Warning!

Warning!

Awhile ago, someone posted about getting bulk pellets with very cheap prices, I've had a few conversations with https://bulkhardwoodpellets.com/product/softwood-heating-pellets-trailer-load-24-pallets/

I would be very weary of any money exchanging hands with them, when I questioned whether they are a legitimate company, the stopped the communications, I offered to pay COD, and they refused, with pellet prices sure to rise, I'm just putting it out there before someone loses their money. They may be a totally legitimate company, I just feel like it might be better to look elsewhere.

Anyone experience with drolet eco 65?

I need to figure out a supplemental heat due to insane heating oil costs. I was searching for a harman to put in basement of my 1000 sqf ranch house. Plan was to leave basement door open hoping the hot air would rise. Then I came across this on facebook and seems like it may work well I can tap into my existing duct work.

Let me know your thoughts please.

Fireplace for pellet stove

I have a fireplace original to my house, mid-1970s. I looked into replacing it with a wood stove and it was ~$13k for just the chimney install and stove. Building the alcove and removal of the fireplace was on me and not included in that cost.

Is installing a pellet stove in that space any easier/cheaper? I don't know anything about pellet stoves except that they don't need the same chimney as a wood stove.

Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

Pellet storage ?

Where do you guys store a few pallets of pellets? I am leaning toward unwrapping 3 pallets and repalletizing them in the basement. Its dry. A lot of labor but oh well.

Pellet Stove with a Newborn?

Hi all! I’m sorry if this is the wrong subreddit.
My husband and I are first time parents expecting our little girl in January. We also just bought a house and there’s a pellet stove in the living room. I know high quality green pellets with low ash are the “safest” but I’d still be concerned with operating it with a newborn in the house for fear of exposure. I’ve never had one before so granted I may be overreacting - and I do have air purifiers but if I recall the ash can wear out a HEPA filter very quickly?
Would it be best to just hold off for a year and suck it up with the cost of oil? Or am I being a bit crazy with my critique?

Thoughts on Cleveland Iron Works F500210?

We are switching to a pellet stove this year. This Cleveland Iron Works is right in our budget, but the reviews are mixed. Does anyone here have any personal experience with this specific stove or the company in general?

Right kind of generator?

Looking to get a generator to keep the stove running during outages this year. It's a castle serenity, nothing special but keeps the house toasty. Would this do the trick, really would only be the stove a lamp and two phone chargers on it.

Need a new stove, recommendations for brands both Quality and for price

Bonus points if it's both Quality AND a good Price. 😄

TL;DR: I received a Kozy 100XL a couple years ago, which was built sometime in the early-mid 90's. It was worn out from the get-go, but I've since refurb'd it and replaced both exhaust (and now convection) motors. I now have a spare auger motor from pellethead, since it only makes sense.
Issue still is: This thing is tired. It's also noisy, and fairly inefficient, from what I gather.

SO: since I do like the convenience of Pellets (as compared to cordwood) I'm looking for a good brand of stove to replace this one with.
If all goes well, this will be a conversation that doesn't actually come to fruition for another couple of years, but fruition IS coming, so,....

Thanks for any helpful replies, and stay warm this time of year!! 😂

TLDR Got a free harman advance pellet stove, was told it's needs a auger motor or possible pressure switch.

Story time, sorry if a little long. A couple moved town away fromme "they were from the south" this was in there new house, they only been here for 6 months. They have someone/company come to see what was wrong with it, because the stove didn't work.

They told the couple it needs a auger motor. Well The wife as allergys to wood, grass, ect so they decided to pull the pellet stove out and put a gas fireplace in.

From what tag says this stove is early 2000s?? What is there to watch out for this stove, pros cons. Common wear parts. Know issues/things to watch for. Never dealt with this brand but I have used pellet stoves for 15 years.

Any help/knowledge about this model would be greatly appreciated.

Deciding between quad cb1200 or pelpro pp130 2200 Sq FT

Hey yall, I’ve been looking for a pellet stove for my 2200 sq ft 2 story house. I’ve been cruising marketplace constantly and haven’t seen a lot of good options. I’m stuck between an $1100 quadrafire cb1200 in nice shape or a newer pelpro pp130 for $500. I like the capacity of the pelpro for sure!! What’s the better stove? Which stove will heat my house better? I’m new to pellet stoves. I also see an enviro m55 that’s in a little rougher shape, at least the buttons on the controls anyway, that’s $800. My only reservation about the pelpro is that i can’t hook it to an external tstat. I feel like this is kind of important in a larger house? Maybe not, not sure TBH. Any recommendations or input highly appreciated!!! Thanks

Outside air kit?

I recently had a Harmon P 61 installed in my basement. My house was built in 1984 but I just recently had my rim joist air sealed with spray foam and my attic air sealed/blown in insulation installed.

Should I invest in an outside air kit (OAK) or will it probably run fine without it? Pros? Cons? TYIA!

Fan Locations and General thoughts...

Hey all, looking for some advice/ thoughts from pellet stove owners.

I live in New England, a single-story 1960's ranch house. Approximately 2350 sqft. We currently have natural gas, baseboard hot water. Our heating (gas) bills are obnoxious each winter and while we continue to airseal/ update the home's windows, doors, and insulation. We are still regularly cold and have considered a secondary heat source. We have been quoted for a Harman 42i-TC ($7215 purchased and installed).

My concerns stem from moving the heat from the insert location to the bedrooms, particularly bedroom 1, as this is the furthest point and always the coldest location in the home.

I have mocked up our floor plan with possible fan locations to move the heat. All the yellow locations can have the doors closed or are not required to be heated all day.

My questions...

  1. Where would you place fans for optimal heat movement?

  2. Where should we place the remote temperature sensor?

  3. Our square footage is at the absolute top edge of what Harman recommends for this stove. Anyone have thoughts on whether or not this will be sufficient for the home?

(Our current plan is to run the pellet stove throughout the day and switch over to baseboard for the overnights.)

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Harman Absolute 43 vs Allure 50 Pellet Stove

We’re trying to decide which pellet stove to buy and would love to hear from people with firsthand experience.
We live in a 1,500 sq. ft. split-level home in New England. The pellet stove will be installed on the lower level, and our goal is for it to provide as much heat as possible to the entire house—especially the upstairs living room and bedrooms. We currently have electric heat, so we’re hoping to rely on the pellet stove as our primary heat source during the winter.
Our dealer recommended the Harman Absolute 50, but before that I was pretty set on the Absolute 43. For those who have owned either one:
- Which would you choose and why?
- Does the Absolute 43 have enough output for a setup like ours, or would you go with the 50?
- Would you recommend something different altogether?
I’d really appreciate any real-world experiences or advice. Thanks!
