Fireplace for pellet stove

I have a fireplace original to my house, mid-1970s. I looked into replacing it with a wood stove and it was ~$13k for just the chimney install and stove. Building the alcove and removal of the fireplace was on me and not included in that cost.

Is installing a pellet stove in that space any easier/cheaper? I don't know anything about pellet stoves except that they don't need the same chimney as a wood stove.

Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

NY Permit holder visiting

I apologize for the simple question but I didn't see anything on a quick search and I'm usually the one answering these questions in r/NYguns so I understand how annoying it can be with simple questions.

I'm making an unplanned trip to Upper Marlboro to pick up my dad from the IAFF Center of Excellence after they gave up on treating him. I plan on driving there and back from the Finger Lakes region of NY in one day. I have a fully unrestricted concealed carry permit here. Can I bring my pistol in my car while traveling to and from the state without any plans to carry on my person?

I know FOPA won't apply here because Maryland is my destination, but I wasn't sure if there were any carve outs for possession in cars in MD similar to Pennsylvania.

Thanks

Installed a three story stairwell clad in rift white oak. As you can see the finishing company burned through a panel which cannot be replaced. How would you go about re-veneering? Must be single sheet, scribed to steps, captured by hard nose trim at left, right and top edges.
