Written Review: 2025 US Halal Menu 11 - Cherry Rolled Oats with Almond Flavor!

Hi folks!

Here, we continue our exploration of the modern, 2025 production, US Halal rations.

This is the Cherry Rolled Oats with Almond Flavor, and wow, was this a solid ration!

This is the last true breakfast menu remaining in the US wet pack lineup. There are 3 breakfast menus in the current MCW lineup, of course!

This whole ration nourished me on a day where I walked 15 miles throughout the day!

Pics 1-8 show packaging and contents. I decided to take closeups here in case you wanted more details/info from the labels. Again, we see these rations as being simple but effective. No coffee in Halal rations from the US ever.

Pic 9 is the cinnamon bun! There is nothing unique about this item, but it's comforting and delicious!

Pic 10 is the Shortbread cookie. I'm not sure why these are not in standard MREs. You can find them in makes of HDRs as well. It's just a plain and simple cookie. Great crunch, sweet, and again, comforting.

Pic 11 is the chocolate pudding. Love this stuff, and it goes fantastic with the shortbread cookie! Very rich, dep, dark chocolate flavor.

Pic 12 is the unassuming rolled oats. Doesn't look like much but tasted fantastic! Texture was just fine, not overly sweet, and the Cherry and Almond flavors are present for sure.

I'd eat this one again with no problems at all!

Try to find yourself a case of these Halal menus folks, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Take care!

Written Review: Ukranian National Guard Breakfast - Menu 15 - Buckwheat with Chicken, Vegetables, and Mushrooms

Hi folks!

Here, we take a look at a Ukranian National Guard Breakfast menu. This is a very simple ration with a main dish that was just about 1000 kcal. Crazy. Keep in mind that many US mains are under 300 kcal.

Shout-out to u/Affectionate_Fig4896 for this ration hookup!

No frills. Just effective, hearty, homestyle cooking....and slightly rancid crackers 😔.

Pics 1-6 show packaging and contents. Again, it is a simple ration with no frills. A nice spoon, though! And coffee!

Pics 7-8 show the coffee, made ice cold in 1/2 cup milk with 5 grams of sugar (sugar packet was 10 g total). A very nice cup of Joe with a nice strong flavor and perfect sweetness!

Pic 9 shows the main and 2 of the 4 crackers. Guys, u know I tell it straight, and this meal was not my favorite. 1st of all, the main dish smelled fantastic. Very savory. I won't say it smelled of chicken, though, more like beef. 2nd, I dislike mushrooms very much, and this had quite a bit all chopped up in there. It's just not a great texture. 3rd, it didn't really taste of chicken at all, nor was any really visible in the dish. The Buckwheat tasted great, but the presence of so many mushrooms and lack of chicken was disappointing. Couple that to crackers that tasted slightly rancid, and this meal had no chance for me.

I wanted to share it because it was still a great experience, and it did nourish me.

Take care, folks!

Big ❤️ for Outrageous-Edge-9428!

Hi folks!

Wow, did my weekend get even better opening a box from my French friend Outrageous-Edge-9428!

This box was supposed to have a single 24-hour Croatian ration inside, but as you can see, it had a whole lot more!

The 4 Spanish rations are actually for MKR, and those Pan Gallettas too! I'll bring those to him when we meet up on 22Aug2026!

My last order from him got sacked by customs. I know the risk. I got over it quickly. I did let him know, though, because foreign sellers like to be aware of customs hits, regions they occur in, etc. He felt bad because many orders were successful, including several to me previously.

He did say the package would have a surprise, but a NAFR Chocolate Muesli, WOW!!!

For those that don't know, the Chocolate Muesli from the Norwegian rations is my favorite Muesli on earth. I'm so stoked to have another to enjoy and will be reviewing it on the channel for sure!

Thank you, again, so much u/Outrageous-Edge-9428! It means the world to me!

Take care, folks, and don't forget to hit him up for your ration needs!

Written Review: Czech Republic Breakfast, Menu B2

Hi folks!

I'm taking a look at a Czech Republic breakfast today!

Czech rations are among my favorites!

Pics 1-3 show packaging and contents. Pic 2 shows the drink mix that wasn't sealed properly from the manufacturer and leaked all over everything inside.

Pics 4-5 show the coffee, made in milk, with sugar, and drank ice cold! It was great! A perfectly adequate cup of Joe.

Pic 6 shows the use of the tea! Again, I made milk tea! 1/2 cup of milk, approximately 4 grams of sugar, and steeped in the fridge overnight! This is a really great way to enjoy all those tea bags you have in a drawer because you don't care for hot cups of tea! Give it a shot!

Pic 7 shows the beverage base. Slight citrus notes and very weak, even at 2X strength. This was the same as I had in TX for the video review I did for my channel, and it was equally disappointing. These Czech beverage bases seem to alternate between being fantastic and terrible, and you never know which one you're gonna get!

