I'm considering ways to make a Storm sorcerer air genasi a little crazy.

It's still a bit of a blank slate concept, I looked first at what I think would be a fun mechanically to play and settled on storm sorcerer air genasi. Just feels like that enhances the storm sorcerer's toolkit nicely.

I've not fully decided on gender yet, though am leaning towards a woman. I was thinking someone initially human who became an air genasi after being struck by lightning three times in one day. (first time unharmed, second time killed, third time revived as an air genasi.)

I haven't decided yet if they already where a sorcerer before then, knowing some magic but not aware of their own sorcerous origin yet.

But I wouldn't want them to feel like some sort of super hero, and I'd certainly want to make them very different from Storm, or other well known lightning/storm wielders.

So I'm considering that being hit by lightning several times in a day could have left them a little crazy. Not insane, I do intend them to be a functional party member. But certainly one with some quirks. The kind which won't get tiresome after a few sessions.

One possibility I am toying with is them misremembering who they where before struck by lightning. Like they are 100% convinced of it. I'd write the background they believe they have, I'd tell the DM it's not true, and they'd get to come up with what it actually is.

Though I'd need an interesting fake background for that which could lead to fun roleplay without getting tiresome.

I am open to other suggestions and thoughts though, about how they could be a bit crazy.

Another thing I am considering is rolling a dice every time they wake up to see if they're in a positive or negative mood, their mood being changeable as the weather but still within reason. Like roll a D20 for it, 1-10 is negative and 11-20 is positive. With a 1 putting them in a really foul mood and a 20 in a super good mood. But in the 2-19 range it would be more subtle. More like them approaching what happens during the day with a glass half full or glass half empty vibe.

A Sims competitor focused on city life with only playable adults, and an 18+ rating. Make friends, find romance, make a career, etc. Opportunities await. Success or failure, there will be a story.

There's already the sims, Paralives and others focused on family life, ageing up and all in games for all ages.

What I'd propose is a game that focuses exclusively on adults, and has no ageing. So no family life, though you can set family trees to have siblings and parents, maybe grandparents too but everyone is adult.

So all resources can be focused on making all of that more detailed, adding more depth to it. And I'd go with the 18+ rating to enable telling more adult stories unlike the sims which has not even had alcohol in the game since the first.

Characters would be capable of murder, but it would get investigated. Could even be a private detective career where you get to do that. Would be a prison too where characters can end up in due to crimes committed.

Various addictions can be obtained too if your character engages with an activity enough, though their personality traits can make them more prone or resistant to specific vices. Smoking, alcohol, gambling, gaming, sex and a fictional drugs could all be possible addictions.

Your character can really hit rock bottom in this. Would be quite a challenge to get someone suffering several addictions to get their life together.

Sex and nudity would not be censored, the option to censor it would be there of course but by default that's all visible. It would not be a sex game, merely one aspect of it. And it would always be fully consensual, though not always involving a romance. Characters can have regrettable one night stands after a night at the bar, or might hire a sex worker. They could also work as a sex worker.

Characters would also have sexual preferences, could also be asexual. Could be into some kinky stuff. Scandals and blackmail can also be a thing. Your character could hire a private detective to get some dirt on someone who's also a candidate for the same promotion. What works as blackmail there could depend on the job.

The city could be divided into neighbourhoods, each with it's own character and challenges. Would be an area of a reasonable size, would be a load time only if you go to another neighbourhood. Each neighbourhood would have some shops, some places for social gatherings and places to live. Can make your own too.

There would be a really shady neighbourhood, the kind where you'd just be surviving and want to move out of, but a place where opportunists could really thrive. Would be drug dealers in back alleys, after dark also prostitutes walking the streets, shady bars, con artists would be around and there's a chance to get mugged. Higher chance of burglaries too. Would be very cheap to move here however.

But there'd also be a hot downtown neighbourhood with plenty of clubs and night life, great place to live if you want to party, less so if your home is not properly isolated and you have a day job.

Could also be a suburban neighbourhood with white picket fences, more laid back where you have more contact with neighbours for better or worse.

