2-12 or 3-18? Ffp or spf? Hawaii axis deer.

I mostly hunt wild pigs in hawaii with a 1-6x24 lpvo but want to start rifle hunting axis deer and mauna kea sheep. I bought a tikka t3x 20 inch barrel for the job and what to put a good scope on it.

After lots of research, night force seems to be top shelf for long term durability. So I'm leaning towards saving up lots of coin for a new Night force NX6. Buy once, last a lifetime mentality.

I don't know what specific distances I'll be hunting. sheep are easier to staulk close but my friends say their shots on axis deer are around 200 yards and they are stealthy in open country.

I'm torn between getting the 2-12 or the 3-18 version. Should I get ffp of sfp? I'm leaning towards the 2-12 sfp for simplicity. But it's a lot of money for me so don't want to regret my decision later. I don't plan on hunting past 300 but anything is possible in the future if I opt for longer range cartridge.

Red dot for Glock 20 gen5

Can anyone recommend a red dot for Glock 20 gen5. I guessing that I need a tough optic to hold up to the recoil of full power 10 mm. I'm looking at the MPS 2.0, but it seems to look kinda bulky and sit high on the slide. Maybe a SIG enclosed optic? I would prefer to make the sights lower co witness the optic window. What are other people running on theirs? perhaps I should just get good iron sights.

Aftermarket handguard for Ruger sfar

I'm putting a riflespeed gas block onto a 16 inch Ruger sfar. I bought a CMT handguard that is shorter than the factory handguard, so the gas control knob extends past the handguard. I've seen YouTube videos where they've done the same modification but with Midwest industries handguard. The intention of the modification is to be able to tune the gas unsuppressed or suppressed. The SFAR is ar15 size receiver and is supposedly ar15 handguard compatible.

When I started to inspect the CMT handguard I noticed that the anti rotatation tabs are a tiny bit wider than factory sfar handguard. The cmt handguard tabs don't fit on the sfar receiver very snug, there's a small gap. If it was too tight I could file the tabs but it looks too loose. I have a cmt handguard on an IWI ar15 and that isn't the case, the tabs fit very tight. And the factory Sfar handguard tabs fit very tight to itself as well.

Should this be a compatibility concern? Or do these tabs not matter because the lockup on the barrel nut holds everything good to go? The way the cmt handguard connects to its barrel nut is really solid. Maybe it's my OCD brain overthinkinging it.

10 mm pistol for hog hunting?

I want to buy a 10 mm pistol to hunt hogs on my farm in Hawaii. I usually use a 308 when hunting but sometimes I see pigs when I'm hiking in the gulch to the waterfall or working the fencelines. And wished I had a high powered pistol in chest rig or had one the glove box of the utv.

I'm considering the Springfield xdm elite because in reviews it seems capable of eating any type of high powered ammo. But I recently came across the kimber ds warrior 10 mm, which seems like a cool choice for the price. I heard the m and p 2.0 can be problematic so I'm not too sure about those.

What is best choice <$1300$ We are only allowed 10 round magazines so I'm not shopping based on capacity. reliability, shoot ability and long term durability is what I'm after.

First handgun best choice?

Looking to buy my first handgun. I am hunter and already have many rifles. The use case for this gun is primarily training and hopefully harvesting feral hog on my farm in hawaii when my rifles are not present or when my dogs have already done some work on them.

I feel drawn towards a 9mm striked fired compact pistol. Because I perceive that option to be the most versatile in terms of being able to shoot and comfortablly carry it. But I don't have much experience so everything is just is speculation.

My primary options so far is . . .

Walter PDP compact.

M and p 2.0 compact

Hk vp9 a1 k ( more expensive but if its the best choice I'm ok with that)

Glock 19 (feeling less drawn towards it)

I'm sure I can't go wrong with any of these. all of them seem like great choices so I thought I would see what others have to say.

Perhaps I'm looking at all wrong and should be going with a full size or hybrid. IDK?
