First job as a BMS Engineer in Dubai – need advice on career direction

Hi everyone,
I recently got my first job as a BMS Engineer in Dubai. I’m working as a subcontractor on a Honeywell project, and I’m getting exposure to both maintenance/service work and project-related work.
The main issue I’m facing is the work-life balance. The working hours can be difficult, and night shifts and maintenance requirements are making me question whether BMS is the right long-term career for me.
At the same time, I don’t want to leave too early because I know this experience could be valuable for my career.
For people who have experience in BMS/HVAC/Building Automation:
● How can I grow from a site/maintenance BMS Engineer into a better role?
● Is it possible to move from maintenance/service into BMS design, programming, commissioning, controls, or an office-based role?
● Which skills/software should I focus on during my first 1–2 years?
● Does having experience working with a major company like Honeywell through a subcontractor help when applying for jobs elsewhere?
● How is the work-life balance in BMS as you gain more experience?
● If I eventually want to move to Europe or Australia, what should I focus on now?
● Should I continue building BMS experience for a few years, or consider doing a Master’s and then trying to move abroad?
I’m still new to the field, so I’d really appreciate advice from people who have already gone through this career path. Thanks!

New BMS Engineer in Dubai — How should I plan my career if I want to move to Europe/Australia?

Hi everyone,
I’m new to the BMS field and currently working as a BMS Engineer in Dubai. I’m still early in my career and want to make sure I focus on the right things from the beginning.
My long-term goal is to eventually move to Europe or Australia and build my career there, preferably in BMS, building automation, controls, or a related field.
For those already working in BMS/Building Automation, especially anyone who has moved from the UAE to Europe/Australia:
● What technical skills should I focus on during my first 1–2 years?
● Is 1–2 years of UAE experience enough to start applying for jobs abroad?
● Would doing a Master’s in Europe after around 1 year of experience make sense as a pathway to getting a job there?
● Or would it be better to continue gaining work experience and apply directly for jobs?
● For Australia, is BMS/controls a realistic career path for someone with UAE experience?
I have a B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, so I’m also wondering how much my degree will matter compared with actual BMS experience.
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through a similar path. If you were starting again in my position, what would you focus on during the next 1–3 years?
Thanks!

Need advice Urgent!

Hey everyone,
I am a fresh graduate, and my company is currently processing my employment visa for a Skill Level 1position.
Initially, my application status on the MOHRE tracking portal showed "Under Process." However, it recently changed to Pending with this exact Arabic message:

المهنة من الفئة المهارية 1 وتتطلب شهاده جامعية/ مصدكة من وزارة الحارجية
(Meaning: The profession falls under Skill Level 1 and requires a university degree certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
Here is the situation:
My degree is 100% physically certified and stamped by both my home country and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

My PRO insists that they have uploaded everything completely and correctly from their side before this message appeared.

Since I am a fresher, I am getting a bit anxious about why it went from "Under Process" to this hold message if the documents were already uploaded.

Should I be worried or this is common?

Is war putting hold on hiring

I was offered a job in Dubai but after that I haven’t heard from them. When I contacted them they are saying the internal process is getting delayed should I be worried? Will I be ever called 🙂

Stream Training

Hi guys, I recently got into the ASE role at Accenture and I’m currently attending stream training on Mainframe online. The problem is, I’m finding it really hard to understand the concepts properly, and honestly, I have no idea how I’m going to do the hands-on assessment.
If anyone has been through this before, please let me know how you managed during the training.
