Could Sissi’s mother be of East Asian descent?

Could Sissi’s mother be of East Asian descent?

She's obviously French on her father's side, but we don't know anything about her mother.

Arguments against this

  1. She's portrayed by a European actress in Evolution.
  2. She makes derogatory remarks at Yumi in XANA Awakens.
  3. Most characters in the show look similar.

Counterarguments

  1. Evolution isn't canon lol
  2. Perhaps she never knew her mother and had no exposure to that side of her lineage
  3. Ulrich and Odd asked Sissi to impersonate Yumi. I get that they're not the brightest tools in the shed, but come on.

They probably just intended her to be French, but this wouldn’t be a crazy retcon or anything for season 5.

The alternate timeline that nobody talks about…

Headcanon: FD1’s alternate ending where Clear gives birth to Alex’s baby and FD3’s alternate opening where Wendy never gets on the ride take place in the same universe.

FD5 would automatically be canon to this timeline since it’s a prequel. You could possibly throw in Bloodlines because all that would change is Bloodworth saying there are several survivors instead of just two.

The only movie that would fundamentally change with FD1’s alternate ending is FD2. Perhaps Carter could’ve helped Kimberly and Burke instead of Clear. That would’ve been more interesting to me and given him more character development.

Perhaps Kimberly would finally be shipped with someone her own age for once.

FD3 would be a short film rather than a full movie lol. FD4 would safely work within this timeline, but I don’t care for it.

I know people hate FD1’s original ending…but is Alex getting killed by a brick really better? Did Kimberly just deserve to survive more than everyone else?

The precedent that there must be zero survivors killed any suspension for me by Bloodlines.

Would you guys watch TV movies that are condensed versions of each season?

In the same vein as those One Piece specials that fit arcs into a single movie. It would have the most important episodes stitched together with new animation.

Which episodes would you want to be included for each season? For the first movie, I’d combine the X.A.N.A. Awakens specials with every episode having to do with Aelita’s materialization.

My thoughts as a new viewer!

I loved the first film! Strongest X-Files vibes. Great way to start the franchise. The first premonition will always stand out to me.

FD2 felt sillier overall, the pile-up scene really pushed my suspicion of disbelief. They should’ve included a gas truck or something. But Clear’s return made it worthwhile!

I heard that most of the protagonists don’t survive because test audiences thought it was too corny, but the deaths are already so over the top by the second film that it blurs the line between comedy and horror.

The suspense was gone after the third movie because I already knew everybody was going to die.

I like a lot of the scrapped ideas and alternate scenes better personally, such as Clear smiling before the explosion (or even surviving in early drafts) and Wendy surviving.

My main criticism of the third movie is the lack of continuity with the other two. I wish it felt like a proper trilogy. For example, Wendy could’ve emailed Kimberly for advice and had a video call with her. Not helping her in person could've been a loophole. At least FD5 went full circle…

And I honestly don’t even know how to fix FD4.

Sorry if these are basic/common critiques. I’ll still rewatch these films and watch the seventh one whenever it comes out!

Some veridical NDEs might suggest that relationships are eternal

A mentality I’ve noticed is that relationships are trivial attachments/illusions and that the ultimate goal is merging into a single mind.

However, people have obtained information about deceased relatives they didn’t even know existed and later verified it to be true.

There wouldn’t be a practical purpose for this unless there was a meaningful postmortem connection with relatives.

Not to mention the abundant anecdotes where people reunite with deceased relatives who directly tell them that their relationships are eternal.

The “source” and individual souls aren't mutually exclusive. You can still retain individuality while being connected to the “oneness” which is described in many NDEs.

Does anyone else prefer season 1’s animation and general vibe?

Lyoko looked more atmospheric and the 2D animation was less stiff. It’s a shame we didn’t get to truly see Aelita with season 1’s animation.

The only part of season 1 people like is Aelita being an AI, but that's personally my least favorite part about it lol.

How did they not suspect that Aelita was human earlier??

Sorry for the back-to-back posts, but this has really perplexed me.

Did the thought never occur that if they could be virtualized, Aelita could’ve been like them at some point?

If she was a purely digital being, then she should’ve materialized with pointy ears and her Lyoko outfit. It got ridiculous by the time Aelita was having visions a.

I could see Odd and Ulrich being oblivious, but Yumi and especially Jeremy should’ve been suspicious at the very least.

Theory/head canon: Yumi brought up the possibility to Aelita during an early mission and she got uncharacteristically upset

Dear Europeans, when do you generally think the most culturally significant part of the year is?

Beginning, middle, or end of the year?

I held a poll regarding this and the majority said the end of the year, but I feel like the poll might’ve been too skewed towards Americans because of Halloween and Thanksgiving, which are either limited or not celebrated at all outside of North America.

Holidays during the autumn and early winter are still fairly common outside of North America due to the harvest, but I'm curious if this sentiment holds up.

What do you think is the most culturally significant part of the year? (all)

I’m trying to figure out what the consensus is regarding when the cultural “peak of the year” is, so to speak. Not anything serious, just morbid curiosity.

Could someone explain the current consensus regarding the origin of the twins to me?

I apologize for lashing out the other day. I got overemotional because I grew up with Avatar, and it helped me through hard times, so seeing such a radical departure set me off.

Rather than bottling up my feelings or arguing, I'd like to learn others' perspectives.

