Just name wise, do you prefer "The Flames of Fate" or "Beyond Dreams?"
Ignoring everything besides what name you like the sound of more, which do you like better?

There's many times I've dropped a series because they drag out certain sections too long, or they continue a misunderstanding forever. I don't have the patience to read through it anymore. What's a series you dropped because you lost patience reading it?
There are exceptions, but usually family characters fall into two categories. Family members that worship the ground the FL walks on, and abusive terrible people. Similar to how a lot of these stories treat side character women, which is kind of odd.
These fawning families often accept everything at face value, obsess over the FL beyond normal levels, and act jealous and clingy. You can think your kid is cute, you don't have to say all women are hideous compared to her. They don't question the FL, and spoil her with whatever she asks for. Almost all compliments are about how beautiful she is, not often about her intelligence or skill. Usually it's men doing this, as these stories seem to like writing out female characters, including mothers. If it's only for wish fulfillment of having a kind family, why are mothers often excluded? Do these writers not like female characters? Again, there are exceptions, but usually women are written out.
The opposite end is the terribly abusive family, who mistreat the FL so she can later escape and be treated well. Often the child is mistreated because they lack some trait in either looks or talent, the skill they have is 'useless', the father cheated, or they can make money from their child. A child should not be denied meals or a place to sleep no matter their behavior. I'm not talking about siblings who simply avoid the FL because they don't get along. Some stories have the abusive family become a fawning one, which I think is a bad message. A child "acting better" (such as acting like a little adult, having a superior skill or knowledge), should not be a reason to treat your child well, a child should not have to earn basic care. The blame should be on the adults, not on the victim. Often abusive families usually fall into ruin. No one with any sense would give up their money making FL just cause they hate them, but they need to regret their actions somehow.
Beyond family characters, often a character is evil or fawning in regards to a FL. I'm referring more to how the family treats the FL, than how the FL acts when they marry in. These tropes are sometimes subverted, but this is often the baseline. Have you noticed such a trend?
A lot of people enjoyed the rival marriage system in Harvest Moon, in which bachelors and bachelorettes could marry each other. If you're not a fan of such a system, or prefer the other characters to only be with the MC, that's fine. For those who may be interested however, what pairings would you make? It's not really a post on whether the game needs ir or not, its just for fun.
Hi, I opened the game on the bus (away from Wifi) it said an update was required, so I updated it. Is this normal? Its allowing me to play now, but I thought most updates required wifi?
What Dragon Quest game do you consider the most 'feel good?' Something you play when you want cheering up, for example.
I don’t see this question often asked, what style of adventurer are you? Do you grind to purchase the new armor in every town? Or do you rarely ever open your wallet?
The question seems simple, but I feel it shows a lot about how different everyone’s play styles are. There’s some strategy in it, as you have to choose what you can afford, and who to upgrade. Should you buy now or wait for the next town? If you can only afford one armor piece, who do you give it to? Like real life, you’re incentivized to save money in the bank in case things go wrong! It’s not too serious a question, just for fun!
Besides remakes and spin-offs of course, main story only, not extra content. These games tend to be lengthy (something I think is great) so I’m curious to hear what others think is the shortest one, excluding the first three games.
In Dragon Quest IX, like XI, after almost every plot event, if you go to battle records, Stella will comment on what happened! It's a lot like party chat! It'd be nice to talk to your other party members too, but Stella has a lot of chats to see.
Not much else was said, but it seems to take place when Bianca and Nera are children.
Years of development just to hear they had to start over...How devastating.
I don't really see people talking about how sad this game is. Sad doesn't mean bad, they are good stories, but wow....This game is really depressing. I know what's sad is subjective, but here are a few examples that are sad in my opinion.
>!You start off the game with a poor guy who has gone months thinking everyone hates him, not knowing he's been dead for half a year.
The hero loses their wings and halo, and they pray so long to heal they fall asleep doing it, only to be left with their injuries forever. They'll never be able to fly with their own wings again.
Erinn's father died very suddenly, and had to give up his dreams of running an inn.
The Wight knight wakes up with his love dead, and his whole country in ruins. His poor love waited in vain for him to never come home.
Coffinwell is surrounded by death, everyone is dying. It's very upsetting coming home from the dungeon seeing you were too late. She dies in her bed alone.
Jona loses her father and is orphaned.
Bloomingdale...This whole situation is sad from beginning to end.
Zere Rocks, another tragedy.
Losing Greygnarl (I know he's a treasure map boss, but still.)
Seeing Aquila die. (I know there's a way to save him, it's still sad.)
Corvus's and those around him had tragic ends.
The hero is helpless as they're beaten by a higher celestrian. The hero has to give up who they are just to fight. (I don't know why their friends at the pub couldn't fight.) The hero then loses essentially their entire family.!<
You can pick whatever you think fits a movie best, what would sell best, or even what you'd want to see.
I think 8 might be a good choice, it has a lot of fans, the story is pretty good, and it has a smaller cast (so every one can have more attention).
It doesn't necessarily have to be someone you consider ugly, just someone you aren't attracted to in looks. What love interests do you like for the personality, not their looks?
I know the film is based on real events, but for those who haven't watched it, tell me if this sounds familiar:
A historical romance with a cheerful FL who is sent to a cold nobleman ML's castle to take care of his children. Through her kindness, she charms everyone around her, and the kids become closer to her. The FL also has a special talent that catches the ML's attention. The cold ML dethaws at the FL's kindness, and at a party at the villa they dance together. The baroness tries to get between the FL and ML. Eventually the FL and ML marry.
With royals, a cold Duke, a cheerful FL, childcare tropes, a ball, castles, jealous baroness, the romance...Add a isekaied character and you have a Otome Isekai. I know it's not a perfect fit, but it reminded me of a lot of the recommendations on here. It's not meant to be a discussion about what's otome Isekai or not, but I do think it's interesting to think about.