And a gated community for rich snobs and mansions, has a country club and all. There's a lot of focus here on wealth and status. Whoever is the richest and most accomplished is always kept track of, scandals hit harder here too to knock others off their pedestal.

Jobs and careers would be less linear than in the sims, would vary between fully active jobs, rabbitholes to disappear in during the day, and a combination of both. There are promotions but how many depend on the job. Your characters can also be shown to practice their jobs when not playing them. Like if one is a cop they might appear when you play another household and call the cops.

Anyone have any thoughts on The Lamplighter's League?

I really like the idea of this game, an Indiana Jones kind of adventure with all these interesting characters and the time period. Reminds me a bit of the board game Fortune and Glory which is one of my favourites.

But it having been abandoned right after release is making me have doubts. So far I had only seen it sold for half price which seemed too much for a game that only got like a month of support after release. But now in the steam sale it's going for a quarter of the price and I still have doubts.

Not sure if I'd enjoy the real time part of combat before it goes turn based, and I gather from reviews that you are strongly encouraged to just use the same few heroes all the time instead of rotating them out.

So thoughts are welcome.

Autisme speelt daar mogelijk in mee.

Open world superhero game with your own created hero.

A singleplayer game that does take a page from 'City of heroes/villains' MMO's in that you get to create your own character in detail, including their powers and weapons. You can also unlock more powers and weapons through play.

It would be more of a sandbox game, set in a fictional city with many things to do. There would be a story, but more focus would be on the end game and side activities.

Would still be a good story, but not an overly long one. One that is very replayable with different heroes with different powers, like the ones you unlocked through play.

Initially, only the humble origin is available. You're just a regular human stepping up, either through training, tech or obtaining powers you weren't born with. The origin determines the opening chapter of the story, and through the rest of it affects dialogue all around when relevant, and some dialogue choices.

But you get to unlock the alien origin, artificial origin, demigod origin and monster origin as well, which all give their own opening chapter and dialogue/dialogue choices as well.

As an alien you just arrive and this world is strange to you, you don't know of it's customs. As an artificial creation you are freshly created in a laboratory. Could be a clone, a robot, or some other kind of experiment. Key thing is, you have knowledge but zero life experience. As a demigod you where born with superpowers so you can't be without powers, you are met with more awe and fear than others and it can make you pretty arrogant too. And in the monster origin, you look terrifying and people treat you as such.

What powers/weapons and appearance options are available will depend on origin, there's not many restrictions, just what's sensible. Each origin will have something in this regard that's unique to them.

Powers/weapons won't affect dialogue beyond what some random NPC's or enemies might say. It does however affect your options during missions and side activities. You will always have some freedom in how to accomplish the objectives.

You get to obtain a base of operations too that you can customise, you can customise your vehicles and weapons too as well as your outfit. Of course depending on powers, you might not care to use vehicles. But vehicles can be outfitted with armour and various weaponry.

Through the story you dismantle the villains that terrorise this city, but get to decide if you become the heroic protector of this city, the new villain seeking to rule it, or something in between.

There are a lot of shops through the city which you can also enter. To purchase clothing, vehicles, ammunition, weapons, improvements for your home/base, get a haircut but you can also participate in various activities like exercising at a gym, fishing, playing pool or poker, and some other activities that WILL keep your powers in mind. Like you could cheat at poker by mind reading or wreck the gym equipment with your inhuman strength.

Criminals can also rob these places as a random event that might happen.

There's also various banks that might get robbed, you can also rob banks or other places to gain quick cash.

You get to upload your created characters as well to the online rogue's gallery or heroes gallery, from which players can also download the ones they like once the story is completed and the endgame content opens up. You get some options for their behaviour in other players their cities if they appear there. They get to bring along one vehicle as well which they'll use for transportation.

Depending on your own character's actions in the story, either the heroes or villains will show up to try and take you out. Or a bit of both if you are neither.

You can also establish a league of heroes or villains, letting you use other players their characters or your own saved characters as allies part of this, who you can also encounter in the city doing their thing. You can call them in as reinforcements.

There's a prison as well where captured villains get put, they might escape. But you can choose to kill them.

