Autism + ADHD assessment and medication recommendations/process - feeling very confused

Hi all

I’ve been recommended to get assessed for autism and ADHD. My GP has told me about Right to Choose so I don’t end up waiting years on an NHS list, but I’m finding the whole process quite confusing and would really appreciate any experiences.

A few specific questions:

• Does anyone have recommendations for good providers (particularly ones that do joint autism + ADHD assessments)?

• If medication is recommended, how
does that usually work?

• If I paid for a private assessment, would it still be possible to get medication prescribed via Right to Choose afterwards, then have titration and ongoing management handed over to my GP?

Any recent experiences (good or bad) with providers, the process, or how medication is handled would be massively appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Autism + ADHD assessment recommendations - feeling very confused

Hi all

I’ve been recommended to get assessed for autism and ADHD. My GP has told me about Right to Choose so I don’t end up waiting years on an NHS list, but I’m finding the whole process quite confusing and would really appreciate any experiences particularly in relation to Newcastle.

A few specific questions:

• Does anyone have recommendations for good providers (particularly ones that do joint autism + ADHD assessments)? Local or national.

AIO Am I 30F overreacting or is this from my husband 34M something I should be concerned about? Brain is frazzled!

Edit: okay so there’s more context to the texting people thing because (TW: rape): >!I got raped and have struggled with intimacy so haven’t been wanting/enjoying sex and he just saw it as porn!<

Am I overreacting or is this something I should be concerned about? Or being gaslit?! Help!

30F and 34M, married one year.

I need an outside perspective because my head is all over the place and I can't tell if I'm making a big deal out of nothing.

H did something that hurt me. It's obviously bad but not “physically” but messaging women over anonymous app and calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend. But lately I've been stuck wondering if it's bad enough to end a marriage over, and I don't know if that's me being rational or if I'm convincing myself it's not that big of a deal. If I am being rational, is my H gaslighting me?

I tried to talk about needing space and time to process it. What was a pretty okay moment immediately turned when I said that. Partner got in a bad mood and it felt like my good mood just disappeared right after.

Now I'm spiraling a bit. Part of me wonders if that bad mood was meant to make me link asking for space with things feeling tense and unhappy. The other part of me wonders if he is just genuinely upset and hurt about the situation and that's all it is.

And then I started thinking, I don't want them to be in a bad mood because it ruins mine, so now I feel the urge to do something to make them feel better. Which means I end up being nice to them again.

I know that probably doesn't make much sense written out.

So my question is, am I overreacting to the mood shift? Is this just a normal reaction to me asking for space, or does it sound like a pattern where I'm being conditioned to drop it so things stay pleasant? Or if I’m not overreacting, is my partner gaslighting me into feeling bad about it?? This is not about morality it’s just whether you think I’m overthinking?

Has anyone gone through something like this? How do you tell the difference between someone just being hurt vs something more manipulative?
