Replacing a J because it's too hard?

Just landed a role, been here for the past two weeks , full-time

Annual comp 160

Literally only one scrum meeting a day and that is it

The issue is that the work is pretty hard, very technical

My other j's are very laid back and I finish work very fast due to how easy it is.

It's not about volume of work either , it's just the assigned stories are very technical and takes me days to complete

Contrary to j1 , where I can finish work in a day and coast for the rest of the sprint

Anyone have experience dealing with this? Should I suck it up? Or replace?

Force seller to replace oil tank?

Hey all im buying a house and the inspector said he noticed drip on the underside (I'm not sure if that means leak)

inspector did mention the area has a heavy oil smell

I called an oil company and they said it needs to be replaced and that I shouldn't be the one calling, that the seller should be

Seller hasn't serviced it since he moved in and has no knowledge on when it was last serviced

Thing must be 20 years old

House is from the 1960

location is Connecticut

I am uneducated when it comes to this stuff and I'm unsure if I should walk

seller also painted over cracks on the foundation

Walk away or negotiate? Porch issues

Hey all under contract for a 1960 split level home

The inspector who was very thorough found multiple issues with the porch along with the roof and oil tank

I genuinely love this home but I don't know if this is the time to walk away or negotiate

Porch

Rotted structural wood underneath Porch is slanted Footings may be missing

Porch appears to be supported by the house overhang, which isn’t designed to carry that load Ledger boards were only nailed to the house

Missing joist hangers and incorrect fasteners Missing flashing, so there may be hidden water damage

The inspector recommended a general contractor evaluate it, but we’re concerned it may need a major rebuild or full replacement.

Oil heating system

Strong oil smell in the basement Visible drips underneath the oil tank Oil supply lines are buried in concrete and may be unprotected/corroded

Boiler flue is touching insulation, creating a potential fire hazard Plywood is blocking access to the boiler

We’re getting contractors to evaluate both, but how serious would you consider these issues, and would either make you walk away?

I am utilizing an FHA loan so I'm sure the loan is contingent on these issues.

Multiple electrical issues found during home inspection on 1960 house in CT how serious?

Hey everyone, just got my inspection report back on a 1960 split-level I'm under contract on. Found several electrical issues and I don't even know how to proceed

I've reached out to multiple individuals and I'm still awaiting a reply

I know that homes have issues , impossible to find a home without multiple issues , but I'm not sure if this is the point when I should run away

Genuinely at a loss

Issue 1 — Improperly terminated wires in basement Inspector found exposed wires with wire nuts just hanging against the foundation wall in the basement. No junction box enclosing them. Basement has significant moisture and efflorescence on the foundation walls. Inspector flagged as electrocution and fire hazard.

Issue 2 — Inaccessible junction box At least one junction box is behind a finished wall and cannot be accessed without removing drywall. Inspector couldn't fully assess it. According to the inspector this is the main panel

Issue 3 — Outlets above electric baseboard heaters Multiple outlets positioned directly above electric baseboard heaters — inspector flagged as code violation and fire hazard.

Issue 4 — Wire not rated for outdoor use on porch Inspector noted wiring on the porch that is not rated for exterior use. Specially it is NM cabling

Location is Connecticut

issue 5 : house has a porch that can collapse under enough weight, it is only being hung up by the wall it is attached to

inspector recommended foundation contractor

issue 6: inspector noted oil tank drip , and said it smells like oil on the level below

issue 7: inspector mentioned roof is also near end of life and has been patched up with tar...

it also looks like the seller painted over the foundation recently....

I only have until Friday to get this all sorted for my inspection contingency deadline

The inspector saw the house on Sunday...

I am not sure if I have enough time to make the inspection co

Questions: How serious are each of these individually and combined? Is it possible to remediate all off this?

General cost to repair a sagging porch?

