Hi I just want to know if this is true

I work at another retail company and at my job on our ELOs or TCs (handheld computers) we're able to look up if an item is in stock at other stores as well as our home location.

I went into a Walgreens store this morning and the item I wanted wasn't in stock there. I asked if they could look up on their TCs if it was in stock at any nearby Walgreens and they told me I had to use the Walgreens app for that.

I've only used the Walgreens app one time, to clip a coupon. I had to reset my password, log in, and then every time I tried to search for the item in the search bar, it was only letting me search for coupons, not telling me what stores had the product or how many items were left at each store.

Even when I look up an item and click to change my preferred store, it doesn't say how many items are at the other locations.

So going back to the TCs, are the employees able to look this information up or not? Was this just a lack of training on their part or can they really not do it?

Judgmental philosophy

My dad seems to have this flaw about always thinking he has the right to criticize other people to me when we're out.

If he sees someone with a tattoo he comments on how trashy that looks, or how ugly it looks, etc.

If he sees someone with a hair style which to him looks unusual, he comments things like "Look at their hair! haha!"

If he sees someone with jewelry other than earrings or rings, like a nose piercing or eyebrow piercing, he gets judgmental about that and implies or outright says that they must just be trash.

One day there was a woman coming out of a store and she looked almost just like me. Like in another universe maybe we could be sisters or twins or something.

My dad, a morbidly obese man himself, said "Aint she big!"

I said "She's about the same size I am."

I'm so sick of this nonsense. I know I can't control his behavior but it's upsetting that he has to be this toxic and nasty toward people.

He's supposed to be a Christian who believes every other human is made in God's image. How can he hold that belief and yet behave this way?

It's not other people's responsibilities to line up with his personal tastes in jewelry, fashion, art, hair styles, or body type.

They have their own tastes and wants and beauty standards and they're under no obligation to line up with his.

Is this just how his generation was taught to think or is it just his own bad attitude?

Having to ask questions multiple times

My dad has always had this problem to some degree but it's definitely gotten worse over the last few years.

I'll ask him a simple question and he'll answer everything except what I asked or he'll finally give an answer after several rounds of the same question but sometimes it's inaccurate.

I could ask him what store he went to today and he could list a bunch of stores he likes rather than just answering the question.

Today he went to a hardware store and bought some new hoses because apparently one or both of the ones at home are "worn out".

That's fine but when I was trying to figure out if it was the old hose in the front, the old hose in the back, or both that were worn out, he kept responding to questions I didn't ask instead of telling me, like mentioning there was a faucet on the side of the house which wasn't even the topic at all.

Then when I asked again if the long one in the front was still good he said yes, that one was undamaged.

I went out and it had a hole almost worn all the way through and was not in good shape so I finally knew that was the bad one, at least one of them anyway, so I packed it up into a trash bag.

I tried to check the one in the back but it was way too hot to spend much time outside and I knew asking him would be fruitless.

I wish there was a way to keep him on topic or at least to listen to the actual question I'm asking.

Almost every time I ask a question rather than listening and responding to what I asked, he brings up a bunch of irrelevant stuff tangentially related to what I asked.

I don't trust "dedicated fryers" at gluten restaurants.

Here's my hot take about "dedicated fryers".

Let's say a restaurant is supposed to, by policy, have a dedicated fryer. Some place like Five guys or Chick-Fil-A.

If a new employee accidentally puts a breaded item into the wrong fryer what do you think happens?

I will tell you what they likely don't do. They don't drain out all the oil in the middle of lunch or dinner service.

They don't tell their gluten free diners "Bob popped a basket of chicken nuggets in our fries fryer earlier"

No they continue on as if it didn't happen maybe warning Bob not to do that, but will you as a customer ever know?

They will carry on as if it didn't happen because they're not in the business of catering to rare diseases. The oil might not get changed for a week.

If you ask if they have a dedicated fryer just for french fries, they'll say yes, only fries go in there, because that's their general policy.

You may be safe nine times out of ten, but there's always going to be a Bob at some point.
