R1S tailgate sealant glue - melting in warm weather

Recently did a drive though warm country in AZ (100-105F) and after the first day started getting “liftgate obstruction” error. Wasn’t sure the issue until the daytime I can see the weatherstripping literally came off the top and is in the hinge. Lookin closely, the adhesive Rivian is using clearly is not strong enough to tolerate the temp from the sun on the roof.

Put in a service ticket. Rivian AI agent told me this is a “known issue”. Second issue with our 2026 vehicle regarding insufficient adhesive causing trim to come loose.

Even though there is now a gap from the roof, I don’t think it will affect waterproofing (rain would flow around the gap on either side)

Any other warm climate people deal with weatherstripping melting/coming loose? Clearly Rivian needs to reconsider the adhesive they’re using. Also wondering if there are other “problematic” areas that I should proactively examine before the mobile tech comes.

California DMV renewal - is R1S considered utility too?

Inquiring. Got my dmv renewal paperwork along with the anticipated sticker shock. Kinda hurts.

Anyway, I noticed the vehicle (2026 R1S) is classified as a UT body type (utility). Is this correct? I did some reading online and see that can apply to the r1T because of the bed. But is this correct on the R1S? Haven’t found anything about the weight being a factor.

That being said, is this classification helping me or hurting me renewal cost-wise? Don’t have my own business, so hard to use it as a tax write off if it’s considered “commercial”.

Thanks

Help. Scammed into a higher plan by Arlo on Pro cameras

Hello. We have a few of the Arlo Pro cameras (bought when it included the free cloud recording). Also one indoor camera for which we paid 24/7 recording.

Randomly I got a charge on my credit card last month for $43 bucks from Arlo. Slipped my mind to inquire and then just now got a charge for $479!!!

Log into the account and see they’ve enrolled me into a “premium+24/7” plan. Never told me. I never opted into this. Nothing.

Feels terribly illegal.

WTF.

I remember there was a lot of commotion earlier about the cameras and their breach of promise to consumers who paid for lifetime cloud coverage. Was there some agreement that they can just change the plan without telling me? If I hit cancel, obviously I want my money back on this POS system.

Options? Advice? (Besides throw them into the trash)

Summer temp (110-110F) impact on efficiency and charging?

Planning our first summer road trip with the family and debating whether to take the R1s or ICE vehicle. Have taken the Rivian on other treks with the fam and was really pleasurable, wifi hotspot etc (max pack helps). Had to charge 1-2 times which was the only downer (added about 45min to the drive; NACS capable so Superchargers).

We are looking at a drive in the summer through some pretty miserably hot parts of AZ. Prob 100F in the shade. Guess the road temps will be hot enough to fry an egg.

Should we be expecting a significant drop in range given the heat and the AC usage? Would suck to add another charging stop.

Along those lines, is charging going to also be significantly slower rates? Imagine temp management will be trying to keep the battery cool?

Imagine there’s some AZ or Texas folks who have experience with this stuff.

Dimming roof on the R2

Anyone else bummed that they didn’t offer an electro chromatic dimming roof option to the r2? With that huge panel of glass and feeling the heat through the glass without it, it was a must have feature on my R1. Anyone hear discussion on the reason (just simplify build/cost?) and whether it could be added as a later feature?

Really bummed. And no, I think the sunshades are unattractive and kill the look. Def would have paid for it as an option or upgraded to a premium build.

Day/hour one reservation.

Here’s a fun question. What do you use this mysterious 1cm groove infront of the charger pads for?

Awkwardly angled cell phone holder? Pencils? Grip when you floor it?
