I BEG YOU PLEASE DONT HATE. Alright? Okay. So essentially I was trying to start off with the docs for qs but I found it was really like reading a wall of code. Mostly from all the examples… it felt like a big load to read.

Then I found this guide. It made some pretty crazy claims… so I bought it, for $67. It said it would give me the groundwork for said rice.

I fell for snake oil, okay? I should’ve just read the docs. But I want to know if I should use it (I calculated the total course content to be about 12 hours minus the fluff) or just use the docs… I already spent money.

For those wondering, yes, obviously I'm running Hyprland. I have recently looked into quickshell (I ignored it for a while for RAM usage superstitions, but not anymore) and have realized the true potential of it.

I have fed my previous dots into claude opus to translate them into qs, and it's giving me a good starting point. It translated decently well, with a few caveats. But I'll get to fixing those ASAP.

But do you think I should just read the documentation? After seeing some of the rices on this subreddit, I really want that unified look, which is kind of why I switched to qs, because it's all in one big ecosystem.

For some info, last year I converted to Christianity surrounded by atheists.

I feel… bummed. I know God is real; but I question it. Look I do not identify as agnostic; I identify as Christian. Reading the bible, watching faithful videos, etc. Have all been helpful in these times.

But oh my the doubt is powerful. It’s almost like an OCD; whenever I think I know enough the next day it comes back and bites you. The further I dig, the more evidence I find for Christianity but not for atheism. Good for me!

But anyway, I’m here if there’s any people in this subreddit. Not looking to convert, oh no. But I know agnostics or ex agnostics are some pretty smart bunch, and I want to ask if you guys had a similar cycle in any direction? And please, don’t get me to convert out of Christianity. I won’t but it piles on extra paper on my “workspace.”

But I can testify that there’s a lot in me fighting, a lot of signs that have been shown and a lot of joy to be gained when I converted.

I’ve been possibly fighting the greatest battle of my life that no one around me sees, considering God is real or not.

I know somewhere out there He’s real and I want to go to heaven but it just questions me so much that a God can love so much, that there is a place out there.

I need help. Primarily with trying to reinforce my faith, to prove that He is true over atheism; i know it’s true because theres no way ti disprove it but i really need it. Ive been asking God for a sign and He hasn’t given it to me yet.

Look I know somewhere out there He is real but Im hanging off a cliff with the tip of my fingers. I need encouragement, and any help is greatly appreciated.

In Nix, just after switching, yes I live the concept and I daily drive it - but games are a mess.

Steam wouldnt launch if I put it in environment packages, nor sober.

A lot of other stuff like using a different shell also just didnt work.

Is it the weird paths?

NOTE - these are somewhat vibecoded. I'm smooth brained enough that i cant rtfm but I'm not smooth brained to the point where I let AI just do everything for me, I use claude (goated) and I filter every bit of code that comes through.

home.nix and dots are all coded, customized and organized by me however I again let claude take over the complex stuff like playerctl monitoring, but again, I constantly reviewed it.

kernel.nix is just there if you want to use it but i suggest not because again, thats the really vibecoded one that wont work, but you can submit suggestions. Just enable it in the include block, ./kernel.nix.

however you will have to add a bg - just add awww img [image path] to hyprland startup (search hyprland.lua in home.nix, and you will find it.)

Hey there, arch user looking to switch to nix. For any other people, was the switch easy or hard?

I’m seriously considering using nix mostly for the stability and flakes which are actually super cool, so I was wondering if you had any insight.

This ain’t just spiritual warfare, it’s gotten to the point where I doubt God is even real.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s still one bit of me hanging on for dear life, only following His law and no other laws, and something in me now needs Him, there’s a cavity that needs to be filled.

I know that He is the true God; otherwise why would this pain me so much? But I need help running back. I need help proving that He is the God even though I feel it. I know I’m hanging on again because I wouldn’t feel anything otherwise; but I need help getting out.

I don’t know how to fix this. I try to follow Him, try to trust but I always end up in sin, a leak in my boat, a prick on my side, and cannot seem to let go.

I’ve sometimes quit for a day or two of committing this sin, or tried but I always offend God in His sight and try to excuse it even though I know it’s wrong.

How do I get out of lust?

I just need to thank Him that Jesus still forgives, I clearly haven’t earned it, but I know I’m saved anyways.

I still want to break this loop though, if anyone could help.

So my atheist queer friend just said to me that Christians use God having a plan to excuse bad seasons.

Although I’m really still submerged in God I’m also trapped in doubt even though he’s showed me so many signs.

Please, could someone just help? He’s saying that we use God having a plan as an excuse and that we will never get a good season, I don’t know why I doubt so much because I’ve seen it happen and what He has done - but it hurts.

Any recommendations?

Just wondering. I prefer a dock, but without a dock I see a lot of people using; what’s your take?

Hi, I know this is kind of a niche issue, but I was setting up an eww widget to monitor my played music.

My streaming service is Amazon Music and my MPRIS server is Chromium.

Anyways, everything works fine since I can pause and unpause, next and previous and see a certain point in the song.

Small bug though. When I’m paused and then I try to change my song position when I hit play it automatically reverts me back to the current point in the song rather than the one I selected when I paused.

Could anyone figure this out.

I’ve been on the search for the best terminal font or just mono font in general.

I was looking into the apple mono font (I think sf pro mono) but feel free to share your fonts if you want, I’m interested into looking into whatever you might suggest.

The statement “ain’t no hate like Christian love” is very real. I’m starting to come around to Christ here of recently, and I have read only slightly of the gospels. I find the gospels to be the closest to Christ you can be historically and religiously. From what I gathered if Jesus was roaming around today and stumbled open a gay person he wouldn’t say his/her actions are sin and but to put faith into him. I seen LGBTQ community either fully shunned or dismissed because of commitment to the “sin” and I’m wondering what’s everyone’s thoughts on fellow Christian’s bashing not only the LGBTQ community. But from where I am it’s pretty country and even for some of you aren’t white it doesn’t apply. And if anyone can cite phrases or verses where it’s 100% Jesus denys homosexuals.