Hey all, I am currently in the inspection phase for this 1960s house and the inspector flagged this porch many times throughout the inspection

I have an FHA loan, so I'm a bit worried it will be flagged

I am in Connecticut

I will be reaching out to other contractors within my area but just looking for some input

I have not hired anyone to come out and see the porch, I just got the information yesterday

The screened porch is 68 sq feet while the balcony which is pictured is 101 sq feet

Essentially he said the following in the report :

The side porch was attached to or through the overhang as the sole support. The overhang cannot support any vertical load other than the dead load of the overhang overhead. Even if the lags or through bolts are through the overhang into the band joist of the home, the lateral pressure from these lags/bolts could allow lateral compression of the overhang due to the air cavity between the veneer and band joist. Proper support of the ledger board and side porch is recommended to be conducted as deemed necessary by a general contractor for safety. Incorrect fasteners were utilized for the joist hangers. This is not consistent with the manufacturers requirements and could allow the hangers to bend and snap off leading to failure of the joist system and eventual damage to the deck. It is vital that the correct nails are used to secure the joists which should be done by a general contractor/carpenter. The ledger board for the front and side porch was only nailed to the house. Nails can pull out over time. This can cause the front porch to pull away from the house and possibly collapse. It is vital that the ledger board is bolted to the house by a general contractor. Joist hangers were missing. This could lead to failure of the deck structure. It is strongly recommended that joist hangers are installed by a general contractor. Ground/slab under side porch was higher in areas. A foundation contractor should further evaluate this area.

there is also electrical wiring running beneath the porch, this is not pictured

inspector said it is exposed Nm Cables

Thanks all !

How to handle background check with overlapping contracts?

I just recently got laid off, layoffs are common in this field and I successfully acquired a new J

timeline: J1: ~1.5 years, recently had layoffs and my position was cut J2: Picked this up while still at J1, ran both concurrently for ~4 months before J1 ended. J2 is still active. J3: Just landed a full-time offer.

When they reached out I only listed J1 on my resume since it was my primary role and where most of my relevant experience came from. J2 was omitted.

J3 never asked about concurrent employment during the process, no security clearance involved, and I now have the full offer in hand.

My question: How does the background check typically work in this situation? Will they only verify what I listed (J1), or do they dig further and find out j2 ?

I have my twn and hire-right frozen

Anyone know of churches or spaces that rent out for baby showers?

Hello, I'm hosting a baby shower and looking for an affordable venue ideally a church hall or community space that rents out for private events.

Does anyone have experience booking a space like this locally? Any recommendations or contacts would be hugely appreciated.

I am looking anywhere in Wilton, Redding, etc as well

Budget-friendly is the goal as I have around 25 people and every restaurant I reach out to is quoting me 1500+

Thanks all

Thoughts on this shared driveway?

Hey all, im putting an offer on a house wanted to get some feedback. this is my first house so I don't know how to deal with this

house is on 1.58 acres which is a rare find in bethel for affordable price point

The starting point of the driveway is highlighted in yellow and the house I am looking at is all the way at the end

We only have one neighbor, which is the first house on the left of the photo

the house I am looking at is at the lower bottom right

I am not sure if this is a deal breaker for me , I am still evaluating but I am starting to get cold feet

The seller has lived here for 8 years with no problems, but might not be full story

Also this is Fairfield county in Connecticut, specially bethel ct

Would this be a deal breaker for you guys?

ignore the other red lines, accident

EDIT: YES THERE IS AN EASEMENT ON THE ENTIRE DRIVEWAY AND NEIGHBOR OWNS THE PORTION IN FRONT OF THERE HOUSE AND ENTRANCE I believe

it is a gravel driveway

Do you script or freeform your content ?

I am creating my first course to add to my resume

My niche is very small but active and I thought it would be a great idea to create a course on my niche topic

It is my first time recording videos and I already have 6 videos all of which are freeform with some guidance from bullet points

I've played these videos to myself and I believe they sound good

It saves me alot of time, but I am wondering if I should be scripting

Any input is appreciated
