens (just s1 and 2, never watching that movie again)

Political Parties of Characters?

Hi, I was curious about what all the characters’ political parties are. I’ve only seen the show, so I would love it if people who’ve read the book and have more insight could give me their two cents. Real-world politics are kind of a subtle background for the show, and I feel that I would be able to understand the characters and this world better if I knew. I’ve composed a short list of what political parties I think some of the characters are below (also, I’m American so please excuse me if I don’t get this completely accurate):

Declan O’Hara—left

Rupert Campbell-Black—conservative

Tony Baddingham—liberal? He seems to dislike Thatcher and obviously hates Rupert, >!who runs and win the election with her.!< Also, I vaguely remember him saying something like he donated money to Tony Blair?

Cameron Cook—Republican, conservative (she said that she voted for Reagan in s1). This is interesting to me because she’s a black woman (and republicans/conservatives aren’t known for exactly wanting to include black women that much), and additionally, wasn’t her mom a social activist? Now, it does make sense for her character to side with them even if their policies are against her because she has a tendency to side with people merely so she can elevate her own status.

Taggie O’Hara—liberal?