An open world superhero game you can play through as several different heroes, each offering a different experience.

Could work as Marvel or DC really, I am not too set on it, but for the example I'll use Marvel.

There's a city infested with crime and corruption since it's own hero went missing, a new hero and city created just for the game, so a hero shows up to deal with it. No switching during the game, you play the entire game as that hero, but can start a new game with another hero. No other heroes showing up to help. It's their story.

Depending on which hero you pick, parts of the game might be easier. But parts also change to match them. If you play Thor, you are not getting the stealthy options that Black Widow would get. For her, open combat would get pretty hard when facing a lot of opponents, so with her you avoid that. But later in the game, she would not be facing the kind of enemies that would be brought out to take down Thor.

So the game gets to switch a bit between genres. With Black Widow you would be a spy. You could do more investigating, can use disguises, it would be possible to complete entire missions without an alarm being raised. But in combat she would have martial arts, guns and other weapons. It would just be more challenging for her, she encourages a different playstyle.

With Thor you'd take a far less subtle approach, combat would especially early on be easier for him, and stays easy against common enemies. But you'd lack a lot of information so won't know much about what you get yourself into. More enemies would certainly be thrown against you, you'd face more rounds of reinforcements. It becomes more of an action game.

Outside of missions, which could take you out of the city in a cutscene at times, you would have a city to explore which would also be very different. You'd always have an apartment where you can keep your money, can change clothes/hero outfits, select weapons, etc. You can upgrade it too, to make it your own. Initially it could look really bad. You could be meeting some contacts here through the story. The local contacts could be the same for each hero, but their usefulness would depend on the hero.

You can buy all kinds of things around the city, though obviously Black Widow would get more use out of a car than Thor who could just fly around. Some stuff would be mission rewards too.

The playthrough for each hero would be different. The main antagonist could mainly be a schemer, but one who will involve some mercenary kind of villains later on in response to your hero's actions. Could be personal enemies to that hero too. Other security measures they would also adapt on your hero so no playthrough is the same. Some might still be a bit similar.

And there's also many smaller ways it would differ. Like if you're Iron Man, you basically have an infinite money cheat. On the other hand, you are very reliant on a suit that might get damaged. But you can also upgrade it through the game. The goal would be that with each hero you really feel like you get the experience of being that hero.

If you'd play Spiderman you'd be able to work odd jobs to make money to pay for stuff. Which could be deliveries or other activities. He'd have that extra content, while Iron Man would have extra content looking for upgrade components for his suit.

With the Hulk, you would also get Bruce Banner. So you get to do some hacking and preparation work, can even try to do some sneaking in, but you are nothing in combat if not the Hulk. Bruce Banner would pick up on some things. Might also be spending more money on clothes than anyone else since he'd keep ripping up clothing.

There's of course many possibilities for heroes to use for this game, though I would go with quality over quantity. Each experience should really feel different, it should always really feel like you are that hero. Also voice acting for them and all. Could be room for more heroes to be added as DLC.

I'd keep it all strictly singleplayer. While co-op mode sounds cool, it would cost a lot of resources, would need to change the story to keep in mind all possible combinations and such, and I would rather see that time and resources spend on having more heroes instead.

With the selection of heroes, I'd basically want it to cover different playstyles. Can be some overlap, but each hero should be able to do things no other can, all saving the day in their own way. Kind of like when you watch a superhero movie, and wonder what would happen if another hero of that universe was handling this same problem.

I wasn't interested in this before, but this game made me enjoy it, pulling me in by the theme, wonderful animations and just being fun. Each battle being a bit of a puzzle, but not being too hard either. It's fun to upgrade characters their cards too, making them better.

So I am looking for other deck building games that have beautiful artwork/animations, and aren't too difficult to get into. Easy enough for a novice, at least on the easiest difficulty.

It's great of course if I get to see characters act out the cards played in battle like in Midnight Suns, but I am open to it just being cards if it does at least come with great artwork and good sound effects and music to pull me in.

I am open to all kinds of themes, though probably enjoy fantasy of sorts the most, and more realistic art styles.