Pic 8 shows the protein crispbreads and the apricot jam! Those crisp breads tasted like unsweetened peanut butter! Crazy! Super crispy and super fresh! The jam was fantastic, too! Great, strong flavor, and a nice sweetness!

Pic 9 shows the Porridge. Why not put the jam in the porridge? Trust me, u DO NOT want to eat all those crispbreads dry! It is slightly sweet with a thick, gruel like consistency. Did I like it? Yes. Would I buy it at the grocery store? Nope.

All that being said, and the fact I love crispbreads so much, this was a great ration that filled me up properly!

I suggest seeking some Czech out if you've never had. They have great menu variety and even have both wet pack and freeze-dried menus!

Take care!

Written Review: 2026 Production Ukrainian Civilian Ration - Wheat Porridge with Beef - Field Ration Menu 1

Hi folks!

Shout-out u/Affectionate_Fig4896 for this ration hookup!

It's a June 2026 production ration! Super fresh!

Pics 1-5 show packaging and contents! A simple but effective ration. We have seen this before with Ukrainian rations. They are no frills and not afraid to pack the majority of calories into the main. In this case, I think the main was around 900 kcal.

Keep in mind, folks, it's not uncommon in US MREs for the bread component to have just as many, if not more, calories than the main dish.

That spoon was actually a very nice spoon for sure.

Pic 6 shows the wet nap. Slight floral fragrance and plenty of moisture. Dampness was ideal as well. Strength also met expectations, and it didn't disintegrate upon use.

Pics 7-9 show the main dish, wheat porridge with beef. I fried this in a skillet to get some color and to pull out a bit of the moisture. I will admit folks of all Ukrainian rations I've had, this was my least favorite. The beef inside was very low quality, and I had to remove several pieces of some sort of veins or something. Salt and Cayenne helped along the way, too! It was, however, a hearty meal with a pleasant texture, in part due to the fact I fried it.

The Ukrainian biscuits are not my favorite. They get the job done and are not offensive or anything. The texture is just different, making them seem stale when they are not.

Not shown is the tea and sugar, which was used to make my patented cold milk tea. However, the tea bag broke open and spilled all the tea into the milk. While dealing with that at the time of consumption, I completely forgot to get a picture! Trust me, it was very flavorful and a perfect treat before heading out to work

Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I am thankful to have eaten it! I'm glad I have several more menus to try out and will probably review another here and one for my YouTube channel!

Take care!

Haul from Ukraine!

Shout-out to u/Affectionate_Fig4896! Not sure what magic he weaves, but another successful haul from him!

This is a 24 hr Ukranian Civilian ration, three 8 hr Ukranian Civilian Rations, and an 8 hr Estonian breakfast!

Just fantastic! I'm sure at least one of these will be reviewed on the channel!

I've already reviewed one of these Ukranian civy rations and it was so good I asked if he could source me some. Little did I know there was a 24-hour variety, too!

Thanks again man!

Take care folks!

Written Review: 2022 Canadian IMP, Menu 12, Pub-Style Pulled Beef

Hi folks!

I love IMPs, but I will say, right up front, this one was not my favorite. Just something about the flavor profile of the main did not agree with me, even after adding the Tobasco. In addition, the "meat" had a somewhat odd texture. The remaining elements of the main are more akin to the beef stew and were top notch.

Let's dive in!

Pics 1-6 show packaging and contents. It is a solid menu, but tortillas are not my favorite bread component. I prefer the bun or cornbread. We shall make the best of it, though!

Pic 7 shows the apples. Always fantastic, crisp, sweet, and a few even still had the skin attached!

Pics 8-9 show the PB&J quesadilla! A few min in the air fryer at 375F, and it was fantastic! Nice and crispy with melty PB&J! That raspberry jam is dynamite, folks!

Pic 10 shows the beverage base, lemon. This was a delight. I don't normally drink these full sugar beverage bases but make an exception for the IMP ones because they are so good.

Pic 11 shows the bbq snack mix. There is no bbq flavor at all, IMHO. It is, however, a wonderfully salty and crispy mix of yummy goodness! This came out on an 8 mile walk with me this morning and really hit the spot!

Pic 12 is the 3 in 1 Nescafe! This coffee is amongst the best in any ration. Creamy, sweet, and a nice strong coffee flavor!

Pic 13 is the beef with added Tobasco. U can read my thoughts in the intro. I don't think I'll be having another of these tbh. Wasn't my favorite.

Pic 14 is the tic tacs! The best way to experience these is all 4 at once and crunch time! BOOM goes the minty goodness, sinus passages clear, and you can breathe better than you have in a year!

Not shown is the Kit Kat, which also got eaten on my hike this morning after melting terribly in my backpack! I completely forgot to get a pic!

