Did any other plus size people misunderstand their dysphoria for a long time?

Like many other trans people I always hated my body and felt very uncomfortable in my own skin. As a child I also had a lot of weight insecurity projected onto me by my mother.

Now that I’ve gotten older and deconstructed a LOT of things I realized that for a long time I mislabeled my dysphoria as weight dysmorphia. As an adult, I don’t mind being a plus size person (in fact, since discovering my true gender and starting HRT I dream about weight redistribution, and it makes me love being a bigger person, I can’t wait for my hips to fill out)

I just feel as though this correlation slowed down my mental progression for so long, because every time I looked in the mirror and felt numb and gross I could just blame the fat instead of actually thinking about what was making me feel so awful.

It was such an easy scapegoat for all my discomfort, but I am so much happier now actually addressing the real problem areas.

Just wanted to post here to see if anyone else had the same/similar experiences

21 Transfem looking for some Valorant/general gaming buddies

Hello! I’m looking for some kind people to play Valorant/other games. I’m pretty fresh into voice training and I’m tired of being misgendered by randoms, it just makes me not want to talk

I’d love to get more into friendslop games too, I’ve just never had a group consistent enough to justify buying them

If anyone is interested please shoot me a DM so I can add you on discord/valo <3

(I play PC)

Helen Joyce, and others like her, have no credible voice in any trans conversation

I always like to ask conservatives/transphobes a simple question:

“Do you think you understand the horrors of war better than a combat veteran?”

Almost all of them will immediately say no, of course not, someone who has experienced that violence obviously has a better grasp of the hardship.

“What about a really smart person, someone with a PhD, who has done a lot of research into military history?”

No, a soldier still understands it better.

“What about an actual military historian, someone who was never in the armed forces but who has spent decades doing extensive research into every major conflict in human history, including watching graphic videos and viewing horrible pictures?”

No a firsthand account is still the most reliable.

SO WHY DOES THIS LOGIC NOT CONNECT IN RELATION TO TRANS INDIVIDUALS. It’s so frustrating constantly having to justify your existence to people whose entire argument is based off not understanding, and not wanting to understand. LIKE YOU DON’T HAVE TO GET IT YOU JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT WE EXIST, AND TRUST ME WHEN I SAY I AM WHO I SAY I AM.

I can’t imagine being so miserable all you care about is policing how other people dress and express themselves, and restricting access to healthcare because you can’t relate to an experience that you will never have. A woman should still expect her husband to hold her hand during childbirth, and he would be seen as a heartless monster if he didn’t show a speck of compassion for his wife during her pregnancy and through the birth of their child. So why is it not a societal expectation to just accept people are who they say they are, even if you have never experienced an incongruence of your own biological sex and your gender?

I’m sorry that you’re so fucking heartless you consciously pick and choose which people you feel for.

Even if you are an awful, bigoted, terrible human being, if you are having one of the worst moments of your life or are in pain, I WILL FEEL FOR YOU, because I SEE YOU AS A PERSON.

I don’t understand how these people claim to not be bigots when they spend all their time saying everything except for what they think is the truth: “I don’t feel bad for anything you go through, or anything I put you through, because your life has less value than mine”

Recommendations for androgynous/slightly fem leaning business casual attire?

Ok so I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for here.

I’m AMAB but am currently 1 month on HRT, I’m sort of stealth-transitioning… in that I’m not socially transitioned yet but I’m planning on just dressing more and more androgynous/feminine as the effects of HRT become more noticeable (I’m also still kinda figuring out whether I fall fully under She/Her woman, or if I prefer Transfem NB, so I’m not ready to commit to new pronouns yet)

Anywhoosle, I am currently on the job hunt (returning from remote work to in person), and I work in a field where business casual is pretty standard for interviews and daily work. I’m looking for suggestions on clothing that leans more into an androgynous/feminine zone, but won’t get me immediately clocked like a skirt/dress would.

At my last in person job I would just pick a different dress shirt and pair of slacks every day, maybe throwing in a tie if I felt fancy.

It just feels like there are so many options for more feminine clothing, and it’s harder for me to discern with my untrained eye what toes the line of business casual and just casual

Does anyone else remember these fondly?

I remember being a kid and getting these all the time at my local DQ, such a nostalgic flavor for me. But they don’t seem to serve them anywhere anymore

To all my transfem lesbian eggs:

I just wanted to make a post here in the hopes that maybe some people will relate, and maybe I can help a few people process some things as I haven’t seen a lot of discussion around this particular concept.

The hardest part about coming to terms with my gender identity was separating it from my sexuality. I was always drawn to women growing up, but once puberty hit and the hormones made everything confusing that natural magnetism that women had was twisted into a self identity where I saw myself as a pervert who was constantly thinking about women and their bodies.

This paired with the intense body dysphoria that I didn’t yet have a name for led to years and years of self hatred, thinking I would never be worthy of love. When you don’t know what gender envy is and haven’t accepted yourself as a woman, it’s so easy to conflate that feeling as attraction or arousal (and sometimes it IS both which makes it even worse)

All this to say if you have persistent thoughts of self hatred because you can’t stop thinking about the bodies of women around you it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person, or that you are objectifying or sexualizing them.

Once I accepted that I AM a woman, I instantly felt more at peace with my sexuality as well, and those feelings of self hatred have started to fade. Part of being a woman (at least in this society) is constant comparison of your body to the societal concept of female beauty. I still feel dysphoria when I look in the mirror, but at least I know where it’s coming from, and can admit to myself what parts I don’t like and why. I feel excited knowing what changes are coming and what the future can hold, and that’s so much better than feeling broken all the time <3

Edit: grammar

Should I stop taking Sertraline before I start HRT?

Ok, this is really random but I’ve had a crazy few days and this is just one question I can’t find any resources for online, so I’m hoping someone has had a similar experience.

I have pretty bad anxiety, like so bad I throw up in the mornings from stress/anxiety pretty frequently. I recently got prescribed Sertraline, and am currently in the trial period, I’m supposed to go have a check in with my psych so he can put me on a stronger dose in 2 weeks, given im not experiencing any allergies.

Then my egg cracked. I’ve honestly known for some time but wasn’t being truthful with myself, and now that I am I really want to start taking next steps. My question is, should I stop taking the Sertraline before I start medically transitioning?

I know they are safe to be used in combination, but I kind of want to see if just accepting myself and starting GAHT will alleviate some of my anxiety naturally, as well as giving myself the opportunity to get to know my new emotions CAUSED by the hormone changes without the veil of Sertraline.

Idk, I’m just conflicted because it was such a long journey for me to even seek treatment for my anxiety, and I don’t want to stop right when I’m starting. But I also feel like it might be best to just put it on pause until I’ve started medically transitioning, and then reassess.

Looking for any perspective… this is all so new and scary. Any advice in general would be appreciated. I know this feels right, but the imposter syndrome is strong with this one
