My neighbors bullied me so badly, I’m leaving the neighborhood

When I moved here a few years ago, it was actually a nice quiet neighborhood. Then little by little a bunch of people sold their houses really cheap, and new people moved there… then my life slowly turned into hell…

At first it was just annoying comments here and there, but now it feels like half the street has decided they hate me for existing. It would be one thing if it was just one miserable neighbor, but it’s like 6 or 7 of them is a bit too much

Any time I’m outside, front yard or backyard, doesn’t matter, somebody’s got something to say. Apparently I’m “fat,” “ugly,” my workouts are stupid, my life is wrong, whatever… Meanwhile half of them look like they haven’t walked farther than their fridge in years. I tried ignoring it for a long time because I figured eventually they’d get bored, but nope…

Another thing is that I planted a small tree in front of my house because I wanted something nice to look at from my window besides the road and honestly besides my neighbors. Some of their kids and their parents started spitting on it, kicking it, and one of the boys literally peed on it. When I told them to stop, one woman actually said, “He’s just a little boy, what’s wrong with that?” Like I was somehow the unreasonable one…

Another tree is in my backyard… It’s not huge, but it gives me shade and a little privacy in summer. One lady from their little clique told me I either cut it down or “pay for her future house” because according to her words only my tree is going to magically fall onto her property tomorrow, so I need to get rid of it now

Later they called animal control on my dogs saying they were aggressive and sick and should be taken away, and I “belong in a cage too.” My dogs are friendly and have all the vacines needed, but I had to explain this to the police and animal control who came to my place early in the morning

I listed the house because I just can’t live like this anymore, but every time somebody comes to look at it, these people appear out of nowhere and acting like I’m some scammer trying to sell a haunted crack house. They scare buyers away… Maybe they don’t wanna live surrounded by idiots, which is understandable. So, I’ve been looking into cash sale companies like eazy house sale because I’d rather lose some money and keep my sanity

Yesterday was kind of the last drop. I was in my own kitchen cooking dinner wearing shorts and a crop top, and I noticed one of the neighbors standing outside taking pictures through my window. I told him to stop before I call the cops, and he started rambling about how he has “every right” to look into my windows because he’s standing in a public area, and if I don’t want people looking inside my house then I “shouldn’t have windows at all and need to remove them somehow

I don’t even feel comfortable in my own home anymore…That’s probably the saddest part…

The neighbor’s contractors trashed my yard and nobody seems to care

I genuinely feel like I’m losing my mind with this neighbor situation…

A couple of weeks ago, or maybe even a month the guy next door started this huge renovation project. Fine, whatever, people renovate houses all the time. But ever since the work started, it’s been one thing after another and somehow my property keeps taking the hit

First thing was the tree between our yards. I came home from work one day and literally half of it was gone. He said the branches were “on his side” and bothering him, so apparently that gave him the right to butcher the whole thing. Then not long after that, his contractors damaged part of my fence with equipment and he just shrugged and said it was “nothing major.”

I was already irritated, but the last drop happened today...

They brought in some heavy machinery and apparently needed somewhere to park it without blocking the street, so they decided my driveway and front lawn werethe best spot. Is it even legal?

Completely tore it up. Grass destroyed, flowers flattened, bushes wrecked, tire tracks everywhere like a damn construction site.

I called the police because I was beyond fed up, and somehow they basically sided with him. They kept saying he has permits for the renovation and that I “can’t prove” who caused the damage even though the machinery was literally sitting there. One of the officers was acting way too friendly with the guy too, which honestly made the whole thing feel shady as hell.

I told them I’d be filing complaints and probably suing because this can’t possibly be normal. I took photos of everything and started googling what kind of lawyer even deals with this stuff. I found Sterling Legal and they mention construction disputes, but does this even count as that? Or is this more of a property damage/civil case?

At this point I’m just exhausted and angry. Feels like this guy thinks the whole neighborhood belongs to him

anyone else’s battery suddenly tank after the last update?

got a series 8 on watchOS 10.6.1 and normally i end the day around 40-45%. past few days i’m barely hitting 20% by dinner time. usage hasn’t really changed.

is this just me or is something up with the latest patch? kinda annoying tbh.

card got skimmed last year, and I basically rebuilt how I pay for things online.

the skim happened on a fairly normal merchant site, nothing obviously sketchy. I had to cancel the card, dispute three charges, and wait two weeks for a replacement. annoying enough that I actually changed some habits afterward.

the main thing i shifted: i try not to enter card details on sites i don't have a long history with. for those purchases one-off things, international shops, random services, i use gift cards instead(from Aceb). pay in crypto, get a code, and use the code at checkout. the merchant gets no financial data from me at all. it's not perfect and it doesn't work for everything.

subscriptions and physical stuff still need a real card sometimes. but probably 60% of my online spending has moved to this flow. I realize this may sound paranoid, but I hadn't previously considered this until I spent three hours on the phone with my bank.

The American dream looked very different 10 years ago

I moved to the States about 10 years ago and thought that I can stay here for good. It felt like things were finally coming together. I worked nonstop, even started a small business, rented for years, and about 5 years ago I finally was approved for a mortgage and bought a house. Felt like a huge milestone

But the last couple of years were the best and almost broke me. Business has been getting slower every year, costs keep going up, and lately it feels like I’m just trying to stay on float. I’m not drowning yet, but I tired of making ends meet each other

I thought about returning back home, the same business actually seems to have way more potential there. Indeed, the market there changed a lot while I was gone, and I feel like I’d have a better luck building something stable there than I do here at this point. My family’s been supportive too, which honestly makes the decision even harder because for the first time in years it feels like maybe going back wouldn’t mean giving up.

But having a house here holds me back. I need to repay the mortgage, and I have no idea what’s the best move if I decide to leave. I’ve read about companies that buy houses for cash and they can do it really fast. I saw Kind House Buyer while looking into options, but I don’t know anyone personally who’s sold a property that way

Has anyone here sold a house quickly like that because they were moving overseas or starting over somewhere else?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s a lifeline or if I’d just be shooting myself in the foot financially

I’m looking for books with moments or ideas that hit hard enough that you actually pause and sit with them for a bit

Not necessarily because they’re shocking, but because something about them feels unexpectedly real or thought-provoking

What book did that for you?

▲ 23 r/funk

I’ve been trying to make funk music, but I keep feeling like it ends up sounding kind of fake or like a parody instead of something real and groovy.

I really like the style, but I’m not sure what I’m missing. Is it more about rhythm, groove, instruments, or just experience?

How do you make funk that actually feels authentic? And what should I focus on to avoid sounding cheesy?

Any tips, references, or things to practice would really help