Why do people want Pavi to contain Vaatu and Nisha to contain Raava, and why would people rather them both be reincarnations of Korra somehow rather than separate lines?

I've heard it's because people want their expectations subverted, but given how frequently it's brought up, it seems like a predictable twist.

As for Korra's soul being split into two new ones, it just confuses me. Wouldn’t Vaatu merging with Nisha's (or Pavi's?) soul at birth (à la Unalaq) make more sense than Korra being split in half? Perhaps I’m seeing it all wrong.

I personally feel like a show doesn't need twists to be interesting, and Nisha having Vaatu would still subvert the "dark = evil" trope since she's probably a good guy, judging by the trailer.

I'm not seeking to argue this time, I'm just trying to understand. I’ll accept whatever the consensus is.

I’ll forgive this show for anything except for one thing.

I’m willing to be lenient/open-minded about this show. I can deal with the post-apocalyptic setting and I love the character designs, but I think my suspension of disbelief will be broken if they do a Shyamalan-level twist regarding Pavi and Nisha's origins.

I don't want “Pavi is actually Vaatu!!” or “They’re actually two halves of the same person/soul!!”

Everyone keeps saying one (or both) of these is true and it bothers me.

Just let Pavi be Korra’s full reincarnation and Nisha be a normal twin who somehow got Avatar powers (most likely merged with Vaatu?). Pavi being the "dark" Avatar all along would be too corny and the Avatar spirit splitting in two is just too lore breaking in my opinion.

Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

What’s your wishlist for Seven Havens?

Here’s mine…

Pavi and Nisha being separate souls from the get-go rather than just “Korra split in two.” Pavi being the reincarnation of Korra and Nisha being a separate person sounds more interesting to me. And in Dharmic beliefs, souls or streams of mind have no beginning or creation. I know Avatar isn't inherently a Buddhist/Hindu show, but I'd prefer this direction for the twin Avatars.

Korra being “redeemed.” I say redeemed in quotations because I doubt Korra actually caused the cataclysm, but I hope Korra has a stronger legacy as an Avatar within the fandom and in-universe after the true story is revealed.

I hope that Pavi communicates more with Korra than Korra did with Aang. It would be interesting to see the trope of earthbenders being the least spiritual be subverted

I’m glad they didn’t go in a cyberpunk direction, but it would be cool if SOME technology existed within the seven havens. Not modern or futuristic, but like mid-century. Perhaps the army uses radios to communicate and has radar displays. Photography and films could still exist. It would be nice to see photographs of Aang and Bolin's movies preserved or recovered somehow.

It’s likely that most of the airbenders are descendants of Tenzin’s children, given how there are four of them and descendants duplicate with each generation, but it would be interesting for this to be confirmed in the show. But given the fact that the Avatar’s reputation was ruined, they might be ashamed of being descendants of Aang, perhaps they'd even be discriminated against.

Hot take: Hiroki would be a great Lyoko warrior in season 5

Assuming season 5 takes place a few years later, he’ll be as old as the Lyoko warriors in the original series. He probably would’ve matured by then.

I doubt we’ll actually see him go to Lyoko, even Sissi joining the team is more likely, but Hiroki would be my third choice behind William and Sissi.

I just love the idea of siblings on Lyoko lol. Jeremy and Patrick would also be cool (cousins, but still).

I find it so cute how Aelita’s room was decorated with Hello Kitty. You can tell that Franz Hopper really loved his daughter.

I hope that we see more flashbacks in season 5!

u/Weary-Habit-5157 — 26 days ago

Something interesting to explore in the revival

Did Aelita grow up completely isolated, only interacting with Franz Hopper, or did she have friends before Lyoko? We saw that she was allowed to play outside, so she might’ve interacted with some other kids in the local area, but I presume it was infrequent. What were the psychological effects of this isolation?

Imagine Aelita stumbling into a friend she knew before Lyoko. Perhaps they’re an intern or new professor at Kadic. That would be a very interesting episode.

What’s your wishlist for season 5?

Here’s mine (most to least likely)

Jeremy gets virtualized on Lyoko (would be a massive missed opportunity and disappointment to fans if they didn’t)

More flashbacks of Aelita’s childhood and Franz Hopper

New places and/or monsters

No more “will they, won’t they”

William rejoining the group

Finding out what happened to Anthea

Human antagonist(s)

A new member joining the group on Lyoko (besides William

Finding out who Sissi’s mom was (I love the headcanon that she was of East Asian descent, but I doubt it)

They reveal that other professors were acquainted with Franz Hopper and knew about the supercomputer

Multiple new members joining (they need all the help that they can get!)

The parents of one of the warriors find out about Lyoko, yet keep the secret for whatever reason

A lot of these were in Evolution. Evolution had a lot of good ideas, just bad execution.

IMO, it would be boring if they just kept the status quo with everything. Same four people on Lyoko, same sectors, same monsters, Jeremy never goes to Lyoko, William becomes irrelevant, etc.

I fixed Aelita’s season 1 design

Aelita doesn’t look like herself in False Start. I know it’s because her design was still a work in progress, but it’s jarring to rewatch False Start and New Order back-to-back because of this. I wish they gave her bigger hair from the start.

Bonus: edit of the hair with the original eyebrows. Doesn’t look too bad either.
