I made a post yesterday, when I was halfway through this novel, praising the leads chemistry together and hoping that she wouldn't break his heart after realising what he is.

Well, after that things didn't go exactly as I foresaw them. Some aspects were a happy surprise — such as the heightened horror/trhiller aspect, the development of the FLs connections other than the ml, and the solving of the mystery. Others, though, were incredibly disappointing — the repetitive smut scenes, the breeding kink, and the loss of any complex emotions she could have had there.

I adore the way the author described her conscience slipping in and out as he toyed with her mind and how terrifying it was for her. I truly did. However, I think I would have enjoyed it much better if she had had an emotional/moral conflict when the effects of his suggestions wore off.

I wish she had felt disgusted, but also nostalgic about how their relationship used to be when she didn't know about him and I wish this feeling would linger and develop before he decided to use hypnosis with her.

I understand that his very nature causes people unimaginable fear, but I wish he had tried to find a way to make this work with her before using his power to fry her brain. The fact that he was happy with a version of her that didn't have any thoughts at all was a cold water shower on everything we saw during the first arc. I thought he liked talking with her and studying her reactions. I thought he liked discovering new things about her and I thought he enjoyed flirting with her.

If any of that was true: then why the fuck was he satisfied with a sex doll version of her? It's so unnerving.

I find myself missing the heart-to-heart scene that I never got.

And the major culprit behind my broken expectations was none other than this damn breeding kink he had near the third arc. Other than ruining the smut scenes that were great up until this point, with a lot of creativity and proactivity on her side, it also ruined any good feelings she might still have had towards him.

I'm so sorry, but nobody falls in love with bad sex.

After he had this brilliant idea, their every interaction became something about procreation and don't take me wrong: that's a fetish that I enjoy in fiction. It makes for a good sexy angst, but you can still impregnate someone while making good sex.

I'll give him a pass because he's a literal animal, but damn. DAMN.

Anyway, back to the topic: with this breeding kink, I expected to see some body horror with her pregnancy which she clearly didn't want, but also did nothing about it? She didn't even think about it other than basic plot related stuff.

I was expecting a mental crash out over it. The disgust, the sense of nurturing an alien in your body, the fear of birthing another monster, the frustration over her lack of control over her body... And I got nothing, not even the conflict expected of someone who was deeply traumatised with parental abandonment, but also deeply traumatised with how this thing was conceived.

The horror aspect truly saved this last arc for me and I really loved the ending, but god... This could have been a 5 stars read for me with a just a bit more of the "psychological" tag.

So fucking close😭 I still can't decide if it's a 4 or a 4,5, though.

Someone, clearly not black, posted an image of a quan millz novel with their racist ass take on it. It's a scenario that makes no damn sense and filled with black stereotypes. It's literary black face. And some person tried to mayosplain to me that it's not black face because the author of the novel is black. But they skip over the fact that the words are not from the novel it's op's racist ass fanfic. And male yandere mods kept it up hours later go figure. Clearly this isn't a safe space for everyone. ::EDIT:: It's more than just the one post. I've seen other posts using aave colloquialisms by people who don't actually speak the language. I side eye but move on, thinking maybe they're just cringe. Then this shit happens. And if there is just one mod, then they should get more. We get bots and pdf posts on this sub. I would think they would realize the importance of having enough people around to moderate.

And telling me to do or think anything while saying I'm entitled is hypocritical. If I see anything like this before the post is taken down, I'll respond with "sybau." Requiring understanding while not giving understanding has got to be a form of abuse. You don't deserve a civil response coming at me like an authoritarian, and it's clear you're incapable of seeing my humanity to respond in such a way.

I feel like we always see the stories with plain/normal FLs to relate to the broader audience, but do you guys have any recommendations where the FL is either canonically beautiful or maybe they’re a famous celebrity? I’m open to dark or fucked up stories too!

So I’m aro? (manhwa is great for romance.. irl is not) and I realized that’s one of the reasons I love yanderes? Like for me personally I’m more aro but not for the reason of romance being too much, it’s just too little/shallow for me. So yanderes that have their love as their one person for everything (including romance ikik) hits so deep to me? And while I’m not big on sexual/couple things, doing it with someone who you have such a bond with or atleast values you more than anything and loves all of you, knows all of you, etc makes it sound sooo much nicer and actually appealing. Anyone else feel this way? Ofcourse irl yandere romance nonono but the ideas are so nice when written
