What are some of your favorite Chicago rap groups from the 90s
And why do you think they had such a great impact?
And why do you think they had such a great impact?
Yo /hip-hop what up,
Independent Chicago rapper Emerg has a debut album dropping July called Wicked Since 93.
He's from Pilsen — Chicago's historically Latino neighborhood — and the album is fully produced by Crook County (Marcos Martinez & Dave Dillion), a production duo out of Little Village credited as pioneers of that scene.
The concept runs deep: Emerg was born in 1993, the same year his label Wicked Entertainment Network was founded.
The whole album is built around that origin story — Chicago, cultura, and coming up independent.
Bilingual flow. Midwest production. No label cosign needed.
Full album July 2026.
We are a 30 year Chicago Hip Hop Label 🤜🏽🤛🏽

What's good r/pilsen —
Wanted to share something that's been in the works for a while, and feels right to bring to this community first.
Emerg is a Chicago MC born and raised right here in Pilsen. Born in 1993 — the same year Wicked Entertainment Network launched out of the city with nothing but $1,500 and a vision — his whole story is tied to this neighborhood. The murals, the music, the culture, the block. All of it.
His debut album Wicked Since 93 drops July 1st. It's a full Chicano rap / Latin hip-hop project produced by Marcos Martinez and Dave Dillion of Crook County — the production duo from Little Village widely credited with putting LV on the hip-hop map. Two neighborhoods, one record.
This is where it belongs first. Before the press, before the playlists — Pilsen gets it first.
