I have a friend who’s dating one of their cousins in secret. I talk to him about it sometimes because just…how did that even happen. They’re both relatively happy people with a decent upbringing, so I just couldn’t understand how they managed to end up together.

From a biological standpoint, incest can genetically produce malformed, impaired, or defective offspring. When I reminded him of that he just told me
“we know we plan to adopt.”
To which I responded with. “What about the rest of your family? What will they think?”

And he told me something that now has me unsure of myself. He went into very detailed debate, about how hating on people loving family members is no different than hating on trans, ace, or same sex people. “Ace people don’t want sex, trans people are changing their bodies, and same sex couples don’t typically produce offspring.” He went on about how incest should be part of the + in the community and that hating on them was no different than hating on the rest of the community because they were different. That him and his cousin genuinely loved each other and being shunned by society for it shouldn’t happen. That other than being related they’re both consenting adults and should be able to do as they please.

Is that true?
