Yellow fencing has gone up at the Whatcom and Peardonville Road encampments in Abbotsford, ahead of the removal of the people living there.

A witness, who asked to be anonymous, said they spotted what turned out to be human bones in the water running underneath this Langley City pedestrian bridge. RCMP and the coroner’s office are investigating.

It’s been a year since Langley Township announced it was ending a joint policing agreement with Langley City – an arrangement the City said could not be terminated without provincial approval – and neither side is budging.

RCMP are looking for the driver responsible, who fled the scene. Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact Langley RCMP at 604‑532‑3200 and quote file number 2026‑14967.

Feedback can also be provided through an online survey. It will be available until June 1 on the city website.

Const. Shawn Tilton, with the Coquitlam RCMP, has been charged in connection with an incident in that city in January of 2024, the B.C. Prosecution Service announced Wednesday.