All complaints aside about the main, the rest of the IMP was solid as ever. These rations remain top-notch and will continue to hold a top 5 spot in my book.

Take care folks!

Written Review: US Halal Menu 10 - Beef Stew

Hi folks!

Here, we continue our exploration of the modern US Military Halal rations. Today is menu 10, beef stew.

This is a 2025 production with an inspection date of 2027. These have a 2 year date instead of 3 like modern standard MREs.

Pics 1-4 show packaging and contents. As we've seen with previous menus, gone are the flimsy packaging, instead opting for packaging more in alignment with modern standard MREs. We still see some significant differences, such as the accessory kits. We also see, again, items that are similar to what is in modern standard MREs but different (e.g., the oatmeal cookie in modern MREs vs. the Oatmeal Round in these Halal).

Not shown is the beverage base. Again, it contains maltodextrin, which I am not against. It simply makes the calories too high to be worth consuming from my perspective. It shall be given away at some point.

Pic 5 shows the oatmeal round. A familiar item for sure, but noticeably different from the oatmeal cookies in MREs. These are more sense with a firmer bite, but still maintain that familiar flavor profile that we all know and love from an oatmeal cookie. A wonderful item for sure.

Pic 6 is the beef stew. Again, this item has the familiar flavor of the modern MRE beef stew, but yet, it is noticeably different. The main difference here is the beef. The beef in the Halal is much less processed and has a more natural bite and feel, making it seem more wholesome and hearty. I dare to say, however, that in terms of overall flavor, it may be a bit more bland than standard MRE beef stew. Regardless, it was a great meal that I did not doctor in any way (no salt, no pepper, no chili flakes, nothing).

Pic 7 is the blueberry turnover, well heated in my toaster oven, which really turned that filling into a magnificent blueberry napalm. A truly different experience eating that with hot filling vs. cold. Bright blueberry flavor with a wonderful texture.

Pic 8 is the trail mix that includes actual M&Ms. Yes, they are listed in the ingredients. This mix has walnut halves in it! It's just fantastic! The only downside is that it is not salted. Crunchy and delicious.

We have seen these modern Halal menus deliver effectively and consistently, and this menu is no different. We have 2 menus left in this case, and one is one of the only true remaining breakfast menus left in modern MREs since the maple sausages demise this year (2026) from the MRE lineup. That menu is cherry rolled oats with added almond flavoring! Stay tuned for a review on that one soon!

Written Review: US Halal Menu 9 - Lentil Stew with Lamb

Hi folks!

Here, we explore a 2025 production US Military Halal Ration. This is a single meal and continues our exploration of the modern Halal menus. See previous posts for menus 1-8, as they can all be found here on the Subreddit!

Pics 1-4 show packaging and contents. Once again, these are simple rations that feed you well. The grape beverage was not prepared as it is the one with added maltodextrin, and that means added calories. So, instead of wasting it, I simply decided to keep it to give away at some point!

Pic 5 shows the filled French toast, shelf stable (obviously), and the Halal chocolate pudding. Two wonderful components that were my lunch one day! The French toast is sweet and tender, with a wonderful texture and bite. The flavor is not only fantastic but also familiar as well. The puddings I always like. This chocolate one is very rich and thick with deep notes of dark chocolate. Together, as in Pic 6, this was a great combo!

Pic 7 shows the whole wheat bread and the lentil stew. Again, these two items were my lunch today (15Jun). The bread is actually presliced and is quite nice with a yeasty flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. The stew was quite an experience. It's far sweeter and thicker than I expected it to be. It's like full-on American Baked beans sweet and thick. The lamb bits are plentiful, but they are, quite frankly, very dry and had the texture more of a sort of crumbly lamb jerky or something. I did like this dish for sure, but I can see where some folks would find it offensive given the sweetness and texture. Regardless, it was a hearty lunch!

As we've seen in the other menus, the modern Halal rations are very efficient, no frills meals. They get the job done and don't make a fuss in the process.

Hi folks!

Had this the other day and forgot to post.

It's a cherry blueberry cobbler from a US MRE, but the biscuit/cookie thing inside is fully intact! I've never seen that before as it's usually all mashed up in there!

Just thought it was neat!

U folks ever seen one like this?

Great little haul from Glad-Box-5310

Shout-out to u/Glad-Box-5310 for this haul. Superbquick, great communication!

3 packs of my favorite early 80s crackers and early 80s PB (1.5 oz!!!!), and 2 items from older RCWs, Ration, Cold Weather, that I have never had! Strawberry fruit soup and Escalloped Potatoes with Pork, a freeze-dried meal with a date code of 9077. I'm not sure if that's 1989 or 99 tbh. If you know, let me know, please!

I will do a video of these items as a meal for sure! The main has nonfat dry milk in it, so we will have to wait and see if it's good!

Take care, folks!
