Any tourists coming to Bern in July who want to hang out with a local I am so bored

I know this sounds like a scam but istg it is not. Im female, late 20s, native to Bern, and instead of traveling as I was planning to I am stuck at home all July because of my job and I thought well theres tourists here so if I cant come to the world, the world can come to me, no? Also, I love sharing my city but my international friends never visit because its too expensive for them.

So if you are visiting Bern this month I can take you Aare swimming safely or share some Swiss stuff or literally whatever. If you want comment or DM me where you are visiting from + when. Maybe smth works out :) I cant guarantee a reply because I still have to work most days. No romantic advances though - I am not interested.

Magyar anyanyelvű tandempartnert keresek nyelvtanulásra (magyar-német)

Sziasztok!

What's an aspect of Swiss culture that you think is often underestimated/not well known/not paid enough attention too?

We all know some common ideas/stereotypes of what Swiss culture is like...rule-following, federalist, non-flashy, conservative... and they are true to some extent, but what do you think is an aspect no one talks about that you find relevant nonetheless? Or if you moved here, something that surprised you/you did not expect?

Folklore, not so SVP-coded?

Disclaimer: the point of this post is not to argue about politics.

I am looking for something specific and wondering if anyone can give me tips!

I live in an urban area and I'm quite left wing. I personally really like all things folklore, folk music, dance, costumes and so on. Not just Swiss - I am interested in that sort of stuff from other cultures too - but obviously the local one makes sense to appreciate. Sadly most of my social circle finds this type of stuff either boring or politically suspect. I disagree with that, I think folklore is not per se "right-wing" by nature. However it's true that most such events aren't exactly a setting where I would feel comfortable loudly yelling about how I voted or something like that. Now, I don't find this a problem per se because I don't mind existing in the same space as people with a different political outlook. However, sometimes I just wish I could enjoy this sort of stuff in a way that aligns more with my values and with the way I appreciate it personally. So I am looking for tips for:

  • Events/groups/... that are folklore-related but you would consider welcoming to left wing city dwellers like me
  • People who vibe with my interest and want to come together to visit different folklore events together and just bring our own vibe to the party in a respectful way

I am happy for any input, except politics arguments. Not the point.

Body horror scene, grey surroundings, cheap movie

The movie I am looking for is:
- Likely American, maybe Australian

- between 2000 and 2018-ish
- quite cheap, rather B-movie
- I dont remember any plot but there was a group of people trying to escape/fight some sort of infection/monster/alien (?) that could take possession of peoples bodies and transform them
- They were in something very grey, likely a warehouse, could be a hospital/lab setting or some sort of bunker too. NOT a space station though.
- There's a scene where one characters head/torso sort of transforms into a creature looking very much like a oversized tapeworm

I have been looking for it a while, also with AI and all the usual google tricks. It is NOT:
Deep Evil (2004)
Alien Raiders (2008)
The Thing (1982)
The Facility (2012)

Maybe I dreamed it!

What do you wish people abroad would associated/ask you more about after you say "I am from Estonia/Latvia/Lithuania"?

Hey everyone! I am not from any Baltic country but have travelled to all three and loved it very much. Recently I had a conversation with two friends from Estonia and Latvia who go to a lot of international events (conferences etc) and who said it's getting a bit infuriating/depressing the last few months that when introducing themselves socially they constantly get asked about Russia/whether it's safe/security situation. They almost miss when simply no one knew about their countries instead. This made me quite sad. Do you share their experience if you interact a lot with international people? How do you feel about it? What else do you wish people reacted/asked instead?
