IN MEMORIAM — CONRAD “CRONOS” LANT

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we share the news that Conrad “Cronos” Lant has passed away.

For more than four decades, Conrad’s voice, bass and vision were at the heart of VENOM.

From the first dark rumblings of Welcome to Hell, through Black Metal, At War With Satan, Possessed and beyond, he created something that changed heavy music forever.

VENOM never followed the rules.
They forged their own path.

And Conrad was there at the centre of it all — uncompromising, fearless and unmistakable.

The Legions have always been an important part of VENOM. To everyone who stood with the band through the years, bought the records, came to the shows, wore the shirts, shared the music and kept the flame burning — Cronos was always grateful for your loyalty and support.

A message from Nathan, Conrad’s son:

“I want to thank all of the Legions for all of the support you have given my dad over the years. I know he really appreciated you all. He has laid down his soul, and his music will live on. The legend of Cronos will never die.”

His music will never die.
His voice will never fade.

And the legacy of VENOM will live on through the music he created and through the Legions around the world who continue to carry that flame.

Thank you, Conrad.
Thank you, Cronos.
Thank you for the music.
Thank you for the memories.

Our deepest love and condolences go to Nathan & Hel, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

REST IN PEACE, CONRAD

THE LEGEND LIVES ON

Thunder Thursday - The Great Flood of Newcastle: 14th Anniversary

14 years ago, on Thursday 28th June 2012, Newcastle and the surrounding area, suffered from the most ferocious downpour in living memory. Biblical in scale, over two months' worth of rain fell upon Tyneside, creating scenes that could have been ripped from the likes of a Roland Emmerich disaster film.

I remember the sky turning black, with constant lightning flashes and thunder. I finished work and waited for a Metro that never came. I could use my Metro ticket on the bus, but due to the rain, my ticket had completely disintegrated. Wading through knee deep water, I made it to the bus.

As we drove through North Shields and eventually Wallsend. Roads, paths and houses were completely flooded, with water bursting sky high from the drains. The rain was that heavy, it actually came through the roof of the bus. As the roads became so flooded, the bus had to stop and be abandoned. Luckily, I wasn't too far from home and walked the rest of the way there. I will never be more grateful living on a steep bank!

What were your memories of that mental day?

The Great Fire of Byker: 15th Anniversary

On Thursday 19th May 2011, 15 years ago to this very day, was the Great Fire of Byker. Let us never forget all the scrap lost to the Toon inferno and the hard work by the Fire Service to put it out. 🫡 🔥

Please feel free to share your memories of that smoke filled day.
