I love kebab and god knows how many north easterners are in this sub but i’m just curious i’m wanting the best of the best none of this 95% salad and sauce to 5% of meat shite i want proper good quality tasty meat with lots of it as well. Sorry for the rant but my locals getting boring it’s amazing i’ll give it that but it’s just a bit meh now and want to try something new or even something around newcastle doesn’t have to be there just in the north east as a whole.

21M Looking for social group

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to meet people around my age; recently it's been quite quiet, and I've been wanting to be more social, but I'm not getting much luck with it. Are there any groups that are looking for new people? I know there is clubs and all but I dont want to be that guy who goes to spoons by himself, let me know!!

Gunpla in and around The Toon?

So I’ve just started the hobby because I’ve seen what some of my friends have been building and I need something to do in my free time.

Anywhere in and around the Toon that sells kits? I already know about Forbidden Planet.

Backend dev with 7 yrs experience looking for leads on who's hiring in the North East

Hey all,

Putting a feelers-out post together rather than a straight job ad, mostly hoping people can point me toward companies actually hiring right now, since it feels like the tech scene up here is pretty quiet/hard to read from outside.

Quick bit about me:

  • 7 years as a software engineer, working across Java, C++, SQL/Oracle, Perl, KornShell, Linux
  • First Class Honours degree in Digital & Technology Solutions (did it as a degree apprenticeship alongside working full time)
  • Looking for backend/developer roles, ideally £45+, open to remote or anything North East based (Newcastle, Northumberland, that general area)

I know the market's tough right now, so I'm not expecting miracles, just trying to widen the net a bit. If anyone knows of companies hiring devs, or has had good/bad experiences somewhere worth flagging, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Neighbour blasting music everyday.

My neighbour is blasting high bass club mixes everyday till 9PM night. Yesterday after 9 PM they lowered the noise but started singing along. My partner works late nights and she came home at 23:00 only to find herself disturbed by this music.

It’s too loud. I want to go speak to them. But it’s a terraced house and they play music in their home. and I’m POC. Not sure how they’ll take it. It’s a home in Byker/walker. It’s my first rent house. I used to share room before. Don’t know how to deal with this situation. I’m scared if I complain to them they’ll only increase it or become hostile.

Kid friendly pub’s / restaurant

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a tea time meal, with 4 year twins and a 10 year old to feed and entertain!

North Tyneside based but happy for anywhere on the metro line or Newcastle city centre.

The 4 years old are typical fussy kids, so nothing exotic unfortunately 😂

Where can i find bikers around Newcastle?

Hi, I’m a new biker on a CBT, I’ve previously been a very indoors person mostly centred around video games, however after getting my bike I’m super interested in meeting people into bikes aswell. Does anyone know of any regular meets around Gateshead to County Durham?

Is there any need in blocking off the whole city centre just for a 10k run?!

All the bus stops within the city centre coned off. No mention of any bus diversions anywhere either. Stagecoach app doesn’t have any alerts about this. Wtf is going on? I mean I understand if it’s the Great North Run, but it takes, what, an hour to run 10k? Bit frustrating when you work in a medical setting and shit like this happens and there’s been no communication about it.

The videos been taken down apparently, something about her running away because she didn't want to be filmed and he chased after her, and she turned out to be 15?? What the fuck is wrong with these people

People who drive between Gosforth park and the Angel of the North… why do you only use the middle lane?

There has to be people on Reddit who do this. I see it every day. Come on at gosforth park, jump over to middle lane, and never go back to lane 1. Same other direction. Come over the Tyne and stay in the middle lane all the way to gosforth park. I get why people (wrongly) think driving up to merge in turn point is queue jumping - so I can at least understand this bit of bad driving - but middle lane hogging does not make any sense whatsoever.

Old Stopper Help

Hello people of NewcastleUponTyne Reddit!

My partner and I have recently started mudlarking and found this old stopper in Edinburgh. We have tried finding information about this logo on top but have had no luck. So if anyone has any information about the company who may have used this, we’d be grateful to hear from you.

Thanks!

1 in 4 young people in Newcastle are not in education, employment or training.

Nexus are subcontracting a clearly racist company that are not following fair process and are discriminating against white people.

How is this justifiable?
