Which kada looks better?

I bought two. I like the black one, but I am not sure which one looks good on me.

What should my syllabus be for a job change?

M27, SDE 2 in India. I switched companies about a year ago, and my current company is a good, globally recognised brand. However, my team mostly gets mundane work like KTLO and other maintenance tasks. I’d be okay with that as long as I had some peace of mind, but lately, and I think this is largely because of the AI boom, senior management, a bunch of ex-Amazonian bastards, have started setting unrealistic expectations. Apparently, my productivity should suddenly be 1.5x what it used to be.

I think that 1.5x expectation only really applies when it comes to coding. For planning, discovery, and work that requires research and deeper thinking, I don't find AI nearly as helpful. But I digress.

When I switched companies last time, my interview preparation was mostly based on my resume. I covered the basics of DSA, system design (LLD and HLD), Java, SQL, Kafka, and Spring Boot. Since then, I've also worked with Spinnaker, Kubernetes, Kotlin, and DynamoDB.

Should I just add these technologies to my interview prep syllabus and be good to go, or should I study something else based on the current market?

I've also lost quite a bit of confidence lately because of some things going on in my personal life, and I'm starting to question whether I want to stay in this field because of all the politics and bullshit happening at my current company.

I know I'm better than almost all of my peers when it comes to analysis, design, and coding, but I feel like I'm losing out on a lot of exposure because my company is an MNC, and apparently, everything moves incredibly slowly in MNCs, except the toxicity.

Any advice on how I should restart my job search and get back into the job-switching mindset?

Women exuding confidence

I find confident women really attractive. I like a woman who knows what she wants. Is that weird?

I'm not sure how I'd feel about dating someone who's had multiple relationships. I'd probably wonder whether I'm an upgrade or a downgrade compared to her past partners. I could never settle for someone who doesn't treat me right or meet my standards just because I'm lonely or hoping it'll make me happy.

I've seen this a lot in arranged marriage dating. People change their type because they're tired of failing and hope the next choice will finally bring them love and satisfaction. That mindset doesn't work for me.

I don't want someone who's looking for a relationship to fix or stabilize their life. I just want someone who shares my values and compassion. Is that really too much to ask?

Which country should I move to as a software engineer for good pay, career growth, and an accepting culture?

M27 here from India. I’m considering moving abroad for a software engineering job, hoping to work in a country with a stronger tech industry and better compensation.

I’m not seriously considering the USA right now due to the uncertainty around immigration policies and deportation concerns.

I graduated from an IIT and have 4 years of experience in backend development. ChatGPT suggested countries like Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada, Singapore, and Australia.

I’m a fairly simple person and would appreciate living in a place where people are generally welcoming towards outsiders. Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of negativity and hate directed towards Indians online, so this is something I’m mindful of.

To summarise, I’m looking for a country that offers:

A developed software industry

High-paying software jobs

Good work-life balance

A society that is reasonably accepting of immigrants

My plan would likely be to spend a few years abroad, gain experience, save money, explore a different part of the world, and then move back to India around the time I’m looking to settle down and marry.

Would love to hear from people who have made a similar move or are currently working in these countries.

I'm scared I'm losing the part of me that loved to learn

I am a 27-year-old male. I don't know how it happened, but suddenly I have sooooo many opinions about people, and I find myself judging everyone I come across.

As a kid, I was extremely curious. I questioned everything and had the urge to talk, debate, and understand a subject until I felt there was nothing left to know about it, whether it was science, philosophy, or anything else that caught my interest.

I was even stubborn enough to file a complaint against my teacher to his supervisor when I was 17 because he said I was too rigid to learn something.

Now, I'm scared that all that curiosity and energy are fading away. It feels like my ability to learn is declining at an alarming rate, and my opinions are becoming more and more rigid.

I never wanted to become this way. It feels unnatural, and I feel like I'm becoming weaker every day in my fight against it.

Maybe I'm just overthinking this. But if I'm not, I need help finding my way back to the person I used to be.

Is it just me, or have people forgotten basic personal space?

I, M 27, live in Malviya Nagar and commute to Gurgaon for work, and I've noticed something that keeps happening almost every day.

People will deliberately stand extremely close to me even when there's plenty of space available. I'm talking about situations where there's 5–6 feet of free space on either side, yet someone still chooses to stand right next to me, almost breathing down my neck. Sometimes it feels like they're actively trying to bump into me while walking.

I've noticed this with both men and women. If I react or say something, it often turns into cussing, arguments, or an attempt to start a fight.

Am I imagining this, or has anyone else noticed a complete lack of awareness about personal space in Delhi? What's going on here?

I'd genuinely like to know if this is a common experience or if I'm somehow attracting these situations.
